[so sorry I completely forgot about this. ]
Annabel urged Lance into a short strides canter. "Mathew is it? Or would you prefer it as Ranger?" She first questioned him, brushing another loose strand behind her ear. "I maybe broke a few rules." She shrugged. "Unless your really curious... I don't think it's wise for me to say..." She murmured.

(It's okay.)
Matthew watched her as she urged her horse into a slow canter, yet he made no move to do the same. "As your host, I need to know what I'm boarding in my home, and I would prefer not to shout the entire time," he called to her calmly as she rode ahead of him. He had some patience with people, but it wasn't a lot. If she was going to explain what she did, she would do so beside him. After all, she didn't know how to get to his house, so she would have to slow down eventually.

Slowing Lance back down to a trot, she soon matched the steps with Matthew's horse. "Well, if that's truly what you want to know ranger, your boarding a lot more than you can chew." She scanned him up and down before turning her attention to the rode ahead of herself. "But anything can be tamed..." She said a little more secretly.

She flicked her gaze over to him. "You want me to call you Matthew?" She raised an eyebrow in disbelief but turned her attention back to Lance just as quickly as she had turned around. "I usually am told to call a ranger... ranger." She shrugged. "Or Ranger then the name." She paused, pondering his question. "I..I don't have anywhere to go... no body has the time to... I guess teach me?" She sighed. "I don't have parents. I was an orphan, ironically, so was Lance."

Matthew shook his head. "We're not a formal bunch," he informed her. "Yes, other people might call us Ranger, but members of the Corps always refer to each other by first names, unless they are on formal business in need of introduction." He listened to her explain her situation with a small nod. "Tell me, Annabel, if your Mentor didn't want you, then why did he choose you as his apprentice?" He asked, his voice calm and open. She obviously had worries about her past, and making her feel worse about them was no way to start off their time together.

Annabel slowed her horse, and Lance protested by chomping down on the bit and tossing his head. He fell into step behind Matthew's horse. Annabel glanced down at her bandage wrapped hands, she had wrapped them because of all the scars she had. Shrugging at his comment, "Good, I'm not very formal." She patted Lance's sweaty neck. "My mentor had doubts about my future. He chose me because of my... well, my traits and heritage." She shifted her weight in the saddle. "I was said to be of royalty, but no one has dared tell me."

Annabel frowned at his comment. "Why would I expect anything Ranger?" She returned the playful smile, tilting her head to emphasize the title. "Maybe this is where I start again." She said mostly to herself, although she knew Matthew could hear it from where he was. She urged Lance to go faster, matching Matthew's horse's stride and step. She tapped Lance's shoulder, making the horse shudder and slap his tail through the air, hitting Matthew's horse.

"I'm not your Mentor," Matthew explained to her. "I actually just graduated from apprenticeship myself, so I'm not qualified enough to take on that role. But I will help you find a way to best practice your skills." Prancer felt the light swat of the other's horse's tail. Without missing a step, the stallion bumped into Lancer's side before returning to normal. Annabel shrugged, "Half of the time I don't even know what I'm told." She patted Lance who tossed his head in response. The somewhat misbehaving ranger horse lashed out his leg at Mathew's, giving a satisfied snort before pulling ahead. Annabel jerked lightly on the reigns, giving Lance a quick pat before moving a strand of her hair out of her eyes. "Then what are you doing here with me? When you could be off doing whatever you wish?" Annabel met the eyes of the boy next to her, keeping Lance at a steady pace.
