Hey! I had a clan in the works way back when the WCF was still around, but planning was never finished thanks to the site being shut down. I still have some of the information (I really wish I had saved all of it), and I was hoping that some other members would be interested in helping me flesh it out? I've been really absent on these forums, and I'd like to get so know some people while finally making this clan a reality.
This is all open to change, so suggestions are very welcome. The plan was to create a clan that is based in a temperate rainforest, with large hills, a mountain, and two streams that cut the territory into 3 roughly even sections. The weather would consist largely of cooler weather with lots of rain. The temperature doesn't fluctuate much with each season - winter is cool but it will likely never snow, and the summer is warmer but still comfortable. It can be pretty humid, but the cats spend a lot of time around streams and springs, so they can easily cool off.
The camp itself is situated in a small, shallow delta off of the western stream. The warriors', apprentice's, and elders' dens are boulders that have been hollowed out from years of flowing water, leaving behind smooth and comfortable homes for the cats. They sit in a small clump near the shore, and are covered by hanging mosses and overshadowed by large trees. The leader's den is also hollowed out from a large stone, but this one sits in the center of the delta, serving as the gathering place for the clan. The medicine den is on the shore, across from the warriors' den. It's hidden within the roots of a large tree, and the entrance is covered by hanging mosses and lichens.
I can't remember the name for the life of me, but the equivalent of the Moonstone was a spring upriver of the camp, filled with pond lilies and reflective cobblestones. When the moon shines upon it, the water seems to glow, and the leader may sleep along the bank to communicate with the ancestors.
Again, my memory is failing me(this clan was started over a year ago), but the two rivers were meant to be named after ancient cats who had proven themselves to be powerful and wise. This doesn't have to be a thing, but if anyone has any ideas for this, I'd really appreciate it.
Now, I do recall some of the clan's history. The cats originated from the mountains beyond the northernmost part of their territory. A tribe of loyal cats lived upon the cliffs near a large waterfall, but they had very strict rules about love and mates. One tom named Trout fell in love with a loner who lived on the outskirts of their territory. When they were discovered, the council of elders decided to banish Trout from their lands, and would kill him upon his return. Trout made his way down the mountain and into the forest, where the loner helped him learn to survive in the drastically different environment. They met a small group of cats who had made the forest their home, and boom, next thing you know, there's a growing group of cats who were well-suited to the dark forest and knew how to handle its various dangers. Trout took the name of Troutstar after collapsing next to the spring, and the group formed into a clan. They developed their own system, rules, and rankings to keep order.
This is the introduction I saved, but some details will definitely need to be changed.
You step lightly through the haze, your eyes struggling to penetrate the thick fog that collects in the falls and coats the entire forest in a soup of grey. The foliage around you is thick and dark and could easily be hiding anything. The very thought sends a small prickle of fear along your spine. There were rumors that had been passed from generation to generation that spoke of silent, ruthless cats who ruled this forest and its rough waters. A clan of merciless killers, hardened and savage. An especially thick patch of brush blocks your path, intertwined with vines and aquatic plants. The quiet sounds of splashing reach your ears, which you can only assume is the flowing of another stream. You've already encountered two in this crazed forest, and you don’t look forward to crossing a third. With a deep breath, you force your way through and into the open. But the sight you're greeted with is not what you were expecting - not in the slightest.
There are kits. Little kits and apprentices, most the same shade as the fog that surrounded them, splashing and squealing in the gentle waters. A large pool had formed in this part of the forest, its shallow waters a bright and peaceful blue-green. There's a queen to your right, watching the little ones with a bright smile and pleasant look upon her face. Beyond her you can see large rocks, hollowed out by the flow of water and the progression of time. Cats milled about, eating prey and chatting idly. These are not the killers you'd been lead to believe in. One she-cat approaches you, looking more stern than the rest. She's clearly young, maybe even younger than you. "Hello there," she meows. Her voice is calm and serious and sends out no warning signals. "I'm Springstar, leader of MistClan." Her gaze sweeps out over the cats, a gentle smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. "You've done well to make it this far. Come, rest. Maybe you'll even stay. We can use cats like you. Strong, quick, silent." She gives a little purr, then turns and enters the camp through a small dip in the ground, covered by an overhanging of moss.
Maybe this clan isn't what it was made out to be. Rumors aren't very trustworthy, after all.
I'm sure I'll keep adding to this as I remember things, but if anyone actually read all of that and has an interest, I'd appreciate any help I can get c:
