I almost gave my mom a heart attack one night. I saw a flashing light at my window and the way I described it she thought it was someone shining a flashlight in my window.
Turned out it was a Lightning Bug.
She had fallen down and hurt her knee when I told her about it because she thought someone was snooping around, and it was just a little Lightning Bug. She was a little cranky, rightfully so. Now she teases me about it and I feel like she wants to torture me with embarrassing stories of me. Because I'm me, there's way to many of those T3T

Never heard of a lightning bug. I know rollie pollies are called pill bugs or doodle bugs, and that crayfish are also crawfish or crawdads, but lightning bugs are beyond me.

Both, but I do call them fireflies most of the time.
And then I'd like to make myself believe that the planet Earth turns slowly. XD

I have a Seattle dialect, where we say "Firefly."
According to maps, the place where I live says prominently "lightning bugs" however.
