So, at the end of BrS, Bramblestar figures out what Yellowfang and Firestar's prophecy meant - that he could never be mates with Jessy because blood ties are more important.
Rereading the book, that is the biggest bull I've read in a while.
That's like StarClan telling Brightheart not to be mates with Cloudtail because he used to be a kittypet - and the same goes for Firestar, right?
I mean, I know what the Erins meant by it. The storm brought Bramblestar and Squirrelflight closer together, and Jessy herself agrees that Squirrelflight is meant to be Bramblestar's mate, and that the blood ties should be more important than the first kittypet he meets.
BUT STILL, they way they worded it seems kind of crazy.

First of all, why is there a prophecy for that!?

I haven't read that book and don't plan to but...
Yeah I have to agree with Holly here. Wasn't there also an omen in TNP about how Bramble and Squirrel would be together? Why does StarClan even care about peoples love lives??

Where did you even get that interpretation from? That's not what the prophecy was referring to at all, it was referring to Bramblestar's blood ties to Tawnypelt and how it brought strength. I thought that was made pretty clear in the book.
Bramblestar never loved Jessy anyway.

Here's what annoys me; if the prophecy was supppsedly about inter-Clan sibling/family bonds prevailing, then why wasn't Mothwing involved? She's Bramblestar's half sister, and I feel like they should've at least acknowledged this.
Also, there wasn't really that much reason to have a prophecy at all in that book.

Yes. Even with my (mis)interpretation of the prophecy (heh heh whoops), it still wasn't necessary.
Bramblestar dealing with the storm and trying to be his own leader was enough for the SE, without putting that (mainly useless) prophecy in there to.

Oh, the prophecy being useless is definitely something I agree with. It wasn't really needed, and if they were going to add it in, it should've been handled better. Learning the importance of blood ties isn't really anything new to the series.
