When I first got into the arc I thought they've improved their characters by giving them character growth and a personality. At first, it seemed like they did. Alderheart had low self-esteem everyone can relate to, and Sparkpelt was adorable with a little bit of a fiesty personality, and even a bit arrogant. But now I feel like they tossed these characters aside. Even Twigpaw and Violetpaw seem kinda boring now. Twigpaw is just always sad, but at least Violetpaw seems to have Ivypool's character growth.. either way I just feel like these characters weren't much of an improvement at all. The only once that has an actual personality are Darktail, Needletail and probably even Violetpaw. Everyone else feels so bland and they were tossed aside to collect dust. Does anyone else feel the same?

Yeah, I see what you mean. When I read SS, Alderheart seemed to have lost his worry-mouse and insecure personality, and was just another bland ThunderClan cat. At least, that's just what I thought when I read.

It's such a shame, because these characters started out so promising. Although Twigpaw didn't have much of a personality to begin with from what I can remember, it didn't bother me that much, since she was still likable. Now Sparkpelt has faded into the background, and Alderheart has been reduced to a generic Nice Guy™. Twigpaw spent the entirety of SS angsting, which wasn't really that good for her development.
Needletail by far had the most personality out of the new cast, but obviously she's been disposed of. Violetpaw is also fairly dynamic, albeit not to that extent. However, she did have the most personality out of any of the narrators.
Heck, even Hawkwing of all cats became victim of this; he didn't really show any of his established strong personality in SS.
Alderheart and co. aren't beyond saving. It's still possible that they'll become more complex within the next three books, especially given the Clan loyalty conflict that was set up for DN. Perhaps then the characters could learn lessons about acceptance, letting go, etc. However, given the Erins' record, I doubt that will happen.
