» How long have we lived here? All our lives, I think. All born at the same hospital, all having gone to the same schools. Everything was... normal. I never realized how much I miss those times. My biggest worry was if I was going to fail Autobiography again or not. Simple. I didn't know everyone like I do now. I didn't have to worry about... any of this. It's... crazy, how much one night, in the right conditions, under the right circumstances... can change your life. This was a long time thing coming up. Once it happened, it was clear to see that. It was something that we couldn't avoid. No matter if we liked it or not, we didn't have a say in this, it was going to happen.
I still haven't graduated high school. I don't know if I ever will. This stupid body of mine has made it impossible to deal with being around "normal" people. If I had this happen when I was younger... maybe I could have learned to manage with it. But right now? I can't. It's stupid. It's unfair. But it still happened.
Always wondered why I had orange hair. It's not ginger, it's full on orange. Always wondered why I had amber eyes. Makes sense now, that's for sure. But I'd gladly go back to not knowing why I had my hair color when I was born in a family of blondes and brunettes, why I had such an abnormal eye color when my parents had blue and brown eyes. You probably wondered why you look the way you do, too. We all did.
Why... Why us? What did we ever do to deserve this? Why did we have to be these... creatures? I never asked for this. None of us did. What are we? The internet culture might call us shape-shifters. But that's not fitting. That's not what we are. We aren't human anymore. But we aren't animals. We're a mix of the two into one crazy, hectic mixture.
We're just us. Mutts. Outcasts. Freaks.
Funny name I've given us. We're Radioactive.

» Born in the city of Rapid Falls, Oregon, twelve individuals had been born in the same hospital within five years of each other. They had been put up to experiments their entire lives, unknowingly. Frequent doctor visits, shots, medicine and even a special diet. Their water was even switched, making their DNA slowly over the course of twelve years. And then in the course of one night... everything just... changed.
What exactly happened, it's hard to say. But the twelve had been grouped up together at a little school party. There had been loud noises, blaring lights and... so many people. Their entire lives, they've looked... a little different., seemed a little different. That night, they were given a reason why they looked and acted so different.
They were not fully human.
It was all a blur, but each of the twelve got sick. They had to rush outside, completely in pain, the world spinning around them. Maybe it was something in the music that played a certain tone that triggered the physical change or maybe it was something in the punch. But it had started.
After fifteen minutes of being in agony everything had changed. They opened their eyes and... they were not human. Hands? No. Hooves, talons, paws maybe even nothing. They were not human.
And then they ran off. Somehow got all grouped up together. When they changed back into human forms, even those were altered. Teeth, eyes, some even had markings. It was a nightmare.
--------------------------------------
So. Basically. These teens and young adults have the ability to now shift into a certain animal, none of them being the same. Their hair color(s), eye color(s) and such, the patterns on the skin and all that, it reflects their animal. For an example, someone who is of the tiger would have feline eyes, sharp teeth, be unable to eat much other than meat and have faint tiger stripe patterns on their skin. Their senses are enhanced to fit that of their animal as well. How it happens, it's completely unknown. When they shift into animal form, they defy physics. But that's not our concern.
They're on the run. These twelve teens or young adults, they have to run and hide. Their bodies are weak and under stress and such, they might unintentionally shift into their animal forms and stay that way until they're better. They still have a human mind, their memories and such staying in tact when shifting. Once again, don't ask me how, they defy the laws of physics.
Stressed, overly exhausted, nervous or being sick. These conditions can cause them to shift without warning. They can still speak like a human and retain their voice as well. They can make their animal sound as well, but also speak if they wish to. And their animal seems attracted to them and listen to their command, typically.
They're being hunted, however, and have to stay on the move. Otherwise it's a life-time of testing and cages. And that's something that... no one wants, really.

» forum rules.
this is pretty obvious. you should follow the rules that we agreed to follow upon signing up for this. if you need to go check them out, i suggest you do that before joining.
» literacy.
this is going to be an advanced role-play, a minimum of semi-advanced allowed. i love long descriptive replies and that's mostly what i would like to see. proper grammar and all that should be within your post as well.
» activity.
this is a very important rule. do not join and never come back. this drives me crazy and i will get cross and snappy with you if this happens. if you're active everywhere else but here, i will become irritated with you incredibly. i want you here three times a week, which shouldn't be asking too much of you. if you're here and posting elsewhere, but avoiding posting here i will give you two warnings. third time is when i kick you.
» role-playing.
god-modding. power-playing. spot-lighting. these three things are a major no-no. i don't want to see this. at all. no one is all powerful, no one is allowed to role-play others' characters without permission, no one is allowed to be center stage with over-dramatization role-play respectfully or else i will ask you to find somewhere else to role-play.
