(i'm so sorry about the late reply, i just was busy and temporarily forgot about the forum. Won't happen again i swear)

The light grey tom wondered what was going on in Hawkclaw's mind. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind as they reached camp. Cats peered over at the three anxiously and timidly. Talonstar made his way over to them with an unimpressed look, though his eyes were a mix between worry and bemusement. "What happened?" The black and grey tom asked the two, though shook the thought away since they were a bit occupied and could't exactly talk. "Take the loner to the medicine cat den. Hawk claw, I want to talk to you afterwards." Talonstar ordered. Stonefur was fully taken aback when he picked up on the edge of grief to his leader's mew and a group of cats surrounding something he couldn't make out, but he had a sinking feeling he knew what it was.

(XD I didn't want to get attached. JK, just didn't want to put in the effort. Let's just name him, Idk, Thistlefall.)

Stonefur helped lay down Ace before shaking his head. "We can only ask Starclan for it not to be so." He then made his way out of the den and sullenly walked over to the fallen deputy. He settled dawn beside him and laid his nose in the tom's fur, feeling the lingering warmth. Of course, we weren't gone very long and the sun is out. It will be a while until his pelt looses its heat. Thistlefall had been Stonefur's mentor and a good friend to him, it hurt him deeply to see such a great friend fall to a bad fever. "Thistlefall, may Starclan guide you safely to good hunting and everlasting peace. Thank you for helping me, even after I became a warrior." He breathed into the tom's fur, murmurs hovering on his pelt, but no cat bothering to listen to what others were saying.

Talonstar padded over to Hawkclaw as the she-cat emerged from the medicine cat den. "Hawkclaw," He began, "I need a full report. How was this cat injured, where was he found and were there any other loners with him." He required. It was one last test. He had until moonhigh to decide on the next deputy and Hawkclaw was definitely on the list.

(He wasn't using a hard tone. I would have put it in my post if he was.If anything, with the last sentence and no emotion put in, his tone was probably calm, but edged with grief and stress, but, by far, not harsh)

Talonstar sighed. She has the makings for a find leader, but how can I make her deputy if she's frightened by just giving a report. It's times like these she needs to stand strong."Of course not, I would never think leaving a cat to die is the right option. We're hesitant, not cruel. As for the dogs," He replied. We should strengthen patrols along the unknown territory, where the dogs are most likely coming in from. "...what do you suppose we do about it?" If she made a good, strong decision, he would probably make her deputy. A moon in the position and her self confidence would surely be strong by then and she was smart about not letting cats die if they don't need to. Just a bit of strategy and she would make a fine deputy.

Talonstar nodded, "Good. Then that's what we'll do. At sunfall, when all the patrols and hunting parties have returned, I have an announcement to make." He informed her, leaving a large underlay that she would be the next deputy.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather around the high stump for a clan meeting." Talonstar called from his place on the tree stump. The sky was a crisp blue at the top, settling into an amber-pink with hints of the inky night that awaited behind it. Once every cat eligible had gathered, he began again, taking note of the spot where Thistlefall's body had been earlier, but the tom was now buried. "We have lost a great deputy, warrior, clanmate, but most of all, we have lost an amazing friend. May Starclan guide our dear friend to good hunting and a newel that lasts forever." He began, pausing for a moment as cats murmured their solemn agreement. "With every great loss, there is always a great rise that follows. This cat has fought through discrimination, has proven herself many times over and shows all the qualities needed for a deputy. I say these words before the spirit of Thistlefall, so that his spirit may hear and approve my choice. Hawk claw, I believe you have the makings to be a wonderful leader. You will be the new deputy of Honeyclan." He finished and voices rose with cheers. "Hawkclaw! Hawkclaw!" The chant rose up as cats voiced their approval.

Stonefur bounded over to Hawkclaw. "Wow, Hawkclaw." You're amazing. "Congratulations on becoming deputy, I know you'll do great!" He mewed happily, fully confident in her abilities.

Talonstar leaped down from the stump and made his way over to the prey pile, pulling out a mouse and settling down to eat. Starclan, please let me have made the right choice. He hadn't been expecting Thistlefall's sudden death, to put it bluntly. He thought the tom'd recover, but it seemed the sickness was to much for the old deputy. The leader could only hope that Hawkclaw was the best choice.

Ashstar laid lazily in his den and listened to the sounds coming from outside. So far everything was going along smoothly. Ashstar ended up dozing off and looked up in surprise at the Starclan cat. "Y-Yes?" He mewed bit surprised to see a starry cat. 

Dawnleap purred in amusement at the surprise in Ashstar's voice then roughly shook her head. This was not the time to be amused. "There's something you need to know. Heed my words and don't forget them, this is the only warning you'll get." She cautioned him so he'd pay close attention. "When ashes turn to life, And the moon deems it right, While the birds are trilling, The storm will draw near, And thunder will be upon you." She jumped down from her perch when she was finished and gave him a serious look before turning to leave.

After everyone had gone to do their own thing hawkclaw went to the prey pile, and found Talonstar eating a mouse nearby. Hawkclaw picked out a hare and laid it by her paws "Why pick me?" She asked " Stonefur is much more like you. Won't we disagree about certain actions? " It was not every day that a loner became the deputy of a clan, and Hawkclaw knew that the ones that did had to be very good.
