Bryn moved toward her favorite secluded part of the park. The park was her favorite place to wander and this k. Or more importantly, read. An old, paper back copy of the original Sherlock Holmes book was open and held gently in front of her. Although she'd read the book more times then she could count, the wit of the greatest detective of time. Well, in her opinion. Bryn looked up at a surprised shout to see a girl fall from a tree. Was it raining girls now? She watched the other girl attempt to help. Although the fallen one did not seem interested. Despite Bryn's urge to go and be social, she settled on a small wave in the girls direction.

Wysten had moved so that he was in a better position from which to observe whilst also appearing to be largely uninterested, his body angled toward the large map of the subway though the tilt of his head allowed him to scan the three straightening figures from the corner of his eye. A brief assessment revealed that he had been correct in his assumption (of course he was) that they were intended targets, and he slipped a battered notepad and pen from his jacket pocket to record discerning qualities that would make it easier to locate them later.
Wysten wasn't particularly skilled at reading others in a social sense or paying much attention to those who hadn't been sorted into the 'Friend' or 'Foe' categories, but he never forgot an energy signature- hence his temporary demotion. It was probably best that he not engage them and simply take note for future reference; he had a tendency to put strangers on edge, especially when his energy had yet to calm from the haze of battle. While he could usually rein it in, it was still a belligerent presence that ensured a certain measure of distance between himself and others. Which was probably why he was caught off-guard when a voice sounded closer than he'd expected it to.
"'Scuse me."
He had been so absorbed in committing them to memory and attempting to sort out the golden blond's panicky headache-inducing buzzing that Wysten registered the approach of the sole female too late. Her head was down, hood up to shadow her sharp features, which he scrutinized as well as he could whilst offering a reflexive smile. "Ah, am I in your way?" He moved aside as she did the same, sidestepping him. "Sorry about that." Though he may bring to mind someone who had been chewed up and spit out of a military school- or on his worse days- someone who remained firmly on the wrong side of the tracks and engaged in the expected activities, Wysten was aware that his voice didn't quite suit either image. Though deep as one would expect, it held a warm and amiable quality that he attempted to affect in his mannerisms. They didn't always match up, but his smiles were apparent, at least.
The notepad was flipped shut and he ran a hand through his hair yet again, this time in an attempt to return some form of order to it as he watched her leave with a pensive gaze. She felt strong; the kind of strength that was favored above the majority. He hoped that she could continue to live as she always had- or better- without the malevolent shadows that dogged his brother's steps.
'One down.' Wysten clicked his tongue thoughtfully as he returned the notepad and idly twirled the pen, wondering if he should pretend to have forgotten his ticket in order to escape the tension left in the girl's wake. While the teen was largely unaffected, his rescuer remained wary to a slightly concerning degree. Concerning because it hadn't been Wysten's intention to startle or present himself as a threat- he would need to mend their impression of him if he wanted to make proceedings smoother.
'What would Sylvi do?' He wondered, leaning to the right in an attempt to catch his reflection in a metal support. Slightly warped, but he could clearly make out the angry red line running diagonally across the bridge of his nose. Traces of blood at the corners of his mouth. Dark circles under his eyes, and the crescent-shaped scar that marred the skin spanning the distance between his right eye and sharp jawline. At least his expressive gaze no longer gave the impression that he was liable to dropkick the next person to speak to him.
'Small victories.' Wysten flipped the pen a final time and returned it to his pocket. From what he could decipher of their differing wavelengths, the older one was an Empath, which meant he would first have to box up his leftover aggression in order to give him a break. And after that- would engaging them do more harm than good? Possible. Lingering in the shadows wasn't exactly doing him any favors. It was best to retreat while his threat level was still undecided.
'Count backwards from ten and-' Depleted as he was, remnants of energy from recent combat tended to drift around on standby, and it was these stragglers that Wysten absorbed and forced into dormancy. He cleared his mind as he did so, wiping it free of the stress and worry that usually plagued it to be replaced by thoughts of home- His old home- and the smell of his sister's baking. Lazy Sundays spent reading on the roof and other such serene thoughts. It was a trick he was forced to develop after an encounter with another whose powers revolved around emotions, and gave a new meaning to the commonly used nickname, 'Ten'. Not merely borrowed from his given name, it had originally been associated with his 'Ten Count Temper'. The meaning now tended to vary depending on whether he was calming himself or too far gone to attempt it.
Fortunately, it was the latter, and Wysten slowly opened eyes he hadn't realized had been closed to assess the blond's current state. The improvement wasn't easily read, but he felt better knowing that it was one less weight for the other to shoulder. "I apologize for being unable to do more- we'll be in touch." He assured softly, lifting a gloved hand in a lazy salute though he was fairly certain they couldn't see him. Just as well. The action might have upped him from Possible Threat to Possibly Delusional Threat.
The first phase of his mission accomplished, Wysten whirled on his heel to leave the way he'd come, slipping his phone from his pocket as he did so.
"Of course. When have you ever known me to fail?- Don't you dare answer that." He rolled his eyes at the laughter on the other end of the line, finding an answering smile curve his lips despite his best efforts to remain stern. "Email your report, I might be away for a while."

((Thanks! And sorry about that, Frosty. ^^' I also apologize for the length of my post, I was trying to show more of Ten's personality so you guys would have a better idea of who he is. xj I appreciate that you see him as cute, he's a character I literally just created and I kind of love him already too. This is also the first time I'm roleplaying a compassionate character with a fiery temper. Or a character with a fiery temper period...They tend to only appear in my stories. Oh! And I hope no one minds that he kind of comes with a plot attached? If so, I don't mind having him shadowbox in his own story while you guys write yours. ^^'
Aand because I haven't mentioned it yet- I imagine him to be 20 going on 21.))

Jack smiled his suspicion confirmed "Maybe" he said winking at Mikel, though his smile didn't last long Someones here? he thought slipping off his bag and unzipping it to retrieve a pair of wire cutters while Aiden walked away. "Good riddance" he mumbled he didn't want anyone else seeing him using his powers if the people/person that Mikel detected was a enemy. he finally caught hold of his pair of wire cutters. "Don't ask about what i normally use these for." Jack said calmly to Mikel, though wire-cutters weren't the best or Jacks usual weapon of choice, it would do for now. And he could use it to get past any chain locked wire fences.

(hey ) Mikel raised an eyebrow, eyes wide in shock, still holding his head from the overwhelming emotions. "You just have a random pair of wire cutters in your bag?" He asked through gritted teeth. Though, what the boy had commented before really made him curious. So, this kid had powers too? What was his powers? Mikel knew that powers could vary, but he was also aware that nobody else he had come into contact with had the same lingering paranoia of being caught plaguing their mind. Well, now, apparently there was others. The emotions around him started to thin, and he could finally pull his mind back from all the confusing jumbled up feelings. He sighed in relief, droplets of sweat prickling the back of his neck and on his forehead. The emotions of the being before had disappeared, nearly completely. What had happened? Usually, even if the person had walked away, even over one hundred miles away, Mikel should still be able to feel something of there's, some kind of emotion. But now, the being from before was relatively silent. "That's weird..." He muttered, mainly to himself.

Oakley nearly shouted in fear for the girl, afraid for her to fall back down. "H-hey, be careful!" She said, concern filling her voice as she moved closer to the tree. She pressed a hand upon the bark, rough and steady beneath her fingers, and she closed her eyes. Her mind focused on the branches, the leaves, the bark, the soul of the tree in general. The tree's branches began to move slightly to give the girl more of a leaway towards her backpack and headphones. The one she was on started to rise up as well. "Do not let her fall." Oakley whispered, not really telling the tree but giving an image of what was going on, and what needed to happen. No falling out. No hurting the new person climbing over his ancient bones. Just let them wander, let them get their stuff, let them leave him alone. The tree seemed really tired, so tired he was starting to dwendle in his amount of leaves and his bark was thinning. Oakley frowned. Poor guy. "Are you okay?" She called up again towards the girl, "You did fall down. You sure you're not injured anywhere?" tigercry

Akili started when the branches moved and nearly fell off again before she quickly steadied herself with lightning fast reflexes and grabbed both her headphones and her white backpack. "I'm fine, no injuries," she told Oakley with a roll of her eyes, "it's not the first time I've fallen out of a tree before."

Jack was still cautious still holding his wire cutters in a tight grip. "Yes, i do." He lied. Jack looked around the station trying to find anyone watching them "I don't see anyone, where do you think the creep watching us is?" he asked, he had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't a coincidence that someone would be monitoring the two of them. "They might be from the government or something hoping to take down two birds with one stone." he told Mikel, Jack was still curious what Mikel's abilities might be. Mind reading? hoped it wasn't mind reading because Jack wasn't exactly comfortable teaming up with someone who could hear his every thought.

((I'm writing for Sylvi now because I've finally decided on his powers. I figure I should kind of explain his 'starter' before I post it so- The brothers come with a plot/backstory. It isn't exactly original, as it's somewhat reminiscent of Maximum Ride- ^^' Buuut I'm doing my best to personalize it. I don't want to disturb anyone if you guys have your own ideas, so I'm just letting you know ahead of time so you can take it or leave it...If so, as I said before, I can just write that aspect of their lives by myself with occasional encounters with your characters. No biggie~))

The intense outpouring of information- sights, sounds, scents, even the taste of the stale humid air and weight of heated metal in foreign hands- were carefully and methodically sorted through with an ease that had taken the better part of his life to master. Facts were shuffled and placed in their proper categories, their corresponding postulations trailing away from them with mental ribbon to form separate theories based on the presented evidences. The experience was then filed away to be accessed at a later date should he have need for it, and the past fell away to reveal a shadowed corner colored only briefly by crimson smears on the torn wallpaper. The entire ordeal had taken up the span of ten minutes- ten minutes in which nothing moved nor breathed.
Sylvius returned slowly, the hollow pearlescent glow of his eyes gradually darkening into their original green-black. Feeling also returned to his rigid body, locked in a crouch on damp unforgiving cement. He straightened with a wince, attempting to ignore the accompanying cracks and twinges of cramped muscles that had been tensed in what felt like far too long. "Ah, I need to start limbering up before I do anything mental." He mused aloud with a wry twist of his lips, stretching delicately and canting his head so that the only other- well not exactly living, but at least mobile- person in the room could know they were welcome to comment.
"Whatever." Katie rolled her eyes and continued to poke at the dead body propped up in the corner with almost disturbing interest. "Why'd you call me anyway? You already killed this dude."
Sylvius winced, both at her irreverent tone and the word 'kill'. "It was self-defense." He sighed, despite knowing that there was no need to explain himself to her. It was more for his own benefit. "He was a sniper in Lincoln's employ. Would you mind keeping his gun for me? I can't exactly carry it around outside." He pushed it toward her with the toe of his converse, simultaneously slipping on the ebony leather glove that protected him from the unintentional use of his powers.
"Cool." The thirteen year old girl switched her focus to the weapon and lifted it with unfamiliar hands and an appreciative gaze. "Never seen one of these up close before. Only on tv." The usual disinterest in her tone dropped in favor of awe, and Sylvius very carefully didn't look at the gaping bullet hole between her wide blue eyes when he turned to face her. "That will be all." He inclined his head, "Thank you for your assistance." She scowled half-heartedly, likely on reflex, before dematerializing with the weapon still clutched in permanently bloody hands.
The feminine locket he wore burned briefly before dropping drastically in temperature. Accustomed to the shift, Sylvius simply tucked it under his sweater and adjusted his scarf to protect his neck. His association with ghosts resulted in a near permanent chill, which he supposed was part of the reason the sniper had been able to locate him so easily. There weren't many people wandering around in layered clothing when the heat of summer was approaching. The scarf might have been a bit much-
'Salagadoola menchicka boola Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo Put 'em together and what have you got? Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo~!'
Sylvius closed his eyes and tilted his head back, exhale frosting the air as he calmly withdrew the small flip-phone from the folds of his coat and answered without looking at the caller ID. "Who keeps changing my ringtone to Disney Princess songs? How?"
"How do you expect me to know?" Lior sounded entirely too innocent.
"Nevermind that. I expect you have something important to tell me? I'll have to get rid of this phone tonight- I've been called in." His coolly measured tone lowered in distaste, though he was inclined to blame it on the drop as he swung himself out of the broken window and silently made his way across the creaky shale roof.
"I do, actually! Ten found you some new playmates." Sylvius brightened at the mention of his older brother, the reflexive jerk caused by the nickname resulting in his losing his balance and sliding right off the rain-slick shale with a startled yelp. The teen managed to control his fall somewhat and land in a crouch, though it wasn't exactly an easy recovery. Of course he had to fall into the only rose bush left on the property. Lior's lilting laughter was audible even before Sylvius returned the phone to his ear with the resigned weariness of one who had made peace with their fate. Settling into the bush with more dignity than his position warranted, Sylvius pulled up a knee and patiently waited for the younger teen to stop finding joy at the expense of those less fortunate. Not everyone could be born with Lior's magical grace. 'Really now.'
It was also a struggle not to bombard him with questions about his brother's state- They hadn't heard from each other directly in months- But the Kingsleigh Inquisition would make the call run well over the allotted five minutes. "Finished yet." He deadpanned, combing leaf debris from his hair with what he stubbornly refused to acknowledge as a pout. "And I'm not currently at liberty to 'play' with any new friends at the moment. I've already been inducted into a game of hide and seek."
"I wish I could've seen it." Lior sounded rueful, but sobered quickly. "Noted. I'll take pity on you and tell you the good news first-"
"Two minutes or less."
"We're playing the same game!" His tone and word choice were much too bright for what he was implying. Sylvius straightened rigidly. "Wysten-"
"All good! He's fine, and you can see for yourself because we have something for you to do here that will tie into the Witch's plans. Are you still afraid of trains?"

Oakley accepted the girl's words with hesitance and smiled up at her. "Well...okay then. What are you doing up there, anyway?" She asked, hand still on the tree. From the tree's perspective, she could sense that the girl had been there for a little while, maybe even before Oakley had wondered to the park.
(these are most likely all going to be short. i'm sorry Dx)
Mikel listened to the boy's words, though his main focus was on trying to figure out the emotions in his space. He could feel Jack's emotions clearly, and he was aware of his own. There was a couple wondering on the streets outside, and he could feel their love in his mind. It made him shiver. Though, he could no longer sense the new person any longer. And he felt that it wasn't a good thing, either. "I don't know. I can't feel their emotions anymore..." He muttered, before realizing that the boy didn't know about his powes, "Oh, er, if you do have those...abilities I was talking about before, then I guess I'll let you know mine. I'm an Empath. I can sense other people's emotions, but much more than any other empath could. Mind can be sensed over distances." He tilted his head, still focusing on the emotions around him, "I never caught your name...I'm Mikel." The sensation that something was terribly wrong continued to plague Mikel's mind. Something was just...off. He was glad he'd packed his collection of small throwing knives, even though he rarely ever used them. They were more of a emergency kind of weapon, anyway. He worked on defense, not offense. Though, something felt off about this situation and Mikel was sure he'd need those knives soon.

Akili shrugged as she slung her backpack over one shoulder and promptly jumped out of the tree before landing lightly on her feet like jumping from fifteen feet up was the most casual thing in the world. "Blending in with nature I guess, unless you count getting away from people for a while as a good reason." She put the headphones around her neck and tucked the cord into one of her hoodie's two pockets on the front before asking Oakley a similar question to the one Oakley had asked her. "What're you doing over here? Enjoying the outdoors I'm guessing?" She mused, gripping one of the straps of her backpack and brushing her blond bangs from her face.
