Levi smiled, strolling casually through the kennels. He was headed towards his own dogs, two spaniels named Lilly and Oliver. Lacking any responsibilities before the start of classes, and preferring not to sit around doing nothing, he planned to take them out for a bit, give them some attention and exercise. He figured they probably missed him, as he hadn't stopped by in a day or two, and they'd been his almost constant companions at home. Finally he reached their home in the kennel, stepping inside to the sound of excited barks. Charlotte leaned over a math text book in the library, biting her lip slightly. She twirled a pencil between her fingers, eyes scanning across the problem. She'd never been one for math, and really wasn't enjoying having to study to catch-up with what her class the semester would expect of her. But she'd enjoy being behind even less, so here she was, trying to cram three lessons into just a few hours so she didn't have to do it another time. The problem was the book was dull enough she could barely understand it, much less learn from it. While Luce had never personally owned a dog (they were all her father's animals), she had grown up around animals all her life. Horses, pigs, cats, dogs, chickens... you name it she had it at some point in her life. That was one of the perks to having a country villa. It was her own personal escape from the city life where there were more buildings than birds. She loved the animals; she had even thought about pursuing a career dedicated to them. Whenever, her life as a royal became a nightmare -which sadly was quite often - she turned to them for comfort.
So it really was no surprise that Luce found herself in the kennels. Again. Some days she would head to the stables to stroke the beautiful beasts called horses, but more often or not she went to the kennels. Squatting in front of the cage of the most friendly dog she had ever met, she reached her hand through the bars and scratched it's fluffy ear. It's tailed waged at the speed of light, but stopped as the door to the kennels opened. Quickly, she stood up, her pleasant facade slipping into place all too fast. Force of habit, to look dignified in front of others. She rotated her head to see who had come in.

Levi noticed Luce in front of him, rising out of her crouch by the cages the second he walked in. He offered her a charismatic smile, his eyes already straying towards the sightly larger than average cage that housed his own two dogs. "Good afternoon," he offered with a polite nod, continuing his slow pace towards his spaniels. Had he been alone, he probably would have broken out into a short lived run, as the two dogs were already at the edge of their cage, watching him and barking in greeting. Levi smiled again, this one much softer and seemingly meant for the two animals he'd practically raised himself. They both barked excitedly as he approached, almost pushing each other out of the way in an attempt to be as close to the edge of the cage, and him, as they could. Finally, he reached them, one hand reflexively landing on each of their heads through the grating, his eyes looking around for the leashes he knew he'd hung nearby.

[ I'm just gonna post a starter for anyone ]
Jules sat on a bench in the gardens where he happily let the sun wash over him. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and smiled at the smell of all the flowers around him. The ones he loved the most though were the blossoms on the lemon trees. They reminded him of home. Slowly standing, the prince walked over to the lemon trees and cupped one of the blossoms in his hands to get a better smell. Ah, just like home. A soft smile spread across his lips.
Elio was in the stables, brushing the horses. He had just bathed one that had laid down in muck. "There you go girl..." He murmured under his breath, finishing up one of the last ones. Kissing her nose, he moved onto the final one which happened to be his favorite. Poor Elios, he didn't like to choose favorites, but Blacksmith just bonded so well with him. "Here, boy." His voice was soft and smooth, drawing the horse in so he could brush him.

It was a long, rough day for me and my family.)
Luce smoothed down her baby blue blouse and dusted her skinny jeans off before flashing a gentle smile at the young man and saying in near perfect English, "Good afternoon." She watched him approach the kennels of the two spaniels with her head slightly cocked to the side in interest. She opened her mouth to ask him about the dogs, but nothing came out. She rung her hands, trying to bring herself to strike a conversation with a random stranger. She knew that he had to be someone of importance because everyone at Ivy Academy was important. She looked behind her and then back towards the man in front of her. Taking a deep breath, she almost forgot to speak in English, "Are those your dogs?"
Luce felt empowered in starting the conversation. In her family, she didn't speak unless spoken too and that was hardly ever. Pride bloomed in her chest. It was a small win, one that others would never hope to understand. She smiled widely and kept talking, "They're beautiful."

"Yes, they're mine," Levi offered, removing his hands from the dogs and turning to look at Luce. He offered the same charismatic smile, his right hand reaching out to grab the leashes he'd just spotted. He absentmindedly wrapped them around his hand, listening to her compliment. He could tell from the way she stood that she was simultaneously nervous and excited or happy. He forced his stance to relaxing, trying to seem at ease and confident even though his own nerves were already starting to build. "Thank you," he said as she finished speaking, turning to look back at them.
"She's Lilly," he said, gesturing softly towards the dog who was mostly white with a few chestnut spots scattered across her body. "And he's Oliver," he continued, his hand waving towards the second dog, who was almost fully chestnut with just a few spots of white along his muzzle and chest. "They're King Charles Spaniels, and both technically Blenheim, though Oliver's more of an imperfect Ruby," he finished, realizing he'd kind of rambled about them. He hadn't meant to, normally more subscribed to the philosophy of letting other people talk, but he loved his dogs. He'd raised them, how could he not?
(Sorry this took so long, I was in a car on the way back from seeing the Little Shop of Horrors musical, and it was pretty crowded, so I couldn't type on my phone.)

(Sorry this took so long, I was in a car on the way back from seeing the Little Shop of Horrors musical, and it was pretty crowded, so I couldn't type on my phone.) Don't worry about. I've been super stressed out with life recently. It's been a really tough couple of weeks for my family so I might be off and on.)
Luce took a moment to admire the dogs, a smile coming to her face at the sight of their excitement and joy. They really were beautiful dogs, breathtaking actually. She carefully approached the pen so not to scare them (or the young man beside her) off, "Ciao Lily e Oliver. Il tuo padrone deve amarti molto. Egli parla molto bene di voi." Her words slipped off her tongue seemlessly in a way that her English had not. It felt nice to speak in her native launguage. Since coming to Ivy Academy, she had mostly spoken English and a few other languages that she wasn't as familiar with.
Luce then turned to Levi, a bit flustered for ignoring him and speaking to his dogs. She smiled downat him from outside the cage, "I've never owned dogs before but my father had years ago. I think we had some kind of Italian sheepdog. Very different from yours." Then she blushed as she realized she was probably holding him up. He had been holding those leashes for quite some time, "I apologize if I am holding you up."

Levi smiled at the way she relaxed and talked to them so calmly. He could easily relate to feeling safer and more comfortable around dogs than around the people that owned them. It was also interesting to hear her speak to them in what seemed to be her native language. It explained the ever so slight accent she'd sported when speaking English, and how careful she'd seemed about it. He could speak two of New Zealand's official languages, English and Maori, and could sign the third well enough, along with being vaguely conversational in one or two others. Of course, he had the benefit of English being his first language, making everything easier.
"Very beautiful dogs," he said, opening the cage and kneeling to snap the collars and leashes onto them. Then he stood and turned back to her with his signature smile never slipping. "It's no bother, I just planned on taking them out on a walk. You could come with us if you like?" he offered, lifting one of the leashes as an offering. It was always better to be polite than to dismiss another royal without a thought. Plus, she hadn't seemed bothered at all by him talking so much about Lilly and Oliver, and that was refreshing in and of itself. Most of the politicians he was used to were more interested in connections than conversations he actually enjoyed.
(It's fine, I'm pretty busy with school (finals and ap tests) right now anyways. And I won't really get that long a break after school is over, my summer's packed.)

And I won't really get that long a break after school is over, my summer's packed.) Luce bit her lip as she thought about his offer. She wanted to go with him but she didn't want to inconvenience him or intrude on his private moment with his pets. Would it be more rude of her to accept the offer or to reject it? She tossed and turned with the idea until she reached the conclusion that she should just do what she wanted to for once. After all, Ivy Academy was her chance for a new start: to become the person she wanted to be, and live a life she created. It would be hard for her to overcome years of training and shaping, but she was confident in herself.
The royal took one of the leases gently and gave a pure, radiant smile, "I would love too." She gripped the leash like a weapon and readied herself to go on a walk with a complete stranger. Then her manners kicked in, "I forgot to introduce myself earlier. My name is Luce." She dipped her head slightly in belated greeting.

"Levi," he said, dropping into a soft bow, more of a joke than an actual formality. "It is wonderful to meet you Luce," he continued, moving the leash to his left hand to offer his right for a hand shake. He was pleased that she'd accepted, mostly because he could tell that she enjoyed the idea, and he'd been told it was best to stay on everyone's good side at Ivy Academy. It would be pretty easy, if everyone was as nice as she was being.
"Would you like to go now?" Levi asked, gesturing towards door to the kennel with his left hand. He was already trying to decide the best place to go. He'd taken his dogs out a few times already, and knew some of the pretty parts of the campus. It was just a question of what he wanted to do. The trails would be nice for an actual walk, but there was also a pretty nice, clear hill that was a good place if the dogs were more interested in playing and running in circles.
