"Oh! Just order pizza," she repeated, a slight smile and her tone of voice the main clues that she'd switched over to teasing-her-siblings mode. "Do you have the money for that pizza, Mr. Italian Restaurant Waiter? I sure don't," she retorted, "Besides, there's way too much grease on the delivery pizzas."
Maria turned to one of the other cabinets and fished out a mostly empty jar of peanut butter and one of the heels of a loaf of bread. It wasn't the best, but it was better than nothing, and way better than cooking.

Zico snorted and walked out of the kitchen, headed into the living room. "You underestimate how much I make, 'lil sis. But you're right, delivery pizzas aren't ideal." He let out a small sigh as he lay down on the couch, taking up the entire space. "Too bad you can't drive, then you could make a snack run." Zico loved his family, he loved his siblings and his parents and their house...but with eleven kids running around, snacks that were bought one day were gone before the next and hiding food was a futile task (Zico had tried many times, but ever since Jackson was moved in his room, it'd been impossible to hide much of anything). "How do you feel about walking to the store?"

"Too far. I've got to have the energy to practice my dance routines today. Plus I have another few math problems I just took a break from," Maria called through the house as she scrapped the last dregs of the peanut butter on the bread. After, she folded the heel in half, dumped the knife in the dishwasher, and followed Zico towards the living room. Once there, she leaned against the doorway and said. "Of course... You could drive me if you wanted to be my favorite big brother for the day?" She grinned and took a bite of the half sandwich, trying to focus more on the taste of the peanut butter than the crust. It would have been fine if it had been one of the bakery's fancier loaves, but it was just the normal wheat that she hated.

Zico stared at his sister through half closed eyes, wondering if it was really worth it to get out of the house again. He was hungry and craving crisps, that much was undeniable. But he didn't really see what the benefit of being Maria's 'favorite big brother' was. "Come on, you only have two older brothers. And between me and Jax we both know I'm better." There was a slight upwards tilt to Zico's lips and he let out a low groan as he lifted himself off the couch and stretched. "But fine. Let's go. Maybe if I smuggle a bag of crisps into my room before Jax gets home he'll never find it." That was wishful thinking, really, because if Jax didn't find it, then one of his other ten siblings surely would.
As he made his way to the front door, Zico called out over his shoulder, "Finish the sandwich first. I don't need crumbs in the car. I'll be waiting outside."

Maria shoved the rest of the sandwich in her mouth, for once appreciating the small size of a heel. She snatched her purse from her school supply pile, pulling the strap over her head and checking how much of her allowance she had left as she walked.
"You could hide some crisps in my dance bag if you want. It smells enough from whatever sport whoever had it before me played that nobody else goes near it. I swear I've washed it a thousand times, but foot stink never goes away. I'd just advise that whatever you put in it is fully sealed so the smell doesn't leach in. It ruins the taste." She offered as she caught up to him, her mind flashing to the chocolate bar she'd had to throw away from making that mistake herself. It smelled far too much like foot to even attempt eating, considering taste was affected by smell.

Zico slid into the driver's seat of the car, scrunching up his nose at the thought of the smell that must come from Maria's dance bag. But he shrugged and nodded, "That's actually not a bad idea. I might have to take you up on that." No way Jackson would even think to go near that bag. He started the engine and checked the mirrors, waiting for Maria to buckle her seat belt before pulling out onto the road. "Should we get food for the others, too? Or let them deal with it themselves?"

"Mmmm... Maybe we could get them a single box of biscuits to split?" She joked, watching the scenery go by. "Oh! A single serving size bag of nuts? Or is that too cruel?"
Maria switched back to looking at Zico as the got closer to the store, one hand moving towards the radio nobs. "Music?" she asked, her eyes glancing at the current station so she knew how far to turn for the one she liked.

Zico grinned, shaking his head. "No I think that's perfect." He spared a glance towards the radio before nodding. "Music would be nice, yeah." The current station was just some guy talking about real estate. Basically just mindless droning in the background. Zico didn't normally change the station unless he was heading somewhere that was over ten minutes away. He sometimes wished that they had one of those cars where you could connect your phone to the radio and play music that way, but with a family of thirteen mouths to feed, he doubted that his parents would be investing in something like that anytime soon.
The closest grocery store was only about ten-fifteen minutes away, but some music would help pass the time spent waiting on red lights.

"Alright. Any suggestions?" She asked, although she was changing the station before he could even respond. Maria grinned, quickly adjusting the dial to her favorite station. It took mere seconds for the sugary pop music to start playing through the speakers, and only a few seconds more than that for her to turn it up louder. She dropped her hand to her lap, waiting to see how he'd react to the sudden change in radio stations and volume. Her mischievous streak was getting the better of her today. She did have to do something to fill the empty time during their trip though.

Zico was about to respond when Maria went ahead and changed the station. Apparently her question had been rhetorical. It wasn't that Zico particularly disliked this...this music. It was just that he wasn't a fan of it, either. So he couldn't help it if he wrinkled his nose and when Maria turned the volume up, he rolled his eyes and reached over before the light turned to bring the volume back down. "Geez...don't have to blow my eardrums out. Honestly, though, how do you listen to this stuff on a daily basis?" Maybe if Zico hadn't discovered Suga and that particular brand of hard rap and hip hop, he'd be ok with this kind of music. But listening to hip hop on a daily basis does not prepare one for the kind of gooey music currently coming out of the car speakers.

"I don't listen to it on a daily basis. I don't always get to choose the music in the car." She replied with a shrug. "I also listen to lots of classical for ballet. And the slower pop songs for lyrical. But I can change it if you prefer something else. As long as the words are in English." The last part was paired with a finger pointing at him, although it was clearly more of a tease than the warning her gesture implied. She did mean it, though. She'd never been able to really enjoy music if she couldn't understand the words. It wasn't completely lost on her either, but she did prefer to be able to appreciate all of the music, not just part of it.
(Hey, it's getting pretty late where I live, and I've got school tomorrow, some I'm probably going to have to go for the night. This was lots of fun though! Have a good night/day, depending on your time zone!)

(ahh I apologize for not rp'ing Jasp yet, but I just started school and it's been a hassle keeping track of things this week haha)
Mindlessly tumbling around in the worn comforter sitting upon his bed, Jasper devoured the words on the page in front of him. The book he was reading, The Testing, was one he'd enjoyed ever since it came out. "No, I do not want to be alone. Awake, I am having trouble keeping Ryme’s lifeless eyes out of my head. Asleep, I will be defenseless to stop her from haunting me." he murmured, following the sentences as he got lost in yet another fictional world. Reading was one of Jasp's favored hobbies, and the boy had read more books than he could count. Near the foot of his bed sat a tall bookshelf, brimming with thick novels and torn pages that he flipped through every so often.
