she definitely thinks it's a bug and wants to eat it. I have had chickens do this to me before.

Awww, she's curious about them! Chickens have an incredible sense of sight; they are sensitive to to the ultraviolet light spectrum. Basically, they see color better than humans. As babies, chickens are kinetic learners, and so most of what they do in their early stages of life consist of pecking anything and everything that sticks out to them. Since your freckles are a different color than your normal skin, she's seeing if they're edible or not XD When my girls were babies, they'd peck at the side of their brooder box all day and all night, which was funny, but also super annoying lol. Sorry to ramble, I own seven of them and love them all btw, even as adults they do this. I had my easter egger peck all of the rhinestones off a pair of jeans I owned while I was napping outside.

They do! We were concerned they'd eat the wood shavings, but most of them figured out those weren't so tasty XD and dude, just a little secret: they LOVE grapes. Once they are big enough, I highly recommend those as a treat, it's so much fun to watch them eat them. My mom texted me in the middle of a class when we had our first batch of little ones, and it was hilarious
