"Ahhh," Myrnin said, with sudden amused understanding. "That might explain some things. But ... yes. Though it's all rather temporary, so make of that what you will." His nose did wrinkle up at the messy eating method. As if he was one to talk. "Ah yes. The trash in trash out method. I'm sure that melted ickiness will be lovely inside." He sighed and rolled his eyes just a little. He watched the bulging eyes with mild interest. Then said, carefully, "The House sometimes likes to give deadly rooms. Death is highly possible. Don't worry too much. It just feels like dying. You come back." Normal tone of voice. Boy, the desensitization went deep. He just kind of indicated the fire and said, "Relax. I'm not going to eat you or anything. I'm not the bear from my story." No mention of being a vampire. Yet.

"You bet it will," Gintoki grumbled as he wiped his dirty mouth with the sleeve of his yukata. He made a mental note to ask Shinpachi to wash his clothes later (cause he's sure as hell can't trust Kagura with it). However, the air of nonchalance he carried himself with vanished as Myrnin explained the mechanics of the House. A place that forced you into dangerous rooms, capable of bringing you back to life if you failed...?
The samurai's hand moved down to grip the bokuto at his side.
"...what kind of twisted game is this?" His expression darkened as he kept his steady gaze on the brown haired man. The fact he could say something so grim in his usual tone...just how much death and violence had this guy witnessed in the House?
"How...long have you been coming here for?"
Frankly, Gintoki wasn't sure whether or not he really wanted to know the answer to his question.

"... Good question," Myrnin said, his voice suddenly quiet. He hadn't a proper way of gauging the time. Never mind House constructed time. "I couldn't say, honestly. Time measured spent back in my world? Oh, five to eightish years, I'd say. But you return to the exact moment you left, so, like ... days could pass here and not even a second back in your world, so really, it's no telling." He sounded vaguely amused by this notion, despite the terrifying concept. "As for the twisted game? Oh, I can assure you there are plenty of people who agree with you on that opinion. It is quite twisted. I would quite like to say." A flash of cold fury in his eyes and then gone again. A brief second where it was clear Myrnin hated the House. But, just as quickly, the look disappeared. It was a complicated hate. "What would you like to do while you're here for the first time? Partake in the favorite of oh so many others? Play the game since there is nothing better to do? Or some unspoken consequences for not playing? Really, it's a time here, I assure."

"Five to eight years...?" Dread crawled down Gintoki's back. What kind of crap did he get dragged into now? The fact that the House would return him to the exact moment he left did soothe his worries somewhat; the last thing he wanted was to return to his world, battered and bruised, only to discover that five years have gone by without him.
Freaky stuff.
The cold fury in Myrnin's eyes did not go unnoticed by the samurai, yet he did not point it out. Instead he plopped himself next to the campfire with an irritated groan. "I'll do what I usually do best; absolutely nothing." He snorted, "What's it gonna do? Kill me then bring me back to life because I didn't participate?" I can handle that.
Still the mention of "unspoken consequences" made him raise a brow. "Mind telling me what those are?"

Myrnin, unaware there seemed to be a mild misunderstanding found himself languidly smiling along without much more thought in his brain to explaining. It wasn't his expertise anyway. He did raise his own eyebrows and settle himself down again. "Consequences ... true. Do you have any resistance to pain? More along the lines of this place has no promise to be safe. Nowhere really does. The living room is ... neutral ground, but here? Anything can happen." He leaned back, waved around a hand, "So ... murder mummies in the trees, ready to steal your teeth? Fully possible. But generally, the risk could just as easily be in the mind. Everyone finding out your dark secrets. Or you suddenly find your worst fears paraded before. The latter is sadly very usual. It seems to like that one." He was frowning at the fire and talking very quietly now. "This place not only can make anything happen here, it also knows what you're thinking and every detail about you. And it doesn't care about your morals, your sensibilities, or your feelings." He let that hang for a second. Then clapped his hands. "But also there's just good ol' curiosity! Want to go exploring?"

Everyone finding out your dark secrets.
Gintoki sucked in his breath. His thumb brushed against the smooth wood of his bokuto as he thought about what Myrnin had said. Who would have imagined such an innocent-looking and peaceful forest would be a hellhole in disguise? Certainly not him. He'd definitely take the murder mummies over anything psychological any day of the week though.
"Sounds like whoever runs this place must be a real sadist. Might have to recommend them a certain establishment or two." Like always, he tried to hide and mitigate his discomfort through ill-timed jokes.
"Exploring? No thanks." Stretching his arms, Gintoki yawned and sprawled on the grass. "Gin-san may be young at heart, but he still needs breaks from time to time. Plus I usually take naps after eating such a delicious parfait."

"Tsk," Myrnin said. He didn't seem inclined to listen to that. But he still waited. Gintoki being quiet might mean that the music might come back. And he was kind of curious what he might think of that. So he just stayed seated with a strange and disconcerting smile on his face and waited. It didn't take as long as he expected it to take. In fact, he was surprised when almost as soon as there was a moment of quiet, the distant, unpeaceable sound of music arose. There was still no clear direction of it and Myrnin found himself tilting his head to try and catch it. But also keeping an eye on Gintoki because honestly the reaction might be very funny. An eyebrow arch. As if anyone could think they could just wait out the House. No, no, it was far more productive to come up with a plan of attack before it attacked you.

Gintoki made himself comfortable on the grass, even tucking an arm underneath his head as a makeshift pillow. All he needed to do know was close his eyes and count sheep (actually, maybe he'll count pachinko balls this time), and he would be whisked off to dreamland in a matter of seconds.
One pachinko ball...two pachinko balls...three pachinko balls...four pa––
The sound of music interrupted his counting. His body stirred a little as he groaned, "Oi, Myrtle. Lower the volume, will ya? Don't you have earbuds or something?"

"I'm not wearing any earbuds," Myrnin said with a hiss. As if that was the actual problem. "Shh." He stood up, head tilting this way and that way. The music wasn't coming closer, per se, but it might be getting louder. "I'm decently sure you get to experience the House whether you want to or not, strange sir," he pointed out to Gintoki. "Maybe prepare a plan of attack might be best." He was almost grinning. ... Okay, he was absolutely grinning. The idea that Gintoki might end up getting a touch taken down a notch wasn't something he'd ever say no to. "So ... bets on what the music is?"

Gintoki cracked an eye open, watching Myrnin trying to figure out the source of the strange music. Admittedly, he had a good point; having some kind of plan would be a good idea, especially in an unfamiliar place...but that brief sense of camaraderie flew out the window when he caught that grin on his lips.
Letting out a sigh, Gintoki sat up. "Listen, Myrrh, have you ever seen any horror movies? The person who goes 'kyaaah, what's that strange sound? Better check it out' are usually the ones to die first." He drawled and scratched the back of his head. "So don't drag me into this. I want to live a long and sugary life, okay?"

"Aww, come on," Myrnin said. He rolled his eyes. "Can't you even begin to think how this place works?" He tapped his foot in increasing annoyance. "Think of it like a puzzle it wants you to solve before it kills you. Or do you have a better idea? I'm literally all ears. Offer me what you got." He eagerly waved his hands in the air, waiting for some sort of solution to crawl out of Gintoki mouth. "I'd also settle for, you know ... actual input. Or I'll go out there and drag whatever it is back. And I'll tell it you're sugary and sweet and much more delicious than me."

"Not really." Gintoki retorted without missing a beat. He narrowed his eyes at Myrnin; why was this guy so dead-set on dragging him into some misadventure? Couldn't he investigate on his own if he was so experienced about the House?
A mocking grin was soon etched on Gintoki's features as he gave the brown haired man a condescending look. "Oho? Don't tell me you're scared to go on your own without Gin-san? Pfft, for someone that was cheerfully telling me about the horrors of this place, you really are a chicken––excuse me?"
The lazy samurai wrinkled his nose at the threat. "Nice try, but that thing would probably eat you first because of how irritating you are."

Myrnin's shoulders slumped. Then he rolled his eyes, stepped forward, and grabbed Gintoki by the arms, lifting him up like a paper doll. Then grinned at him, "Oh please," he said. All fangs. "I can eat fairies for breakfast. Now, you, however, might be more appealing as a meal, so why don't I take you along as the appetizer, yes?" He sounded annoyed more than threatening. He also looked ridiculous. This man was wearing more colors than a Pride Parade. Which took some doing. But he also was holding Gintoki like a rather sad sack of flour, sooooo. "Up to you." And Myrnin dropped him again.

“H-hey!” Gintoki barked, his hand instinctively reaching for Lake Toya the moment Myrnin touched his arms. But before he could swing his weapon at the vampire, he realized his feet were no longer touching the ground. He groaned; great, who would’ve thought that the twink secretly had the strength of a gorilla on steroids? However, his surprise faded when a pair of fangs caught his attention.
Ah. An Amanto.
“Fairies? Pfffft. Get on my level, Myriad. I eat dragons for breakfast. People call me the Dragon Slayer ‘cause of it.” That was a big lie, of course. He just wanted to try and one-up Myrnin by establishing his dominance.
Scrunching up his nose, Gintoki snorted. “‘Appealing’? Are you trying to tell me something, Mason? Is this how you flirt with people? Calling them appetizers? I’m flattered, really, but Gin-san only has eyes for a hot weather reporter named Ketsu—yeowch!”
A rather pathetic and pained yelp left his lips when Myrnin dropped him. “Fine, fine! I’ll tag along! Sheesh, you’re so clingy…” Grumbling, he stood up, still rubbing his injured bum.

The small, blond form of the child appeared perched on the couch, his hair clinging to the side of his face. It looked messy and his head was bowed. He was looking over a book, his eyes scanning over the pages. It was only when he noticed the change in location that he looked up, eyes widening. What? It had been nearly a year since he'd been here. This didn't feel right. He blinked and slowly set aside the book, his breath catching in his throat. Wow! "Hello?" he asked the empty room.

Elliot | Living Room | mintedstar/fur🦇A tall blonde man appeared in the room, mid air with his body facing downwards. As he manifested into the room, he immediately hit the ground with a large thump. Now on the ground, he moved slowly with his head twitching against the ground. Slowly he tilted his head forward, revealing his turquoise eyes. He shifted an arm forward to lift his upper body from the ground. "D-Did I fall off?" He softly whispered while twitching his eyes from the throbbing pain from his fall. He looked off to his side to see walls instead of trees, and the ground below him was solid not dirt. "Oh dear.." He shook his head, shifting his body once more to sit up. Now fully awake he spotted a child with messy hair. "Oh dear.." He softly repeated then proceeded to wave at the kid with awkward silence.

It'd be a bit like saying you hunt wolves when these are ferrets. Different idea." He scrunched his own nose. "Flirting? Huuuuum." He looked Gintoki up and down. "No? Why? Do I interest you?" Whoosh. Completely over his head. Including anything about the weather reporter. He just looked increasingly happy and nodded along, bounding out into the woods as he did. "Awesome!" he said. "Come on Ginny! We have a quest! A grand ferret to hunt! Or die horribly trying!" He seemed way too excited by that. But there was also a look in his eyes as he looked back at Gintoki now and again, with a sense he could and would come back to drag him along.

Adrian | Living Room | Auransky"Deer actually wouldn't be capable of supporting you," the kid said, knowledgably. "If you wanted to ride one, I mean. Their backs would break." He wasn't trying to make a joke. He just looked awkward. Awkwardly sharing a little fact which, apparently, had only a little to do with the encounter. Adrian was assuming this man had been on a horse when he blinked in. That was the only explanation he had. "Are you okay?" he tried instead after a while. "You're saying 'oh dear' a lot. I'm assuming you're not okay." Or maybe it was the blinking in thing.

Elliot | Living Room | mintedstar/fur🦇Elliot blinked some more at the child's remark with confusion across his face. "Deer?" He used this opportunity to stand up now, and straightened his attire. "Oh no..." He shook his head. "I was not on any deer there was maybe a couple pacing through the forest but not any that had crossed my path." He softly spoke while he attempted to recollect his thoughts. "I was returning to my homeland from a lengthy campaign." He crossed his arms and tilted his head up in thought. "I may have fallen asleep.." He softly admitted at the thought. "Yet I only had a few more kilometers of travel before I planned to rest for the night." He looked down then looked towards his side, "I just hope she is okay..." He bit his lower lip in concern.

Adrian | Living Room | AuranskyAdrian adjusted his posture and wondered if he would have to explain the House to Elliot. Eventually he just said, "This is the House. You just appeared here. Nothing else." He waited a beat, then added, "Have you never been here before?" It was all just a bit over his head, since he wasn't sure how to read Elliot yet. So he just waited for there to be more information from him before he tried anything else. "You blinked in. So I guess you aren't too shocked yet?"

Elliot | Living Room | mintedstar/fur🦇 Elliot's attention fully turned to Adrian. "This is the house..." He trailed off then looked down again before returning his attention to the young man. "So I'm not dead, that certainly brings some relief to my worries." He looked off to the side of the room before looking back down then back at Adrian. "I have been summoned to the house a few times in the past yes, but living in a war torn country it becomes often difficult to tell where the line between the house and death lie." He started tapping his feet against the ground. "Sometimes I wonder if this is worse then death. Being summoned here in the blink of an eye, it can be during a time of peace and all the same during a raging moment of life and death." He took in a deep breath to slightly let down his intensity but still the damage from war had driven its course. "Say you child, is it wartime where you are from, is there a shed of hope still lingering in some place or time?"

Adrian | Living Room | Auransky"That's dark," Adrian admitted, looking slightly concerned. "I doubt you're dead." He tapped his fingers together. "What's the war?" His voice sounded sympathetic. It sounded tough. "Are you going to be okay?" He meant more of okay in this moment, but from the sound of it, Elliot was having an all around tough time. "Uh." He wasn't sure what to say about war. Not exactly. But it felt like it. It just wasn't a word said out loud. Nor with what the war was with. "No ... sure," he admitted. "Surely there wasn't always war though, right?"

Elliot | Living Room | mintedstar/fur🦇Elliot leaned back a little at the other lad's response. "R-Right... I apologize for dimming the conversation." He respectfully dipped his head forward at the thought. It was important to remember that not everyone was in war, in fact maybe everyone wasn't in war. Maybe.. "The war..." He now stepped in a different direction and began to pace around the room to think about the question. "We have been in war for so long that I find it difficult to pinpoint." He shrugged before taking in the next question. "Just knowing I wake up to see the rays of dawn is enough to know that I will be okay." he considered yet the answer felt distasteful to him. He felt like it was unfulfilling but for the time being that was all he could consider. He stopped pacing the room then returned his attention to Adrian, "Well.. maybe there was a time without war but since I was young I had always been told we have been under the siege of war." He couldn't help but brush his hands as though clearing off the dirt on his hands, a habit despite his hands being clean and not wearing his gloves. "Maybe someday the war will end but until then one can only hope, right?"

Adrian | Living Room | Auransky"How old are you?" Adrian asked. It seemed like the most obvious question to ask first. He didn't know how to place Elliot in time otherwise. He certainly couldn't place his clothing, but he was assuming that he was from another world anyway. "What's your name?" He didn't think he'd asked - or at least, he hadn't gotten an answer. "You've been told? Do you fight in the war or ...?" All of this seemed beyond curious, to say the least. "Who is the war with?" He had so many questions.

Elliot | Living Room | mintedstar/fur🦇Elliot stopped when asked about his age. He blinked at the thought then looked down at his feet like any child would when uncertain of an answer. "W-Well..." He crossed his arms and tried to think of a way to answer all of these questions. It was a bombardment of words, something very different from a bombardment of attacks. "My father always told me that we were in a time of IN passing and that someday a day would come when resolution would greet the land. The queen... Queen Marwolaeth, of my homeland would always remind everyone that we live in a time of war and that we stand for all that is well... fair and just." He closed his eyes to think clearly to imagine the words he wanted to express, being in war for so long speaking was but a pleasure in passing. "Growing up in the countryside my father was summoned by Queen Marwolaeth for this war and I was moved with him to the capital. Still while my father called it a time of In passing, Queen Marwolaeth often chirped around the capital reminding us all of the time of war, and how we must all do our part for a better tomorrow." He paused now taking in a deep breath trying not to gag at his own words. There was something about mentioning the queen of his homeland that left a sour distaste in his mouth. "Unfortunately my father was struck in battle and without my father to shield me from the interests of her majesty, I too was thrust into the battlefield." He hugged himself tightly during the last end of his explanation, it was painful to recall which is why the first rule of a solder is to never retell. "I will confess, we been in war for so long that I wonder that question too. Who are we in war with?" He reached out in the air in front of him, and manifested a woven book from thin air. "I too have compiled records breaking the rules which a soldier must never retell but my father always encouraged me to seek the truth." He started turning the pages in the book, approaching Adrian. "Yet while all in theory, this may not answer all your questions. I may be able to answer one." He closed the book and placed it against his chest, then stopped a few steps away from Adrian. He bowed politely to the younger man a common curtesy he had entirely ignored from the start. "My name is Elliot Marwolaeth"
