Mary used Mikel's help to get down onto the ground, brushing off her dress when she felt the solid asphalt under her feet. Pink eyes looked at the boy as she looked back at Val who was still in the dumpster. You should help Valerie too. And I think if we work together we might be able to sneak into a fancy hotel and stay the night. With my mind reading and telepathy I can sometimes fool people. It's like throwing my voice only the voice is inside their head. If we do it right, with your aura reading and whatever Valerie can do, I'm sure we can stay somewhere for at least a night or two. Mary needed a solid eight hours of sleep or more if she wanted to keep going. The people after them would never think to look at a hotel that they wouldn't be able to afford and surely they would be able to last long enough to get to the hotel as well. It was a plan but could they do it? Mary frowned as she thought but she believed they could do it. She wouldn't have to be alone anymore either. It was a new start.

Mikel was busy picking off some of the trash from his shirt, a disgusted expression on his face. He heard Mary in his head and looked over at her, some gum wrappers still being scrapped off his shoulder. "Yeah...that sounds like a good plan. I can scout for people nearby so we don't get caught and...uh." He moved his eyes over to the dumpster. He watched as the girl teleported to where they were and smiled. "Nice powers...uh, sorry to say, but what's your name...? I don't think we caught it before, well, ya know." He reached back and rubbed his neck in embarrassment. Why hadn't they asked for her name before?

Mary watched the two she acquired begin to talk and she wandered around the alley. There was a silence that she was familiar with but now it was accompanied by conversation, something she could never fill the air with. A smile formed on her lips and she walked back over to them and grabbed their hands. Let's go before they find us again. I told you her name is Valerie she can levitate. Sorry I invaded your thoughts I had to see if you were okay. Mary began to pull them in the direction of a fancy hotel, letting go of their hands as they got onto the sidewalk.

"Oh...er, sweet, haha." Mikel could feel his face redden. Of course, he knew her name. Yeah, definitely. He also had a tendency to forget a lot. He felt slight relief when Mary took their hands and started for the buildings. When she let go, his thoughts resurfaced, and he began to locate the different energies on the streets. A mother with two kids, she appeared saddened. A man with a limp, darkness surrounding his form. He was sickly. A young woman, red and yellow laced and swirling in different circles. She was with her boyfriend, a smile on her lips. Mikel sighed. So many people...they had normal lives. Why couldn't he and his new friends have normal lives? Why couldn't people with powers like them have a life too? Besides being hunted and killed? He smiled, the image of his mother handing him freshly baked cookies entering his mind, his father grinning at him as he threw the baseball. He missed them...it had been a good three years, but he still missed them greatly.

Val seemed about to respond, but Mary beat her to it. "Val," she corrected under her breath, but nodded anyway. "We're safe for tonight, right?" Her tone was worried, and rightfully so. She didn't know how to even begin to react to the events of the night, but she was more than grateful that she wasn't alone anymore. "I wish my powers were more useful," she admitted suddenly, aware that both Mary and Mikel seemed to be using theirs at the moment. She didn't usually mind her unusual skill set, but it was hard not to feel a little put out by the fact she couldn't do anything to help. "Oh and uh… thank you both for saving me and not leaving me out there to save yourselves."

(That would be a good power to have you can make a character clairvoyant)
Mary didn't respond to either of them as she entered the hotel and used her abilities to clear a path to the counter. She had to read a few minds to be able to mimic the sound of people's thoughts correctly in order to make them seem like the person was thinking. It was her personal Jedi mind trick. The small blonde looked towards the two accompanying her, telling them, Watch out for anything, I'm going to try to swipe a key card. Hopefully its the kind that don't need to have anything done to them. Mary snuck behind the counter, deeply wishing she had invisibility, and looked for something that would be a key card. She didn't have much time, that she knew, but she wanted to make sure she, they, would have a place to stay for a while. After a few moments of hunting and looking, Mary grabbed a key card and returned to the pair waiting. Let's get to the elevator before someone sees us and wonders what we are doing. After tonight I might do some searching to see if I can find out any information that might be able to get us food. Unless one of you has cash?

Mikel continued to respond to Val as Mary went into the hotel. "Oh, don't sweat it! We have to protect each other. After all, we're all we have, right?" He grinned, sheepishly, "And we'll be safe. Once we get inside the hotel, we'll rest up for the night and tomorrow we'll be back to finding...something." To be honest, Mikel wasn't entirely sure why they were teaming up together, besides the obvious fact of protecting each other from the officials trying to hunt them. What were they going to do now? Once he heard Mary's voice echo in his mind, he grabbed Val's hand and led her towards the elevator, ready to protect her at all costs. He used his energy scan to feel for anyone hazardous nearby, but nothing caught his attention. Once inside the elevator, he turned to Mary. "I may have pickpocketed a few people in the last few days and took some money...I have 20 bucks on me, is that alright?"

(That's okay I'm heading to bed too after this post. Just try to be more active.)
Mary pressed the button to call down the elevator and looked at the key card in her hand. She simply glanced back and nodded at them without any clarification. A woman had walked over to them talking on her phone so she didn't want to talk to the others while someone was around who might wonder why they are responding to nothing. A ping reached her ears and she grabbed the other two to pull them inside and pressed the button for the fourth floor. Mary fidgeted with her jacket's zipper as the woman talked and glanced around wondering if there were cameras in the steel deathtrap. Mary had never been a fan of elevators so being inside of one was making her anxious. If she got trapped inside one alone, she wouldn't be able to get help as she has to see someone to speak to them mentally for the first time and she couldn't speak. Thankfully the elevator got to their floor and she rushed out of the contraption and looked at the key card. At this hotel, each card had a three digit number on the top right corner to show the floor and the room number. We are room 416, she informed them as she began to walk towards a direction.

Mikel leaned against the back of the elevator, his eyes closed as he tried to work on his energy detecting skills. It was hard, but sometimes he could go a bit farther. He was new at it, reaching farther than a small distance, but sometimes he could. If he tried hard enough. He squinted his eyes, trying to focus completely on the task. He could see the woman who entered the elevator with them, her aura of energy bright but flickering. She appeared uneasy. He stretched out his powers a bit. They were moving up slowly, but he could still feel the auras of a few other people that they passed. A man, full of red and black energy. He was getting ready for a date. A woman with...another woman? It appeared they were talking in the hall on the floor they were about to stop at. Their energies were bright yellow and blue and green, happy. He could also detect a child's aura nearby, but that was stilled when he heard the ding of the elevator alerting them that they were on the floor. He opened his eyes and followed Mary and Val out. Once out, he listened to what Mary said. He nodded, looking around the hall that lead to their room. He noticed a couch in the hall where the two woman were having a happy conversation with one another. He breathed out in relief. So, his powers were starting to get better. That was...good.

There was no response from Mary as she looked around for the room. She hadn't checked anything nor did she even know if this would work. After a moment, she found the room the card belonged to and inserted it into the reader. The little lights flashed green and she opened the door, snapping her fingers to get the other's attention. We can talk in here. And I don't know about if the room is soundproof or not we just need to use inside voices. The small blonde removed the card and walked into the room. It looked like a standard two bed room with queen sized beds with closets, a fridge, a TV, and of course a bathroom. She looked into the bathroom and found that there were soaps and shampoos provided meaning all she needed was to get some detergent to wash her clothes. Val and I can take a bed and Mikel can have the other. We can talk after we shower and see if we can get some detergent to clean our clothes.

Val nodded in understanding, stepping into the room after Mary. Though she was reluctant to wait to talk, there was nothing they could do now anyway. A few more minutes wouldn't kill her, and she had become increasingly aware of how much they all stank from being in the dumpster. The room was nicer than almost anywhere Val had been in her life, something she was exceedingly grateful for. "Thank you for the room," she murmured to Mary, peering into the bathroom. "Who takes first shower?" she questioned, looking between the other two. She would be fine to wait until they both were done, and that seemed relatively fitting. "I'm gonna raid the fridge," she said aloud, praying this was the kind of hotel that actually provided food and not just an empty fridge.

Mary cocked her head at Val but said nothing. She sat on the bed closest to the window and began to untie her boots. I can go in first so that after I can begin to figure out how to get what we need to clean our clothes with. Maybe if we play the mute card if needed. Mary kicked off her shoes and removed her grey socks from her feet before laying back on the bed. So soft. So comfy, she announced as she rolled over on the bed before stretching out. Mary pushed herself up and hopped off the bed before heading to the bathroom. I promise not to use all the soap but I have a lot of hair. With that said, she closed the door and locked it so that she could take her shower.

Mikel sat on the other bed, relishing in the softness underneath. He inhaled and laid back, the pillows under him giving away to more feather and cotton. "I like it here..." He murmured, allowed, though he didn't really care if he got a response or not, or if anyone heard. Because, truly, he really did like it there. He'd never really experienced something like that in the past 4 years of running. He'd been behind dumpsters, on trashbags, sleeping on the floors of abandoned homes and hotel rooms. Nothing this clean. And he forbid himself to remember when the last time he'd had a proper shower, besides swimming and cleaning himself in bodies of water. And even after those attempts, he never felt truly clean. He looked over to where he saw Val. "So...what do you think we'll do after this..? I mean, we can probably only stay a night or two. I'm not even sure why we're here...or what we are doing, together. Mary helped me...and then. We just sort of...decided to stick together. Same with you." He shut his eyes, whispering softly, "I just don't know what we plan to do, besides always run together. Which, isn't bad. I've been running alone for a while."

"If we're together we can do something," Val replied, frowning slightly. There wasn't much they really could do, but they had a chance to get away if there were more of them, right? "We could fight," she suggested tentatively, looking up at Mikel. She knew they would most likely die, and that three wasn't nearly enough to take down who knew how many. "Or we could go far away and create a shelter for others like us." Others like them. She'd never stopped to consider she'd ever meet anyone else like her. Now that it had happened - she wasn't going to lie, it felt like home somehow. "And if all we can do is run, it's gotta be better than running alone," she agreed, falling into silent thought for a few moments. "I'm glad you guys found me," she added quietly, aware that she might not have been heard. She didn't mind that, though. She had said it, that was enough.

Mary emerged from the bathroom, the steam following her out as she rubbed her wet hair with a towel. She nodded towards the bathroom signalling for the next person to jump in. She had found a robe in the bathroom along with four others, and that's what she was wearing as she sat down. Do you think the people who stayed here previously left any clothes? We could also sneak around and take some from empty rooms. She felt bad about stealing but they weren't in a position to ignore the opportunity. She only had the one set of clothing and she wanted to wash it. To go out though she needed to have clean clothing. We have fifty dollars all together so we should figure out what to spend it on. If anyone here can shoplift that would be nice too.

(I'M FINALLY DONE!!)
Cassie Reynolds | 21 | Female
Cassie stands at 5'3" and she has medium-length, wavy, navy blue hair that is naturally dark brown. She usually ties it into a high ponytail, and she doesn't have bangs. Her hair is also moderately thick, but not so thick that it's unmanageable when she wears her hair down. She has gray-blue eyes that tend to pull more blue than gray. She isn't very tan because she doesn't get outside a lot, and her muscles are very toned because she is athletic. Her ears are double pierced, and she wears two pairs of stud earrings. She is fit and can easily defend herself, but most people fail to realize this because she is so short. She often wears minimal makeup because she doesn't usually have time to do dramatic looks, but she has been known to do a few.
Cassie has a strong sense of justice, and as a result, she sees situations as black or white, or right and wrong. She doesn't see that there often is a gray area. She tries to do the right thing all the time, but sometimes that's difficult for her to do when other people are involved. She doesn't feel that she should drag them into her issues because she doesn't think that's fair to them. She deeply cares for them and is always there to comfort them. She is also extremely loyal to them, and sometimes she fails to see their faults. However, it is difficult for her to forgive people who have done terrible things to her because she gets caught between what they did to her previously and what they're doing to earn her forgiveness. She is a tough girl and doesn't like to show emotions that she associates with weakness, such as crying. Cassie views people as good or bad, not in-between. As a result, she can’t see that good people make bad decisions. She also believes that showing negative emotions, such as crying, are signs of weakness. If someone beats her in a fight, she obsesses over it until she can create a scenario in which she would win.
