This is a 1x1 for Ree and I, please don't post but feel free to read along!
Name: Yurei Suzuki Age: 23 Gender: Male Appearance: He stands at a decent height of 5'11" and has a muscled build βcause the dudeβs got some beef on him. He has a ghostly pale complexion that never seems to darken, and is a little unsettling how pale he is, he's almost ghost like in appearance it seems. His hair is white like freshly fallen snow with a single streak of blue towards the front, right area of his hair and itβs about chin length and seems to always have a messy look to it. He has unnaturally blue eyes that seem to almost faintly glow with how bright they are, and in the dark of the night they really will glow, however his left one is always closed because he canβt really open it anymore. Like the rest of his face itβs scarred and burned and he canβt ever seem to open it, so his only good eye is his right one. He is never seen without his white mask that has nothing on it except the two dark eyeholes. It covers his entire face, almost as if it was his face, and not just a simple mask. It's used to hide his burned, scarred and mauled face, and the scars travel a bit past his mask down his neck a little. Heβs come to terms with the fact that thatβs how he looks and while heβs not entirely comfortable removing it around strangers he has no issues in giving people sneak peaks here and there and when heβs around people heβs comfortable with he might just take the mask off all the way. All of his face, save for an area around his eyes, are scarred and burned, having been cut up it seems by a simple dagger like blade. He won't tell just anyone the story behind them, you'd really have to earn his trust if you want to know where they came from. There are constantly small wisps of blue fire following him around and they never seem to disappear, although they do seem to have a mind of their own, often embarrassing him around someone he likes and trying to aid in his romantic relationships since his idea of telling someone he cares is by saying they're stupid and he hates them. They also tend to form themselves into shapes at times, and while some people might talk in their sleep Yureiβs wisps will start forming shapes and acting out his dreams while he sleeps Personality: Yurei can be a bit of a grump when heβs interacting with others, even ones he loves because thatβs just who he is. For the longest time he believed that all people were bad and had anterior motives for things and that everyone was just selfish and out for only their personal gain. It took a bit for him to finally realize that thatβs not true, and that everyone deserves a second chance. If he doesnβt like you, because of his nature and what he is, he will do everything in his power to lead you astray and get you lost because thatβs just a small little way he can get back at you for something you did to him. The young man tends to act out sometimes and has attitude for days, but itβs the only way he knows how to get attention because he grew up in an orphanage where attention was pretty scarce. He can have quite the quick temper and a foul mouth to go with it. He despises being put under any kind of pressure, and will become one of the most stubborn people you've ever come across if it happens. He can be silent at times and have quite the intimidating presence because of his lack of a "face" and ghost like silence. However, Yurei is not a bad person. Sure he can be arrogant, cocky, and pretty confident in who he is, but he can have a soft and tender spot for things. Once he realizes that someone isn't all that bad, he wants to impress them, and he wants them to see that he's not a screw up. He can be a little tough to get along with at first because itβs hard to get him to open up, but once you get in he can be a fun loving guy who enjoys being around others that make him comfortable. The guyβs been in a couple fights here and there, and has probably hit a person or two with a bat.
Yurei looked bored out of his mind as he rang customers up and fixed their coffees and the like, letting out a sigh. The hybrid certainly wasn't in a good mood, not that he was ever in a good mood if he was going to be perfectly honest. He was always grumpy, and why he worked at a place where customer service was kind of a big deal was beyond him. It was just customer after customer after customer it seemed like, until he came across one in particular that seemed to catch his eye. And how would you know they caught his eye? Well, Yurei, while he might have been grumpy while on the job, took pride in getting things right. Always right. So when this particular customer came up and ordered and paid for their coffee, Yurei took it upon himself to mess it up. Because hey, instead of just talking to them like a normal human being and what have you, messing up something they paid for was obviously the best route to go! And so he got it totally and completely wrong. If this customer was like any other than he would obviously turn right back around and complain and then Yurei would be able to talk to him some more! It was a flawless plan in his mind and he was a little excited to see if it would actually work. The little wisps that usually floated around him seemed to dance around his head a bit as if they were feeding off of his excitement. "Here you go," he muttered, trying not to give away how interested in this person he was. Handing them the cup, he forced himself to go back to doing other things to keep him busy, like cleaning the counter and straightening things. He was pretty sure his heart was beating against his rib cage, because what if this plan failed? Then he'd either never see the guy again, or the guy would avoid him every time he came in here. It would be the exact opposite of what Yurei wanted. No, he wanted this guy to talk to him some more, why? Well that wasn't anyone's business but his own!

Jude Waltz ~ 23 ~ male
Jude is of rather average height and build, yet he seems a lot smaller than can be explained by size alone. His presence is a very mild one, and with his meek body language and relaxed posture, he never really takes up more physical space than his size demands. That isn't to say he takes up less, he very rarely makes himself appear smaller, it's just that he doesn't make any attempts to extend himself further. He's pale, although his shoulders are covered in freckles, but his skin isn't the soft complexion of someone who can afford to take care. His hands are calloused and rough, as is the rest of him to some extent. Really, only his face remains smooth. His hair is dark brown with a slight reddish tint to it and is long enough to brush his jawline - just long enough to be tied back, which is how he wears it almost always. His eyes are lighter in colour, landing somewhere between green and hazel. Like the rest of his features, they're round although not exactly soft.
If there was one word his peers would use to describe Jude, it would be reliable. A firm believer in deadlines, Jude always gets the job done. He takes responsibility where it needs to be taken and is even an adept leader. He's friendly enough, he's not afraid to talk, but he's nothing if not introverted. He'll usually wait for someone else to initiate a conversation, and on the rare occasion that he's the one to start it, he's very careful with his words. He's private, too, and doesn't really like to talk about himself or his life. This makes his a good listener, but it means that most relationships he gets into, regardless of their nature, drain him quickly. He tends to take criticism incredibly personally; he'll even see it where there's none to find. This affects him a little too much and he's prone to underestimating himself, but also other people.
Although he's a sylph, an air spirit, there's very little identifying him as such. Air seems to ripple around him at times, especially when he's under emotional stress, and then there are the markings on his back where wings might sit if he had any, but other than that it can mostly pass unnoticed.
-- This wasn't Jude's usual coffee-shop. Usually, he'd go to the one on the other end of the block, but they were opening late today. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to make it through the day without the usual dose of caffeine, he'd settled on this one. He'd made his order without thinking too much about it, ordering coffee was the same no matter where you went, giving the man behind the counter a small, grateful smile as he rang him up. Then, as expected, he gave no further thoughts to his coffee. He was too tired to give much thought to anything, truth be told. Without caffeine in his veins, he was pretty much useless. So when he went to collect his coffee, giving only a thank you to the guy who'd handed it to him, only to find that it was nothing like what he'd asked for, he might have put it up to his own sluggishness. Only he knew his coffee order. It was the one thing you could poke him awake it the middle of the night and ask for and, without fail, get the right answer. So, after drawing a deep breath, he walked up to the counter again, setting his cup down. "Excuse me," he said, sounding genuinely apologetic. "But I think you've given me the wrong order." That was the only logical explanation. After all, how did someone get an order this wrong? It wasn't just one thing that was off about it, that he'd have gotten over for the sake of drinking his coffee, it was the whole thing. Surely he'd mixed two orders up.

He was walking away, oh he was walking away and Yurei was sure his plan had failed to get this guy to talk to him again. A sigh escaped, sounding kind of quiet and muffled behind his mask and he turned his back towards the counter since he had no customers to take care of. Straightening up his apron he had to wear as part of their uniform, he was getting ready to start doing some more small tasks to occupy himself until he heard a voice and the sound of a cup touching the counter. Looking over his shoulder, unamused expression hidden, he couldn't help but smirk to himself once he realized who it was. Walking up, he leaned down, placing his elbow on the counter and his chin in his palm, looking at the other through the eyeholes in his mask. "I know," he hummed out, sounding quiet smug with himself,"I'm very, very well aware," he added. His voice gave it all away, how proud he was of himself that his little plan had worked, how smug he felt that this gentleman was once again talking to him, and well, because he could be a proud and smug little jerk. Yurei simply repeated back Jude's order perfectly, standing up and straightening up a bit,"so, I'm guessing you want me to fix it?" he reached for the cup to take it back and remake the man's order correctly this time. "I honestly just wanted you talk to me again, and well, this was the best way I could come up with to get you to do just that," he explained.

Wait, what? Jude frowned, confused. He'd known the order was wrong but given it out anyway? Why... Oh. He certainly hadn't expected that. Most people would have just slipped him their number or even asked for his, this was an entirely different approach. He wasn't sure whether he appreciated it or not. It didn't cost him anything but time, and he had plenty of that in the mornings, he made sure of it but still. And the guy was so obviously smug about it, which only served to further confuse him. "Oh? Right, the coffee. Yeah, if you could." He snapped back to reality to watch his coffee being prepared. "I mean, it worked," he said a moment later, still sounding a little taken aback. "But really? The best way?" Jude did see the positives in the plan. He couldn't leave the shop until his coffee was ready and he might as well wait at the counter which meant more time than he'd have gotten the first time around. And being this upfront about it could only really bring positives with it too. It just seemed a little extreme to him. Unexpected. Maybe that was the point. And there were so many things that could go wrong, what if he hadn't cared enough to ask for some new coffee or had just become angry and upset rather than calmly approach?

Yurei wasn't the brightest bulb in the box when it came to most things, especially when it involved interacting with other people. So slipping him a phone number was not something he would have come up with on his own, and since he was the only one working at the time, there was no way he'd been able to get help or advice. Not that he would have asked anyways because obviously he didn't need anyone's advice. With a nod he worked on getting the order right this time, being careful this time to make sure he made the most perfect cup of coffee he possibly could to not only make up for really screwing up the guy's order, but also because why not? The guy actually had come back and they were talking and that was really all Yurei wanted. "I couldn't come up with anything else okay," he snapped, scowling behind his mask,"all that matters is that worked and that's all I care about. I've never seen you in here before, and so there was no guarantee that I'd ever see you again after you walked out that door. So I had to think fast," he explained, putting a lid on the cup and walking back over to the counter. "I'm just really glad you realized it was wrong and came back because I was starting to worry that you wouldn't," he admitted, shrugging a bit as he set the cup down in front of him. "So uh, what's your name?" he could do this, he could totally have a normal conversation with this guy now. Hopefully, you never knew with his grumpy self.

"Okay, okay. It was the best idea you could come up with," Jude said hurriedly, raising a hand as if to proclaim his innocence. Luckily enough, the other seemed to go from snapping at him to explaining himself quickly, so he let his hand fall to his side again. With nothing but eyes and voice to go off of, it was difficult to tell just what he was thinking or feeling which in turn made it difficult for Jude to know how to respond. But the cup was placed in front of him and he picked it up, wasting no time in taking a sip and that was forgotten. "Perfect," he murmured to himself, sighing as he took the cup between both hands. He considered saying thank you and leaving, he probably should have, but he knew that if this had been a more conventional approach to chatting, he would have stayed a little longer so he decided to give the other man the benefit of the doubt. He would stay for some conversation, be as nice as he could and reevaluate after that, as he always did. "Oh, Jude," he said, breaking into a friendly smile, drawing another sip from his cup. "What's yours?"

A frown formed on his lips when Jude raised his hands and Yurei knew he had to reign himself in and not snap anymore because he really didn't want to mess this up. "I would hope so," he murmured, messing with his apron a bit. The little wisps around his head danced happily, flickering in and out as they moved about. He was just thankful that for now they were behaving themselves, at least for now they were and that was always a huge relief. "Jude huh?" he nodded a bit before blinking a bit at the friendly smile and then the question. Wow, this was a lot easier than he thought it would be that was for sure. "Uh, name's Yurei," he answered, and he would have smiled back, but what was the point when the other couldn't even see it? "How come I've never seen you come in here huh?" he asked curiously, because hey there was some good freaking coffee served here so why wouldn't Jude come here?

"Yurei," Jude echoed, nodding. Usually, he'd have tried to determine whether the name suited its owner but without a face to place it to, he couldn't. Instead, he simply repeated the name silently to himself in order to commit it to memory, nodding again. He took another sip of his coffee, looking down to his cup for a moment as Yurei started to ask another question. "Usually I go to the one on the other end of the block," he said, gesturing vaguely. "It's not quite as far. They're closed to renovate this week which is why I'm here. This coffee is good though, maybe I should have come here earlier." For someone who enjoyed coffee so much, he didn't really explore the nearby coffeeshops much. He wanted to take the shorter route, especially in the mornings when he generally didn't think detours were worth it. Maybe this week, they would be.

"Yeah," he nodded, watching him carefully because he really didn't want him to leave. "Yeah you should have!" He insisted asamantly,"this coffee has to be so much better than that coffee. And if not, well....I'll make it better than that stupid place. Because if this coffee is better than you'll obviously keep coming back right?" It was another flawless plan of his, if he worked harder to make that coffee taste super good than Jude would have to keep coming back and he'd have to talk to him even more! "So you should just not go back to that coffee shop like ever because I'll make you coffee now," he told him, a hint of eagerness in his usual grumpy voice. See Jude was cute and Yurei being Yurei, he wanted to tale every opportunity to see him. And considering he'd never seen him before, that he could recall, this would be his only chance. "Besides, I'm here, not there, so just come here from now on."

The adamant, enthusiastic way Yurei made his case was another thing Jude hadn't seen coming. He was taken aback, yet it was endearing in a way. The shock and endearment together was enough to cause a light laugh to come from Jude's side of the counter. It lacked anything that might make it malicious, although it did nothing to hide his shock. The ripple in the air didn't, either, though it died down as Jude started to speak again. "Your coffee is perfect," he said, finishing what was left of it as if to prove a point. "But how's about this for a deal? I come in here every morning for the rest of the week and as long as you're not overrun with customers, I'll hang around here while I drink it. We can chat, you can make me the wrong order again to force me to stick around for an extra five minutes. Then, maybe, at some point you could just ask for my number. I do have one of those, you know." This seemed like a good idea to him, for some reason. He wasn't likely to give up his routine , he loved it dearly and held on to it a little too tightly, and especially not for someone he'd just met, but while it was disrupted anyway, he might as well make the most of it. Besides, his morning was looking brighter already. He wouldn't complain if that happened for the rest of the week, too.

That's insane man There we go, lil changes made to his form and Yurei got some beef now, threw out his lil twiggy self)
"Huh? What's so funny?" he questioned, frowning a bit behind his mask as he watched him. It didn't sound like an aggressive or malicious laugh, not in the slightest bit so Yurei wasn't upset that he was laughing, he just wanted to know what in the world was so funny that was going to cause this guy to chuckle the way he was. "Damn right it's perfect," he gave a confident nod, crossing his arms over his chest,"why wouldn't it be? I'm the one that made it," he added. Listening carefully when he was told that the other had a deal for him, Yurei made humming noise to himself, one hand on his hip while the other rubbed his chin a bit. "You got yourself a deal," he smirked, holding his hand out for the other to shake because then it would obviously be more official. "Eh, yeah but asking for your number just seems way too easy," he mused, smirking a bit under his mask. Oh this was gonna be great, and while he planned on getting Jude's order wrong just so he had an excuse to stay, he also planned on making him the best cups of coffee he'd ever had when he fixed it for him.

( what can I say, I don't take care of myself like I should looks good! )
The question didn't seem aggressive or even defensive, but Jude couldn't help the light blush that crept onto his face nonetheless. "You just startled me, I guess," he explained, giving a slight shrug. He looked down at his hands for a moment, although he cracked a small smile at Yurei's confidence. He extended his hand and Jude looked up, nodding. He took the outstretched hand and shook it firmly. It made the whole thing a little more official, he realised as he dropped his hand to his side again, but he was pretty sure he didn't mind that. He picked his cup back up, drumming his fingers against it as he considered what Yurei had to say next. "Then convince me to come back instead," he said, accepting what he had to say. "With that settled," he said, straightening himself up a little. "I think I should get going. I have a job to go to." He gave another warm smile, then, as a final farewell, added, "I'll see you tomorrow?"

(I feel ya on that man Thank you!)
Palms on the counter, he lean dover a bit when he saw the faintest hint of a blush starting to peek through the other's face and he smirked to himself as he studied him with his one guid eye. "Oh? I'm sorry, didn't mean to startle you or anything," he mused, falling back down and crossing his arms over his chest after they shook on it. "I don't what all I gotta do to convince you to come back. There are two great things you can get here, my coffee and me," he told him teasingly, counting off on his fingers, his tone light hearted. "A working man eh?" he teased,"yeah you should. Should I expect you around the same time then? Or earlier now that you know where we're at?" This was honestly kind of exciting, having someone who would come out just to see him. He couldn't mess this up that was for sure, he'd have to play his cards right and make sure his coffee game was on point the rest of the week when Jude stopped by.

"Both of those sound like a great start," Jude said in the same lighthearted tone despite the flush that still painted his cheeks red. "But if just getting my number is too easy, I'll let you figure the rest out on your own. I can't go giving out hints if you don't want to take the easy road." He said this because he meant it, but also because he wasn't entirely sure what it would take to convince him herself. He paused, letting Yurei speak, then said, "I'll be here at the same time tomorrow, I think." It was weird, he thought, making plans like these. They weren't exactly the plans he'd been expecting to make today. He certainly wouldn't have made them in any other situation. Yet, for some reason, it felt right in this case. And if the short conversation they'd had this morning was anything to go by, he'd enjoy it.

"I'd hope they sounded like a good start," he mused with a chuckle, nodding a bit as he thought it over. "Alright, no hints then. I'm not gonna need em," he declared confidently, hands on his hips and a confident grin on his hidden face. "Same time? I'll be here," he informed him happily, straightening his apron out a little. "Now, you go have a good day huh? I'm sure you will after drinking my coffee," he teased, making finger guns at him before he turned to a customer that had come up to place an order.
(Shall we time skip then?)

( time skip sounds good to me. )
Jude grinned, calling out a farewell as he turned to walk away. He made sure to murmur a quick apology to the customer that had arrived at some point during their conversation, hoping he hadn't kept them waiting for long. He didn't look back even when the door fell closed again, but he wore a knowing smile for the better part of the day.
As promised, Jude came back to the coffee shop the next morning. Punctual as ever, he arrived within only minutes of the time he'd gotten there the day before. The shop was far from crowded, though there were a few more people than there had been the previous day. Jude moved to stand in the short line, casting Yurei a quick glance as he did. Being here for a reason other than the coffee itself was still strange. He wasn't sure how long it would take for him to get used to it. Less than a week, he hoped.

(I didn't realize you had replied, so I've been sitting here like "did they abandon me?" I am so sorry)
Yurei really could have cared less about how long the next customer had been waiting, and should they complain he had no issues in telling him about how much he really didn't care. The next day he was busy taking orders, a coworker making them as they came in. He happened to look up in enough time to see Jude cast him a glance, causing him to smirk under his mask, letting out an amused chuckle. He turned to his coworker, nodding towards Jude and it was a wonder what Yurei told the guy because his poor coworker looked extremely concerned by the time Yurei had turn back to the next customer. It didn't take long for the line to trickle down and soon he was face to face with Jude once more. "Well good morning, I see you kept your word on coming back," he teased with a snicker.

( it's fine, I've had the same thing happen to me more than once. )
The line moved forward slowly, and Jude followed it. He didn't look up from his phone again, but he slipped it away as soon as he reached the counter and he heard Yurei speak. Jude shrugged, though he gave a small smile. "Did you doubt it?" It had been obvious to him from the moment he'd said he'd come back that he would, but he reminded himself that Yurei didn't know him. Not yet, anyway. "I'm a man of my word." He looked over the other side of the counter under the pretence of scanning the menu. There was a second, concerned man working here today - why he looked so worried, Jude didn't know - but otherwise, everything about this place was pretty much the exact same as yesterday. He wasn't sure if he'd expected something else.

"Don't get upset of anything but yeah, I did," he admitted with a shrug,"can't really ever trust a whole lot of people nowadays," he sighed. "I see this," he mused with a snicker,"so, man of your word? What's it gonna be today?" He caught him glancing towards his coworker and he looked back at the poor guy, who probably really hated working on Yurei's shifts, and then back at Jude. "Don't mind him, we just needed to uh, have a little talk," he reassured him with a mischievous grin behind his mask.

Jude just shrugged again. "I don't blame you. You don't know me yet." He glanced at the concerned looking guy again, frowning for a short moment. "A little talk. Right," he murmured, to himself more than anything. He shook his head to clear it, clapped his hands together and rambled off his order - the same as the day before and every day before that for the last several years. Clearly, the odd way Yurei's coworker was acting didn't bother him that much or maybe it just didn't occur to him that it could. Either way, he ignored the man from then on, either satisfied with his answer or not caring enough to get another. He wasn't even sure himself which one it was.

"Yet being a major key word there," he mused before raising a brow,"it was a little talk, maybe it involved a little bit of a threat but nothing too major you know?" He took his order, rang him up and then cashed him out before he befan working on it. He had threatened his coworker, telling him that if he even thought about making Jude's order he'd break his kneecaps later. The young man made sure that he made the order as perfectly as he could before heading back over and presenting it to the man. "There you go," he mused,"and no worries, I made it right this time," he reassured him.

"Oh of course. A minor threat," Jude agreed, albeit slowly. He wasn't sure if he wanted to know what they'd spoken about or if he'd rather just ignore it. He did know that he didn't want to ask, he didn't want to figure out the right way to say what he needed to say and besides, his coffee was here now. He accepted it, grateful both for the coffee and the distraction it provided. He did a quick check, unsure if he could take Yurei's word for it. Finding the coffee to be exactly what he'd asked for he nodded and gave a small smile. "Thanks," he said, moving a little to the side so that he wasn't in the way for anyone trying to move past him. A quick sip later and his careful smile was replaced by a pleased one. "Great coffee," he commented into the cup as he took another sip from it.

"You're quite welcome," he mused, clearly entertained that the other had to check it before he took a sip. "Wow, don't trust me? I'm a man of my word, if I say I'm going to make you a perfect cup of coffee, I intend to make you a perfect cup of coffee." He took the next customer's order real quick, leaving his coworker to make them their coffee while he moved off to the side to talk to Jude. "Thanks, I try," he chuckled, leaning over the counter a bit, arms resting on it,"so what do you do for a living huh?" he questioned curiously, tilting his head a bit while the little blue wisps danced around his head.

"You're the one who gave me the complete opposite of what I asked for yesterday," Jude responded lightly. "But I'll bear that in mind, man of your word," he added, echoing Yurei's earlier words. He took another long sip of his coffee, sighing contently as he did. "Oh, I work in customer service at this tech company. I hate it," he said, entirely serious. "But it pays the bills while I study, so I can't complain. I'd ask what you do, but..." he trailed off, looking around the coffee shop pointedly, a small smile once again present on his lips.

(Sorry, life's been hitting me hard lately and it seems I've finally caught a break)
"Yeah but still, that was yesterday and today is today and I promised I would give you a perfect drink," he pointed out nonchalantly,"so you should just trust me these next times I make your coffee for you okay. It's not gonna get messed up, trust me. I rarely mess up a drink. I only mess it up if I don't like you or you get on my nerves, or in your case when I want you to come back so you'll talk to me more." He lifted his mask up ever so slightly to reveal bits of his burned and scarred skin, but most importantly so he could reveal his confident little smirk he had, tongue sticking slightly out and to the right. "Why don't you look for another job then eh? I'm sure you could totally find something else that pays the same right? Study? What do you study for?" A chuckle erupted and he offered him a playful grin,"oh this? This is just a cover, I actually run like a whole underground black market," he stated, his tone making it obvious that he was joking.

( don't worry about it, I completely understand. prioritise what you need to prioritise and I'll be here when you have time. )
Jude could feel his smile freeze, from shock more than anything, but he quickly fixed it. Yurei didn't want to talk about it, clearly, seeing as he was wearing a mask to hide the scars that covered what little he'd seen of his face. He'd respect that, despite how quickly the shock was being replaced by an insatiable curiosity. "Oh, sorry," he said, choosing to pursue the most light-hearted of their conversations. "I shouldn't dismiss the possibility." He put his coffee cup to his mouth again, using it as an excuse to figure out how straight-forward he should be when he answered. "I could, probably," he said, slowly. "But that would mean I have to look, and with my level of education more or less any job I work would be exhausting anyway. So I just don't bother. I don't have to stay for very long, anyway." He shrugged and that was that. "Oh, architecture." He looked proud, almost, and definitely pleased that he'd been asked. "I'm in my last year of school now, but then I have to intern for two years so I'm only like halfway done, really."
