KELLEY HALL
- - -
The Commons is the most updated of Somerset North Residential Life, with eight buildings that are located in a quad with each named after a significant donor to the improvement of the buildings. Here we find Kelley Hall, a faded located between Pithers and Fiala on the farthest edge of the Commons.
Kelley Hall, like the others, was once traditional housing remodeled to fit less students, but with significant higher cost of living. Kelley Hall features four floors, but three are equipped for residential living. All floors have tables and couches for students to sit on in the common area. The first floor and conference rooms have televisions that can be watched, fully equipped with cable. At the end of each elongated hallway is a fire escape with stairway.
Resident rooms are furnished with couches, tables, shelves, and cupboards. Students are encouraged to work with their roommates to bring a microwave, mini-fridge, dishes, and television to make their living experience more luxurious and home-like. Each student is equipped with their own bathroom for their individual rooms.
Each floor has a monitor, or Resident Assistant, that keeps account for students on the floor. Their room is also furnished with couches, tables, shelves, and a kitchenette. However, RA’s are given free housing for the duration of their work-study. Behind the desk is where RA’s usually work and have conferences with each other and problematic residents. Each RA has a bare-minimum office with standard desk and chair.
On the first floor of each building is a fully equipped kitchen with minimum cooking supplies left over from previous school years. The fridge is sometimes stocked and food is once and awhile left in it. Students are expected to keep the kitchen clean, washing any utensils and dishes used before returning them to their designated place. Alongside that, the laundry room with four working washers and four dryers, also is on the first floor and is expected to also be kept tidy.
Any trash in student rooms should be taken out to the dumpster located on the far end of the Commons.

SOMERSET
- - -
Somerset, Connecticut The town of Somerset was built on the hillsides of Connecticut located nearest to the largest city in the state, but far enough away from the constant lights and heavy bustle of the city. Somerset is truly a classic marvel. Its grace is matched by the backdrop of majestic woodlands, which has kept the rural vibe of Somerset to this day.
American history has left its mark on Somerset, not just the people but also the town’s identity. What historically was a city of no importance has grown into a large melting pot with the inclusion of Somerset North University students and the consistent growth of the town. It is this that unites the thousands of people to this day.
The town itself looks rural. With its brick buildings with mahogany accents. The economy is prospering, mainly supported by the small businesses and few larger-nation-wide corporations that make home in Somerset. But the biggest strength is the constant stream of prospering adults looking for higher education at the local college, and lacks in off-campus entertainment for the students. However, Bridgeport, Connecticut is a short shuttle ride away from Somerset and offers a variety of activities for the student life of Somerset North University.
Despite the small town, there are many things to do in Somerset. If you have money, that is. Somerset offers a host of locally owned restaurants, such as La Grille, Crossroads Diner, the Bagel Shop, Flip Café, Ocean Chinese Buffet, local pizza delivery John’s and Compadres Mexican Restaurant. However, there is also a small army of fast-food chains like Taco Bell, McDonalds, Subway, Little Caesars, Main Moon Chinese, Wendy's, and Pizza Hut. Or possibly you enjoy bowling at the only hotspot in town, Louis’s Bowling Alley? Somerset public schools offers a host of parks, as do the residential neighborhoods. The biggest park being Hartford’s, a completely wooden castle set that children and students alike can be found playing a game of lava tag.
For anyone looking to shop, gather supplies for the school year, Walmart and Dollar General both are within the route of the bus that comes and goes through and around Somerset. Perhaps you live off campus and prefer whole grain and fresh produce, then Giant Eagle is the place for that. Gas is easy! There are multiple Country Fair’s, Get Go, and Kwik Fill around the area.
Car problems? No problem! Hobbs Do It Center and AutoZone can help you. Or possibly the local Ford dealership or Tom’s Secondhand Car Lot.
The center of town hosts multiple brick buildings interconnected, student apartments are above many of them for those who prefer to live off campus, places like La Grille, Flip Café, and John’s are located in this niche of town. The Laundromat is for students without washer and dryer in their apartments and thankfully is close enough for those who don’t have cars. No Regrets Tattoo Parlor is where students go to rebel against their parents, they are offered tattoos, and piercings. Bud’s Barber Shop and Chance’s Hair Salon are in competition with each other. One is older than your grandmother, built in Somerset in 1925 and run by Martha and her granddaughter Colleen. The antique store, owned by old man Casey Hermitage, isn’t nearly as old! Chance’s Hair Salon is more modern, offering hair dye, new ‘hip’ hairstyles, and keeping up to date on all the salon technology. There is a little gym and karate studio next to each other, but the YMCA is right down the road halfway between Bridgeport and Somerset.
Over twenty-one? Hotel Bar and Somerset Inn are the perfect night-out spots, with a wheel of shots and daily specials. For a night-in, the generic beer distributor and wine & spirits store will gladly give you what you need. Be careful, they ID as though their license is on the line. If you want to fool them, then you better have an amazing fake.
The rest of Somerset is your average town, students find themselves exploring it when bored but mostly stick to campus and their own interests. If anything destructive happens, the Somerset fire or police department will make their way to you. Unfortunately, Somerset doesn’t have it’s own hospital, besides the Somerset Manor for the Elderly, but Bridgeport Memorial is a ten minute (when breaking the speed limit) drive away. Somerset Town Hall and Post Office are right next to each other, where residents go to discuss new business on things such as farmland and crop yield, real estate, Somerset North University, parks and recreations, etc. Girl and Boy Scouts troops also meet.
There a few churches in town. The largest being Somerset Non-Denominational, which keeps up to date on technology and has sister sites in Bridgeport and another small town, Wesley.
The Somerset Memorial Library is a building somewhere near a small summertime-only pool. The library hosts workshops on literacy, fine arts, and sometimes looks for students to work part or full time.
Students are encouraged to participate in on-campus and off-campus activities with friends, or the student body with events such as Bowling with President Walker, and Paint the Town for Homecoming. Buses shuttle around campus and Somerset, but also make weekday and Saturday runs to Bridgeport.
SOMERSET NORTH UNIVERSITY:
CAMPUS
- - -
Get a Firsthand View A campus visit is your opportunity to get a firsthand view of a college. A college catalog, brochure or website can only show you so much. To really get a feel for our University, we encourage you to come walk around the quad, sit in on a class and visit the residence halls.
Somerset’s campus creates a stunning backdrop for all that happens within the University.
Somerset offers unparalleled resources to the University community, including libraries, laboratories, museums, and research centers to support scholarly work in nearly any field or discipline.
Rich in history, Somerset North University was founded in 1853 and is one of the oldest schools in the state of Connecticut, enriching the lives of many in or around Somerset. The campus is rural, offering many locations outdoors for students to study within the refreshing air during the warmer weather. However, many buildings on campus offer student lounges, conference rooms, and seating for students to silently work alone or actively work in groups.
The White Plaza is the student central of campus and the closest from the residential halls and is easily the largest building on campus with four floors. The student activities area,Wings & Burgers, Sub-Zero, Pasta Zone, and Moose Tracks Coffee & Cafe, game room, Campus Life, University Board Programming and Activities, and Student Government Association, empty rooms that fraternities, clubs, and organizations on campus can reserve are all hosted on the first through fourth floor of the building. The Bookstore, the Student Store, a gym with workout rooms, and multiple courts for various sports, track, and climbing wall are located in the basement. Elevator transportation is available throughout the building.
Next to The White Plaza is Van Houten Dining Hall, with a buffet style one-price-all-you-can-eat. It offers a host of different zones for food, plus a main appetizer everyday, Gluten Free menu, and desserts.
There are a multitude of buildings on campus, the Leroy Center for the Sciences is the largest science building on campus with a 100+ seating planetarium, observation deck and telescope, and a large museum that student guides give tours and generates a lot of visits from the public of Somerset, Wesley, and public schools. The smaller science centers, such as Coopley Labs, and Rorchester Hall offer resources like labs with working equipment for biology, chemistry, physics, and other sciences and small botanical gardens.
The Fletchley Center for Science and Arts is between the science district and arts quad, allowing students in the small Engineering program or sculpture, and woodshop students to use the garage and machinery.
Compton Humanity Sciences & Research Center is on the far end of campus as a large, four story building offering classrooms and research labs for projects involving Psychology and Neurosciences. Most Psychology, Sociology, and History classes are within the first through third floor. The basement is reserved for research and professor’s laboratory’s, where multiple successful studies have been held.
Near Compton is the Percy Whitehall Building, where the rest of the history, languages, philosophy department is held. A small library is also in the basement of the building for students in the department or professors to use.
However, Baron-Forness Library is a seven story library and the main source on campus for Academic Success, peer reviews, and research. The third through seventh floor are aged and spaced out for students to find the location of their book, however the first and second floor are renovated with multiple cushions, conference rooms, computer labs and laptop check-outs, and offices for graduate assistants and tutors.
Butterfield is the communications, literature, and journalism building, and the most updated in terms of expensive technology and computer labs. Students can work in the labs so long as classes are not in session, however the first floor offers a large tech lab that is open fourteen hours a day with no classes held under normal circumstances. Professors have larger offices and a large written storage room and three microfilm machines to view and read old newspaper articles.
Ghering Hall is the pre-med, speech & hearing, and nursing building, although many students take classes in the science center, this building is where everything is applied in terms to teaching prospering caregivers correct procedures. It’s liken to an actual hospital and doctors office. Students in science majors are often offered extra credit to help set-up mock-simulations.
Covington Health & Wellness Center is for students to receive check-ups, immunizations, psychological counseling, and other benefits that Somerset North offers to ensure their students are healthy.
The Wellman Building is where education students generally find their classes. There are a few special mock-classrooms for students to practice teaching. However, many students within the Education department find themselves in Somerset, Bridgeport, and Wesley learning first-hand teaching skills.
McComb Fieldhouse is the large gym and indoor center. The top floor hosts the classrooms for students in fitness, physical therapy, and sports management majors. However, this is the place has multiple gyms, an indoor track and pool. There are lifting centers and general exercise equipment centers. Most of these areas, however, have machines to scan heart rate for those in research. Some professors have labs in the basement, but most are offices.
Hamilton, Loveland, Diebold and Bruce are the art buildings, with many rooms for specific classes and concentrations within the art major. Bruce is mostly the gallery for out-of-town artists to set up and show off their work. However, Bruce is also largely empty due to a cut in funding but also for film students to set up and work on projects at their discretion.
Diebold is where the film and animation students set up. Their computers have multiple programs for character modeling, rendering, and design. However, hand-drawn animation and light tables are still taught at Somerset North, with one former Disney animator teaching the classes. Photography classes are also hosted in the computer lab, with a small dark room for students to use.
Loveland and Hamilton are mostly for the fine arts. With Loveland offering a sculpture studio and set-up. Many rooms are for drawing, painting, and even jewelry-making. A medium-sized lecture hall is housed in Loveland for Art History classes. Both buildings are near the Fletchley Center.
Alexander Auditorium is connected to the small music building, Henley Hall. Students may practice instruments, play on one of the pianos offered, or take one or two simple music classes. Empty rooms are provided for students to practice lines and a small population of Somerset North University uses the auditorium for once-in-a-blue-moon musicals or plays.
Ross Hall is the math, business management, and tech center. Multiple white boards hang throughout the building and students run a Tech & Info. Center to assist in setting up gaming devices, laptop, phone, or program issues.
Finally, Reeder Hall is where President Walker and many other important positions on Somerset North University Campus. Such as student safety and Title IX Coordinator, Student Disabilities Office, and the Financial Aid.
The dormitories are positioned around campus with various living styles. Rose and Earp Hall are near Leroy, both have traditional housing with large floors with co-ed bathrooms and large furnished common areas in the middle of the floor. For students with little financial issues, many of them choose to live in these dorms. However, Rose Hall hosts a basement food court with Papa Johns Pizza and Pasta, a Sub Place, Grill Nation, Ice Cream, Zona Mexican Grill, and the soup of the day.
Darrows is an apartment style dormitory across the street from campus with full kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, furnishing, and closet space. A rec center with the office and laundry room is in the center of Darrows Plaza. There are 6 buildings, housing two or three students per apartment, with three floors and apartments rooms per floor. The leniency of Darrows is that couples can live together through financial aid, as the building is co-ed and the coordinators of Darrows are lenient on co-ed living. Darrows is also unique as there are no RA’s, but one adult and three graduate assistants who monitor Darrows in a landlord-like way.
The third set of residential halls are the Commons, named after donors in order to help Somerset lean away from all traditional housing. There are eight, each with three floors of living space. Aldelgren, Whitney, Labine, Pithers, Kelley, Raymond, Montero, and Fiala.

ROLEPLAY RULES
- - -
I. Follow all forum rules; any such major disobedience of these rules can and will get the roleplay deleted. We don’t want that, so please keep everything along the rules set for the forums.
II. Three strikes, you’re out; this is the respect, courtesy, and appropriateness rule. Please be appropriate in and out of roleplay, be respectful and kind. Any form of bullying against other members or any form of discrimination will not be tolerated. This roleplay is LGBT-friendly.
III. Power-play, god-modding, spot-lighting, the spiel; you probably all know this one by now. We all have our little moments we want our characters to have. Just be sure to give others a chance to have fun too. There are many possibilities for this roleplay.
IV. The literacy rule; I define it as being grammar and punctuation, quality essentially. I won’t require lines—everyone has their days they can’t do a lot—but just try your best.
V. Ugh, them kids; the rule about characters. Let’s try to keep everything diverse and fun. Let’s try not to overpopulate the roleplay in gender, sexuality, one floor filled and not the other two, etc. It’s not so much a rule as a psa that any character is allowed. * * * I haven’t in-depth figured out the school policy on gender flexible housing. In my dorm students had to sign a form to say they are okay on gender-flexibility and living with someone who may be transgender, gender-fluid, nonbinary, etc. So a character would also live with a character who is okay with the living arrangements. Characters will be matched with their preferred gender or pronouns. Unless you really think your character would not sign to live in gender-flexible housing, then we’re going to be ideal and say everyone is okay with gender flexibility should a character be made that this applies to.
VI. Be real; it’s collegel, we’ve been there, done that. But also it can be a tad corny, like those 1980s college movies about the students pulling pranks and the frat parties every weekend that let anyone come in and have a drink. However, we don’t want to go too overboard to the point of unrealistic.
VII. Ode to activity; just be active, come in every once and a while. You may not have any muse, that’s okay. Lurk, chat, use a different character. Just let me know you’re still interested.
VII. Have fun; because that’s pretty easy, right.

1ST FLOOR: MEET MIRANDA!
- - -
Hello Kelley Hall residents! I’m Miranda Chancellor, the graduate assistant of this building. I work closely with the Resident Assistants and ensure that all parties are doing their jobs fairly and that Kelley Hall is one of the greatest dorms on campus. If a problem can not be resolved by a RA, then it is my job to mediate and conclude whatever problem there is. All RA’s report to me weekly updates and their night-rounds.
If you need me directly, you can find me in room 100 on the first floor of the building!
A little about me: I’m twenty-four years old with an undergraduate degree in Psychology! I’m currently working on my Master’s in School Psychology, and plan to graduate this spring. If you see me around, I enjoy talking about Netflix shows (like The Office, Sons of Anarchy, and Grey’s Anatomy), food, and my favorite sport: football! My team is the New England Patriots, and I’m from Massachusetts!
I hope you enjoy your year in Kelley Hall. Stop by the desk to say hello if I’m around, or even knock on my door to introduce yourself. See you around!
Miranda Chancellor
1ST FLOOR: BULLETIN AND NEWS

Do you have what it takes to be a Resident Assistant (RA)? Here are the cons and pros of joining Somerset's team of RA's!
CONS
1. You’re expected to be in your room pretty much all the time. Excluding the time you spare for classes, extracurricular activities (a limit of only two and must be approved by Miranda Chancellor). Resident Assistants are hardly allowed to leave, in the case that their residents needs them. Many RA’s have a ‘Where Am I?’ board outside their room, dictating their location for residents to find them. Resident Assistants are allowed fourteen vacation days throughout the school year. 2. You’re responsible for dealing with any issues your residents face. It’s their job to help sort through the wreckage of students, even if it is uncomfortable or emotionally draining. Conflicts can range from roommate conflict, academic issue, or personal difficulty whether emotional or physical. When you put up to thirty-six students in a building, things are bound to get dramatic. It is the RA’s job to mediate any fights. 3. The training process is long. Potential RA’s are trained on how to handle conflicts, briefed on campus services like psychological counseling and tutoring in case their students need them, instructed in emergency procedures, and more. That’s a hefty chunk of the summer spent learning things to help handle dorm room drama instead of soaking up the summer sun. 4. Sometimes you have to be the bad guy. College students come fresh out of high school, to seasoned upperclassmen. They are ready to show independence by partying as hard as their tolerance-free bodies will allow them to! It’s an Resident Assistant’s job to stop it. As tempting as it may be to be the “nice RA” and pretend not to see the cheap vodka those girls are sneaking into their rooms, they must be written up. Even if it isn’t as bad as underage possession or drug use, Resident Assistant’s have to ensure everyone is following the same rules. 5. At times, you will be hated. No matter how sugary sweet a RA was at the beginning of the year, and patiently answered questions. Students will still write you off after you write them up. No one wants to be raining on everyone’s parade, and even though there is no enjoyment in punishment, they will still shoot dirty looks for a few weeks. 6. You’ll need to model appropriate behavior at all times in front of your students. Even if twenty-one, Resident Assistants are not supposed to be seen drinking, carrying alcohol, or in a drunken state. Students look up to RA’s, no matter how much they may loathe to admit it. Resident Assistant’s are not expected to be seen with anything illegal, ill-appropriate, or un-modeling behavior. Dating a resident is not condoned, and neither is a multitude of other behaviors.
PROS
1. You get free room and board, which includes a large single room to oneself and the cost of food in the dining halls across campus. Free parking is available for RA’s with vehicles. Alongside that, a small bi-weekly paycheck of seventy-five dollars a week. 2. You can plan a bunch of activities to do with students. As a Resident Assistant it is essential to utilize creativity and an outgoing personality to keep students engaged and interacting. The activities coordinated alone or with the other RA’s in the building shape the college student’s memories. 3. You’ll get a resume boost. Being a Resident Assistant amps up a resume and gives great experience for a career. Learning important skills such as leadership, event facilitation, conflict management, counseling, and negotiation are essential for the professional world. 4. Most importantly, you’re helping people. Whether or not willing to admit it, students are sometimes scared when they return or begin college. They’ll look to their Resident Assistants for guidance, for a model on how to act and where to go on campus, and for help overall. RA’s are a huge asset to students, and help them stay afloat as their college lives threaten to capsize from time-to-time. Residents are so grateful to have someone to talk about their issues. Their appreciation alone is priceless! That right there should be enough of a reason for anyone to want to be a Resident Assistant.
- - -
This is NOT Hogwarts! There are no House-Elves! Please keep the laundry room tidy and pick up after your mess in the kitchen! The kitchen door will be locked after ONE more violation, and will only be available from 8 PM to 1 AM when a Resident Assistant is on duty!

Let me tell you about me. I am a [ - - - ] [ - - - ] major at Somerset. I’m originally from [ - - - ] and I really enjoy medieval and fantasy stories! I chose Somerset because the department of my major is one of the best, and the housing is affordable. While simultaneously giving everyone a supportive group of friends through the other residents of Kelley Hall.
I hope that everyone can get along this year, and I want to be a reliable bridge any student can come to with questions, comments, and concerns. I am open-minded to hearing anything, as a proactive listener and problem solver. Just a reminder, first year students are welcomed to begin moving in on Friday, August 21 beginning at 8am. Returning students are welcomed to return on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23. We encourage students to wait until everyone has arrived prior to setting up the common area and decorating. My hope is that you and the other residents on the floor are looking forward to a fantastic year with one another!
I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am entering into my sophomore year here at Somerset with a major in [ - - - ]. I was born and raised in [ - - - ]! I am a huge movie buff, so be prepared to hear many film references throughout the academic year! I chose Somerset because I loved the feel of the community and atmosphere within the university; it truly has made my experience here a lot more enjoyable while knowing you're surrounded by such a supportive group of diverse people!
My biggest hope for our floor community is that everyone feels that they belong. I want each and every one of you to feel as if you are welcomed and can have the freedom to express your thoughts, ideas, and opinions! I am also looking forward to participating in many activities with one another (hopefully movie nights?) I am very open-minded to hearing what your ideas for our floor are! If you would have an idea about doing an activity to involve everyone I want to listen to it! I want us to work as a team to build lasting friendships!
Just a reminder, first year students are welcomed to begin moving in on Friday, August 21 beginning at 8am. Returning students are welcomed to return on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23. We encourage students to wait until everyone has arrived prior to setting up the common area and decorating. This allows you to work together to make it your new home.
Thanks!

He's the Resident Assistant of the third floor and loves cult classic movies, or any movie in general. As a person and Resident Assistant he is generally nice, lax, and sometimes lets unethical issues slide so long as nothing major happens.

ROOM 301
THE QUEEN BEE && THE ARTSY FARTSY GIRL
One girl is in a top tier sorority, Delta Zeta, and cheerleader of Somerset North University. Another is simply spending her days in the art studio and hoping that her roommate doesn’t throw a party the one night she gets home early. They struggle to find an equilibrium, and even fight often. Thankfully the fellow art student in 204 empathizes with her.

THE KING KONG && THE CLASS PREZ
He is fighting becoming the king of the school, and his involvement in Lambda Chi fraternity is bringing him notice. As the brother fraternity to Delta Zeta, he and 301 often work on social greek projects together and disappear for parties together. His roommate is the student who won election simply because he looked more reliable, and he tries to be fair when dealing with other clubs on campus as president of Student Government.

ROOM 303
THE GUM SNAPPER && THE MUSIC FREAK
She doesn’t care too much, but her roommate can sometimes get on her nerves with the multitude of instruments being played. There isn’t much conflict in this room except for the occasional object flying at the wall to indicate annoyance, or worst a knock at the door. It appears that one girl with musical talents also has social talent, the other relies on her roommate to keep her sane.

ROOM 304
THE BRAINIAC && THE GREASE MONKEY
He’s smart, and he’s also smart. Their dynamic is just different. One young man keeps his 4.0 and writes essays for a living. On the other front, the other young man uses his hands and knowledge of machinery to build creations of wonderful design. They don’t see each other often, but once in awhile Mr-Leaves-An-Oil-Smudge-On-The-Counter and his intellectual roommate hang out.

ROOM 305
THE GOOD GAL && THE LETTERLADY
One is a goody two-shoes the other is a bad influence. Both girls just met and hit it off rather quickly, eating together, and hanging out together when not with their separate friends. One girl is an athlete and another has a impressive streak of being boring. The athlete often tries to get her roommate out to parties and to get that lick of alcohol in her system.

THE GAMER GEEK && THE WANNABOY
Trying to be on top is difficult, one young man doesn’t bother with the tiers of college. One young man prefers to stick to his room when he isn’t out and about or working on projects. The other is currently pledging for the top tier fraternity, Lambda Chi, while enjoying the high life of fitting in.

4TH FLOOR: RESIDENTS
ROOM 401
THE BILBO BAGGINS && THE HOLDEN CAULFIELD
One prefers to stick inside, his ‘adventures’ involving lonesome trips around campus while thinking of his depression. The other never had any sort of adventures at all, until college. His respectable self replaced by an adventurous young man who randomly goes out at two in the morning. They get along, however one is constantly attempting to get his roommate out of his funk and to hang out with friends.

ROOM 402
THE FRED WEASLEY && THE MR. DARCY
A respectable lad from a higher rung of the socioeconomic ladder and a poor kid who likes to make others laugh. One is constantly getting on the others nerve with his so-called ‘shenanigans’ by pranking others on the floor, and constantly going out with friends. His roommate bickers with everyone and has a reputation of having a bad attitude towards the girl in Room 404.
THE FRED WEASLEY Name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, sit laoreet ligula mi dolor a, curabitur lacus, morbi turpis suspendisse pharetra dolor. Libero lectus sapien commodo officia mi nisl, lacinia ut quam neque et scelerisque quam.

ROOM 403
THE SCOUT FINCH && THE BELLA SWAN
One girl is from a single dad and older brother, and identifies as ‘one of the guys’ when it comes to friend groups. The other jumps between guys like toilet paper, never seems to settle down and has a rather awful taste, but is nice and intelligent in her own ways as a guardian and motherly figure towards the other girls on the floor.
THE SCOUT FINCH Name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, sit laoreet ligula mi dolor a, curabitur lacus, morbi turpis suspendisse pharetra dolor. Libero lectus sapien commodo officia mi nisl, lacinia ut quam neque et scelerisque quam.

ROOM 404
THE HAZEL GRACE && THE ELIZABETH BENNETT
A sickly middle-class girl and her rich roommate prefers to stay inside anyways. Thankfully her roommate is understanding of her medical needs, and sticks by her side as a protector and someone who doesn’t abandon her. The only problem, her roommate is oblivious to her infatuation with the bickering boy in 402.

ROOM 405
THE JONAS && THE PETER PEVENSIE
Both boys are dreamers and leaders, naturally they tend to clash horns when the personalities clash. However, they get along relatively well enough as roommates and friends. They both have wholesome morals and an increased amount of kindness, they met in the Community Service Club, leading them to sign-up as roommates this year.

ROOM 406
THE NANCY DREW && THE CATHER AVERY
One girl likes mysteries and solving those cases, another loves fanfiction, fanart, and the excitement of shipping characters together. Their literary differences become a problem when talking about their major: original writing. However, when it comes to a normal friendship, they get along rather well.
THE NANCY DREW Name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, sit laoreet ligula mi dolor a, curabitur lacus, morbi turpis suspendisse pharetra dolor. Libero lectus sapien commodo officia mi nisl, lacinia ut quam neque et scelerisque quam.

Hm. Well, I've been studying character archetypes in class and perhaps we could do something with paring up archetypes? Like The Warrior and the Coward The Innocent and the Magician The Orphan and the Wanderer The Mother Figure and the Gentle Giant The Outcast and the Survivor The Lover and the Temptress
Or something along those lines? Idk I think character archetypes would go really well for something like this

Maybe? I'm trying to think more along the lines how someone in college, running an entire floor of 12 students, would theme it. And then make superlatives based on the theme. I don't know a common theme that would work for archetypes?

|
Post by Salted Squid on Apr 20, 2017 20:32:12 GMT -5
Tbh I was thinking that archetypes itself would be the common theme. Like perhaps the RA is a literature buff or something
Basically just the stereotypes of epic heroes in old literature tbh. But they still apply today in a lot of films/ modern literature
Idk I could think of something else if you don't think that'll work. i just want a survivor type character ok leave me alone x'D

Maybe we kinda edit the archetypes into more modern literature or Disney? I feel like an RA isn't going to use a classic literature theme unless they are an English Lit. major. But Disney or just in-general literature like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson are more common with the mix in of classic lit.

Sure, if you think we can make that work
Maybe an Oz theme? There's lots of archetypal characters in that

|

Eh. I hate Wizard of Oz.
And we don't have to do archetypes?
I think Disney might be fun if I can figure out a way to incorporate superlatives. Or even literary characters instead of archetypes like The Fred Weasley and The Holden Caulfield.

If you want I could help figure out which characters to use? Or if there's something else that needs to be completed I can work on that?

It's literally the last floor theme and a general RA introduction for each floor. A joining form and then its done. But idk when it will be opened because I have so much math to do and homework these next few weeks.

Welcome! I see you made it to this page. Great! I am excited to see what sort of characters you create. The form is below on a separate post for you to copy and paste. Just a few quick things for when you create a character:
- Try to keep gender ratio somewhat even. You may create, for now, 2-4 characters.
- If you have a character who is trangendered, the student would be living with their preferred pronoun. And we are ideal and say that their roommate is okay with living them. However, due to some people possibly be uncomfortable with rping romance; I would suggest to ask the other roleplayer before taking the character meant to have a implied-romance plot with their other-half (i.e. the King Kong/ the Queen Bee, Merlin/Morganna, the Queen/the King of Camelot, Mr. Darcy/Elizabeth Bennett). Or there are plenty of platonic friendship, or rivalry roommate scenarios to choose from with an open possibility for romance in the future.
- S/he pronouns can be changed to they for nonbinary characters. In order to keep a common s/he gender ratio even I kept it a 3:3 per floor, but created most rooms with the possibility for the pronouns to change to 'they/their' instead! The same romance plot-rule applies for the main-romance characters.
- The picture of your character is supposed to be 200 x 200 px.
- I tried to make it so the main and common majors of college students are implied to be on campus.
