( nah, you're good ^^ )
Renee looked like she was going to say something to Andrew when the other girl in the room spoke up. She turned and faced her, giving a friendly smile. "Hey," she said, giving a wave that would have seemed awkward if it wasn't delivered with such confidence. "I guess we're supposed to introduce ourselves or something. I'm Renee, and this is my brother, Andrew." She gestured to him and he gave a similar wave to hers, only his was a little awkward.
Andrew smiled, and unlike his wave his smile was both warm and confident. "Hi," he greeted, eyeing the table of snacks. He wasn't hungry, exactly, but he had to figure out whether he'd get something to eat soon or if it was longer to wait than he thought he could
( wow this post was so bad wth. this is the kind of post I'll read in half and hour and wish I could rewrite, but whatever. I can't be bothered right now, I'm too tired. )

Mackenzie had to say she admired Renee's nonchalant attitude towards her and the kid sitting a chair away from all of them. Mackenzie may be usually energetic and jumping all over the place but when it came to first time introductions, people actually believed her to be shy. That won't last long, and if these people were supposed to be classmates or something of her's, they would figure that out quick. "Renee and Andrew...I'll try to remember that. But I'm not good with names so I might give you a random nickname to play it off." She chuckled, feeling a little better, since the others weren't so awkward. She blinked a few times and shook her head as if she just realized something, which on actuality she did, "Oh right, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Mackenzie. Mackenzie Burton. But everyone calls me Kenzie, or something else like that." She shrugged silently hoping they wouldn't be using the nickname just yet. So why she gave it out was a good question, but she assumed since they all just met that they probably won't use her nickname for a while.
--
Benjamin listened to their introductions rather than spoke for the time being, he wasn't sure if he wanted to introduce himself yet. But since he figured they would ask soon enough anyway he ran a hand through his hair several times, taking off his hat as he did so. It was a habit of his, it gave his hands something to do. "I'm Benjamin." He gave a smile that was gone on almost seconds and a small wave. He didn't like talking to knew people. Or talking to people on general. He would rather be alone doing something more or less productive.

Renee smirked. "You can call me whatever you want," she said with a single quirked eyebrow, earning her a smack on the arm from her brother. She rolled her eyes but transformed her slightly crooked grin into something friendly again. "Yeah, yeah. Buzzkill," she muttered, though she was still smiling. "Mackenzie and Benjamin," she pointed to them in turn, committing the names to memory. She wouldn't be here with them for long, but she might as well be polite enough to remember their names. Anything else would be downright rude.
--
Andrew shook his head, though he seemed at least a little amused. "You'll have to excuse my sister, she has no idea when it is and isn't appropriate to flirt. Here's a hint for you sis, when your brother is standing not three feet away belongs to the latter category." He shook his head again, something which was obviously more habit than anything, then turned to the table of snacks. "Did any of you want me to toss you something? We were supposed to make yourselves at home, right? Might as well make the most of it."

{before I post anything, do you mind if like Benjamin is SUPER against LGBT stuff? Like mutter comments or say something in his head about it? I just don't want to make you mad or anything if you're uncomfortable with it.

( as long as you keep it to a minimum, I think I should be mostly comfortable with it. I'm LGBT myself, so if it gets too much that would make me directly uncomfortable as I wouldn't be able to help drawing parallels into my own life, but as long as it's a rare-ish occurrence and mostly to himself and maybe not out loud - especially to Renee, that would sting - I think I should be just fine.
also, thank you so much for asking <3 it means a lot that you'd take my comfort into consideration )

{Yeah don't worry, it wouldn't be like a daily occurrence or anything ^^" And alright, I'll make sure that he doesn't say anything in front of Renee. It'll probably be mainly to himself anyway
And your welcome <3 I would hate to drive you away from being a friend because I didn't think before I did something you know? Especially in an rp
I'll reply right now lol, I just have to reply to something else really quick}

( thanks, that sounds good to me ^^
I know what you mean, yeah. I'm going to say thank you one more time anyway just because it really does mean a lot, not everyone would have gone to the trouble and I really do appreciate it <3 it just goes to show that you can be respectful regardless of personal beliefs, which means twice as much to me as a religious member of the community.
okay! you do that, I'll be here when you get back. )

Mackenzie didn't connect any dots yet for a few moments and looked puzzled. Her gaze flickering between Renee and Andrew as he smacked her for something Makenzie had yet to figure out the reason for. It clicked soon though, and thankfully before Andrew had to point it out to her, but her face paled slightly after he spoke. She tried to not focus on what happened too much for the sake of saving Renee any embarrassment she could possibly feel, but in her own mind she was trying to think up something to say that would maybe change the subject, or perhaps not make their talk as a whole go down like Titanic. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before saying anything. "Flirting by family members is never a good thing. I've learned the hard way, God help me." She grinned and rolled her eyes as she did so.
--
Benjamin was sort of in disbelief for a moment when he heard the girl named Renee say what she did and her brother talk about flirting. He didn't want to believe it, he quite frankly couldn't. Although his face didn't show it. He drew his lips into a thin line as he looked between the three of them. Gross. he thought in a disdainful manner I'll never understand it... not that he wanted to. But he didn't think about it much longer before hearing the offer about snacks. "What do they have up there?" He asked, turning his attention to the boy rather than everyone at once.
{It's no problem frand lol

Andrew looked to Mackenzie, looking pleased. "Thank you, someone gets it!" He gestured to her, then fixed his gaze on Renee again. "Now, if only you had the sense to learn this, too. I'm all for flirting, but do it when I'm not there." He'd been there at every wedding, every party, and he'd seen more than he ever wanted to. As an older brother, just about the last thing he wanted was to be a witness to Renee's approach to any situation involving another girl. He shook his head a third time, by this point it was rather laughable, and surveyed the table quickly. "We have some sandwiches, some chips, soda and water and about a dozen kinds of cookies."
--
Renee was clearly not embarrassed in the least by the lack of reciprocation. That wasn't what it was about and besides, she was desensitised to that by now. She'd even moved completely on, not caring to go on. "Throw a girl one of those sodas, would you?" she replied, and within moments a diet coke was headed straight towards her. She caught it easily and cracked it open, taking a sip in the same movement. "Thanks, bro," she said, but got no response. As expected, then.
( *finger guns, as a joking thank you this time* you have to tell me to stop saying thank you or I never will. I'm too British to even consider it. )

Mackenzie smiled at her brother as he agreed with her on the matter. He seemed the most down to earth so far, but she hadn't heard much out of the other kid. But he was just that, a kid. He looked young, perhaps fifteen, maybe a little over. Most teenagers were wrapped up in their own drama, not very focused on others. "My family is the reason I don't flirt anymore. So yeah my pick up lines are really stupid now. Like really stupid. For example," she cleared her throat and looked at a plant in the room, since she didn't want to get Benjamin involved. He would probably feel weird about it, judging by how quiet he was. "Hey plant, are you a parking ticket? Because you have fine written all over you." She started laughing after she said such a horrible pick up line and ran a hand through her hair out of embarrassment. Not that she should really feel embarrassed, they didn't really know each other.
--
At hearing the snack options, Benjamin's eyes widened. He missed breakfast, since he was so nervous to go to England or wherever he was headed to - he couldn't even remember now because of how anxious he was - so all of those snacks sounded like heaven. Especially the sweets, who didn't enjoy them? No one Benjamin knew anyway. "S---, someone likes to bake then." He chuckled, assuming they didn't mind his cursing considering they were all around his age or older. "I guess a cookie or two then." He shrugged and held up a hand, expecting him to toss them rather than slide them across the table.

"Flirting with plants, huh?" Andrew said, already picking up two cookies and sending them flying through the air towards Benjamin with impressive accuracy. "That's new, I have to say." Finally, he grabbed a sandwich for himself and found a chair to sit down in. "I have to say though, that pick-up line was indeed as you described it. Stupid. I imagine the circumstance would have to be quite specific for it to actually work. Especially if your target is a plant," he said, but there was nothing aggressive in his tone, just good-natured teasing. Was it too soon for that? Probably. But the only way to get to know people was to make both parties just a little uncomfortable.
--
Renee, seemingly bored with the conversation, piped up from her corner. "So, weren't you two allowed to bring someone with you?" she asked because she'd been thinking about it for a while. They clearly didn't know each other, but the four of them were the only people there. "The letter said that we'd all get to bring a friend. And that there'd be five of us," she continued, clearly realising this as she spoke and not vice versa. "It just seems weird that only three would show up is all," she continued, only thinking through it properly now.

Mackenzie rolled her eyes playfully, a smirk on her lips as she spoke to Andrew. "Oh excuse me, I didn't realize we had a flirting expert in our midst." She knew it was a horrible pick up line, most of them were. Which is why she didn't really use it. Well, one time she did as a dare, along with keeping the conversation going with the same style of flirting. It was awful, she should have just taken the L. Her attention was brought to Renee though when she mentioned brining people to this thing they were headed to. Confusion crossed her features, her eyebrows were knitted together, "Why would we bring someone to something like this?" She asked, obviously puzzled at hearing they could bring someone to a school where only people with powers like their's are allowed. They all had psychokineses right?
--
Benjamin was surprised by the throw, he wasn't expecting a good one to be honest but it was a good thing he could throw. He didn't feel like picking it up off the floor if it had fallen. Then again, that's what the five second rule was for. He studied the cookies he received: chocolate chip and peanut butter, the best kind in his opinion. He had started to munch on the food but at hearing Renee's remark about him not bringing a friend. "What's the point in bringing a friend if we're here for college scholarships? And for sports especially." His words also earned him a look of confusion from Mackenzie. What was she confused about? Didn't they all know what they were coming here for?

"College scholarships?" Andrew said, clearly confused. "Look, I'm in my last semester now. It's too late for a scholarship to make a difference. And sports? We're here because Renee won a cruise from the school district. Some kind of senior celebration." He could see Renee working hard to figure this out, and he was just as lost as her. "Why are you here?" he said, looking at Mckenzie since she'd looked about as confused as he felt himself. Clearly she wasn't here for a sports scholarship, either. But if that wasn't her reason for being here, what was it? None of this made any kind of sense, not even slightly.
--
Renee was frowning now, suddenly on edge. She'd done all that research, everything had come up clean. Why would someone go to all that trouble just to bring her and Andrew here, and then employ different methods to bring another two? How had they done it? She hated feeling at such a loss, but every explanation she came up with made no sense. There was nothing connecting her to either of these people. She'd never seen them before, never spoken to them. She couldn't imagine anyone she was close with had, either.

Mackenzie looked at all of them sort of nervously, she realized she hadn't said what she was here for yet. But should she said anything really? Maybe she can just make her answer vague. "I was told I was going somewhere for school. Some sort of private school I don't know." Which was true, she didn't. Her dad and mom had arranged everything when it came to research so besides the fact that it was a private school in another country for people like her was also she knew. She looked at the both one siblings with a raised eyebrow. "Senior celebration? I'm not even a senior. And obviously he isn't." She motioned to Benjamin who had stopped eating as they all began contemplating the possibilities of what was going on here. But whenever Mackenzie thought she had an idea, it made no sense and she hit a dead end.
--
Benjamin stood from where he was sitting, leaving his food on the table, too worried about what was going on now rather than food. He started to pace a little in the room, it helped him think. Well usually it did, right now he couldn't think of anything. "This is some weird s---. We don't know each other, we're all here for different reasons, and we all - assumingly - checked to make sure this was legit before we came right?" He stopped pacing to ask them, meeting all of their gazes one at a time and then as a hole before he ran a hand threw his hair and started pacing again.

"Obviously we checked to see this wasn't some scheme," Renee said, a little affronted, but not enough to actually make a big deal out of it. "Everything checked out. I got in touch with people who'd gone before us." She closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose, going through all the possibilities. There was no link. Unless... She'd heard of other people with powers before, of course she had. Those who did liked to show off, either by becoming a superhero or by turning against those who had. They were rare, extraordinarily rare, but they were out there. She looked to her brother, making a vague waving gesture with her hand. He nodded.
--
Of course Renee had to go to the most extreme option, Andrew thought. But he supposed it was the only thing thus far that made some sense, even if the odds were so low it might as well make no sense at all. And how were they supposed to bring it up? They couldn't exactly just casually explain what they could do. That would almost certainly end in disaster. Luckily enough, they didn't have to, because all four of the people who'd led them in here reappeared, but there was something else in them now. In at least one of the men he saw renewed determination.
