Jamie had been doing well the last couple of weeks, some of the doctors were talking about how within the year, he should expect to resume normal activity. He was able to be walking around without feeling dizzy and his breathing had started to become normal, now he was sitting up-with his back being supported-back at square one. Jamie was about as small as you would expect someone who had trouble walking from one and of a room to another without needing to rest for the day. He was kept on a diet to keep himself from becoming overweight from the complete lack of exercise in his life. All and all, other then the fact he was laying in a hospital bed, he didn't look like someone who could potentially die. He kept his light brown hair at least clean and brushed out of his face, he regularly got help getting to the baths to clean himself, and he took a sense of pride in what he could do. Regardless of what he could and couldn't do, Jamie had to accept the fact he had to do a couple more tests to try to get him back out of the hospital and back on self treatment. For the moment they had him hooked up to an IV where he was getting his medication through that, though normally they switched to having him breath in the medication rather then taking it in through his bloodstream. It was sixes to him really. Either way his chest hurt, he was exhausted, and he just wanted his lungs to do their job.

Of course it was Jordies luck that the moment things started looking up, everything came crashing down. He'd been out of the hospital for over a year, he was just getting back into intramural soccer and competitiive swim, using the excuse that it was good for keeping him in shape and becoming comfortable with his prosthetic to throw himself into the two sports. And of course he had to collapse in the middle of soccer practice, him waking up in an ambulance on its way to St. Anne's, and now he was being wheeled into a room while they where waiting for his test results, clearly worried he relapsed for a third time, although Jordi the entire way fought the nurses and doctors, insisting it was just him not drinking enough water. Did they listen to him? Nope. Instead they stuck him in a room with another boy, Jordi muttering curses in Spanish towards them, before looking at the boy, happy there was a blanket over his legs, hiding his prosthetic. The nurses tried to help him onto the extra bed, but the teen slipped into it himself, keeping the blanket over his legs as he sat sullenly, watching as the nurses hooked him up to a heart monitor, and then left, leaving the boy to lean back onto the bed, running a frustrated hand through his thick black hair, glancing at Jaime. "What do they got you in here for?" He asked, deciding to make small talk.

Jamie watched as basically everything went down in the room that had been empty only moments before. The new roommate seemed rather reluctant to be here with his glares and whatever he had said to the nurses. He was surprised when the boy initiated conversation basically right away. "Me?" Mentally he went through the reasons, he had already been trying to get better and then his normal symptoms returned with all the rage and fury they could muster. "Just a relapse, normally it doesn't take long to get me back out. Just have to get this mess working right again" Jamie had to take a couple of deep breaths, he hadn't quite thought the whole talking thing through. He wasn't going into detail on this, though, he doubted that the other boy didn't want to learn his life's story. "What about you since you asked?" It couldn't be that bad if he was able to move around on his own-or it was just something that didn't effect his physical well being. He hoped for the former for the other boy's sake.

"Honestly? Not sure this time. I passed out in the middle of a game and they think it could be a relapse. So now it's testing time and keeping me in the hospital till they think I can leave." He responded, shifting so he good get a good look at the boy he'd be rooming with for at least the night, maybe even longer. The kid seemed to be about his age, and was fairly friendly, at least that's what Jordi was assuming from the few words exchanged between them. He was tiny, unlike Jordi, who was about 5"9', and looked small only because of his build. "Oh- I'm Jordi, sorry, I just realized I never introduced myself," he added, almost half heartedly, his accent becoming slightly more prominent the less he tried to cover it up, and right now he didn't exactly care about it.

Jamie shook his head slightly, well here's to hoping that it wasn't that bad of a fall. "Jamie" He tried to be simple with his replies now, keep himself as well as he could with the resources he had. He would rather jump into a pit of snakes then press the call button because he talked too much. Last time something like that happened he got scolded by his god-parents where all he could do was sit there and stare at them. "What do you play?" Hopefully that would allow Jordi to carry most of the conversation between the two of them. Not that his own life was that interesting to talk about for too long anyways.

"Nice to meet ya Jamie- I play soccer and I swim. I was at a soccer game earlier today, wish I coulda been there, but que sera, sera," he responded with a sigh, deciding it would be better to keep things general, simple, like how he was in the intramural for soccer and in normal swim classes as he got his times back up to what they used to be. He studied the boy intently, noticing that he kept his responses short, and couldn't help but wonder why. "So, have you heard the stories of this hospital?" He asked, changing the subject away from sports and to something he was more interested in- how haunted this place was. When he was younger it used to terrify him, he'd refuse to sleep without one of his parents around, or without a rosarie, but now he was just amused with the banging and strange noises of the place. It kinda started to grow on him after a while. (Goood night! I should probably do the same XD )

Jame cocked his head, he had never head of someone outside the ones in the Olympics actually into swimming as a sport. It was quite strange to think about someone who was still in school actually being able to do that, was there a pool right next to his school-wait, was he even in school? Jamie was being home-schooled till he was deemed well enough to go back to a public school, so it could be possible that Jordi was also home-schooled and was doing sports with the local team or something. "The ghosts?" He had heard of it, someone like him doesn't go through life without hearing about the ghosts in the hospital. Probably a bunch of people who had died while in the hospital, or loved ones who couldn't move on and still visited the hospital for their already dead relative. One time he had heard a baby crying in the middle of the night, and when he tried to get the nurses there to take care of the child, they said that none of them were actually crying. "Yeah, the stories float around here and there."

"Heh. Float, get it?" He joked, a grin spreading a crossed his face, leaning a bit forward. "Y'know their true, there are some figures that you'll see flitting around in your peripherals." He hummed, the mischief on his face clear. "If we could get some equipment I bet we could talk to them," He added, thinking about spicing up this visit if it stayed any longer. He shifted on the hospital bed, wincing when he pulled at a couple of the wires that where taking his heart rate.

Jamie laughed a bit, having not realized the joke he had unintentionally made "It would be interesting to find out about the fellow hospital dwellers" He tried to get himself to not totally abandon the 'don't talk a lot' thing, but he wasn't sure how long he could keep that up while mid conversation. "How do you expect us to get equipment? I am going to be here for at least a couple days and I have no idea about you." There was the option of having their families bring the equipment for them, but would they really want to bring things like that in here?

"Theres always Amazon," He responded, waggling his eyebrows mischievously. "They want me to be here at least a night, or at least until my tests come back, so we do have some time. Or maybe," He leaned forward, eyes glittering with excitement. "Maybe we could sweet talk one of the nurses, I bet at least one of 'em have a sweet spot for one of us," He added, letting out a soft laugh, looking forward to this adventure, even if it was just them talking and nothing much else.

Jamie could see one problem with amazon, for one, at the moment he had no way of actually purchasing anything from an online source, but he assumed that Jordi had some way of doing it as he had brought up the solution. "You are making it sound like we are going to be manipulating the nurses into this" Which was probably the case, Jamie didn't have a strong opinion to do it or to not do it, so he couldn't argue against it at the moment. "Wonder if we will be able to do this stuff tonight while you are still here" He hummed, tapping the side of his bed in thought. If either of them left before they were able to actually talk to the ghosts, would they be able to visit during the night to be able to do this? How did the hospital visitation hours work? His experience was always limited due to the fact that his family had to visit during their off time, which normally meant they left in enough time to sleep for work the next morning.

"Well, if I do leave before you I could always get in pretty easy," He commented, before widening his eyes, almost innocently, "Oh, I'm so sorry Nurse Jackson, but I left the casing for my prosthetic in the room I was staying in, could I go in and get it? I need it so I can get to school tomorrow," He asked, his voice going up half a pitch as he mimicked a sweet child tone. Of course, Nurse Jackson would know better, considering he was the one who planned the Great Wheelchair Race of '15, and hiding those wind-up animals everywhere on the Peds floor. No doubt she'd be suspicious, but it was worth a shot.

"Please don't leave your prosthetic here just to talk to ghosts" Jamie tried to be as blunt as possible, he could see the direction, but let's not have either of them suffer just for some ghosts. "Though my excuse could be I forgot....no idea because the only thing I am leaving here with is going to be pretty well attached." Normally after these kinds of things-the staying for a bit things-he ended up taking an IV home in his arm. "So it would be up to you to get out of here first if one of us has to go" Thank you medication for making it easier for him to rest and talk.

"Aww c'mon, why not? It doesn't look that creepy when its not attached," He retorted, the grin spreading on his face, before nodded knowingly at the IV dilemma- he'd done that multiple times. He shifted, realizing he never talked about his prosthetic so openly, he hadn't even realized that he mentioned it until Jamie said something about it. "I could just say I was loopy with drugs, and someone wheeled me out to the bus and I didn't realize it was gone till I got home. I have crutches there, it's a flawless plan."

"It sounds like it would be a huge hassle, but I won't stop you if you are dead set on doing it that way" He shrugged it off, playing around with the line he currently had, not the one that would go home with him, but one of those generic IV lines you see in hospital films. "I think they would be pretty inclined to believe you with the loopy part, I'm pretty sure the nurses and doctors here have seen some crazy people leave here"
(I have done more research on PICC lines then I did for any of my essays xD)

(okay same though omg xD )
He gave Jaime a rather wicked grin, it was clear that he had pulled these kind of stunts before. "Well, I am the person who started the Great Wheelchair race a coupla years ago, not to mention their still finding the wind-up animals in Peds. They know i'm a bit on the crazy side," He said with a laugh, although the laugh faltered when the nurses and doctors came in, giving them a grin, although he noticed the tension in their stances. Something was up, especially when they came in earlier than expected.

Jamie frowned at the first example, that was something he had heard about in passing, but never got any sort of explanation "I only started coming here more regularly about a year ago, so I wasn't really around for that. Could you explain?" It did seem that the nurses seemed to want to avoid the topic or they just didn't openly talk about it too often-at least around him. He was all ready to hear the explanation when the doctors came in, he mentally questioned who they were here for and for what reason. It could be the 'we have to do tests now' for either one of them. The heavy atmosphere that seemed to follow the group in told him that it was another reason they were in here.

"Whats up, docs?" Jordi asked, feigning a grin, trying to keep the air as light as possible, although he could fear creeping into his chest already. There could be a hundred things that could be wrong with him, and by the way they looked so nervous it was probably one of the worse options. He wrinkled his nose, tempted to make a joke about dying, but decided not to, considering he had no idea what the other boys condition was. "Why don't we go outside to talk, Jordi?" One of the doctors asked gently, almost too gently. The boy shifted in the bed, before nodded, sliding off of it and following them carefully, back stiff. It didn't take long for them to explain what was going on- that he was had a heart condition, that his heart had weakened from last years chemo, but after that he kind of zoned out, the only way he would actually be able to handle the situation. He'd research later. All he really heard was that he'd be staying at the hospital a lot longer than expected, and then he went back into the room, sitting on the bed and studying the railing.

Jamie didn't speak when Jordi entered the room again, he knew about the 'outside talk'. He experienced it twice in his life before, and he was certain he would hear it again and again till he died. He didn't know how to lighten the mood from such a talk-even if he had no idea exactly what went down. He really only felt like he could feed off of a mood, rather then improve it at all. Regardless, Jamie wracked his brain for ideas. The best he had was 'at least' and that was probably one of worst thing someone can say in this situation. There was also making jokes of the situation, but he didn't fully know the situation to be able to joke about it. The joke would probably be too soon anyways, and insensitive. He didn't want to say 'I'm sorry' because what if it wasn't a bad thing and just included information that they didn't want to say in front of a stranger? "Nice Bugs Bunny reference" Was his most safe option, and so he went with it.

Jordi let out a soft snort, a smile barely touching his lips before glancing back at the boy, knowing it was a rather awkward situation. He ran a hand through his hair, before sighing and responding with a soft thanks, leaning back down on the bed, closing his eyes, before remembering Jamies question. "Looks like I won't have to leave my leg here." He managed, trying to laugh it off. "The Great Wheelchair Race was a product of me going stir-crazy. Along with the other kids on the oncology floor. Anyone who wasn't stuck in bed or in Quarantine we all gathered at the desk and.. well, had a race. I gotta tell you, the look of shock on the doctors faces when they saw a hundred bald kids zooming down the halls was priceless." He responded with a soft laugh. He still had no idea how they got away with it, the nurses and doctors where usually pretty strict on keeping a close eye on the kids. He made sure everyone was safe, yes, but still he got an earful from just about everyone. He couldn't help but smile a bit at the memory, it was worth it, for sure. Someone even got it on video.

"Dang, looks like the next person to leave their leg here is me...One must make sacrifices I suppose." He was trying to roll with what Jordi had said about the leg, it was something? He held back a laugh when Jordi had spoken about the race, honestly he thought that would be a lot of fun. He probably wouldn't be one to think something that epic up. "How did you get that many wheelchairs?" Jamie laughed out, trying to imagine all the kids happily wheeling down the hall. He could imagine the group trying to think of a path for their race and each of them trying to fight for the top spot in the race. "Who won in the end?" He hoped there was an end after they were found by the nurses and doctors, that they just out ran the staff while racing.

"I mean, I'm familiar with the procedure," He quipped, wiggling his eyebrows, trying to look as happy as he could be at this point. "The wheelchairs? Man, that was pretty easy. A lot of the kids where in wheelchairs to begin with- I mean, a lot of them are on some pretty harsh stuff, or are healing from surgeries so it wasn't too hard. Also, there was a group of us who managed to find out where they kept the extras and," He shrugged, laughing at the memory. "I don't even know if anyone one- I mean, someone probably did but no one was actually paying attention to someone winning. Boy, the nurses where so mad, I mean, theres a reason why the nurses are so vigilant now," He said, laughing, wishing they'd be able to do something like that again.

Jamie enjoyed listening to this story, if he wasn't laughing harder then he probably should have, a huge grin would be in it's place. "Oh, man" He managed to breath out, taking a second to catch his breath for the time being. He didn't make the right choice-even with the decision to make the right choice-when it came to the whole talking part. He could only imagine what shape he would be in if he talked like Jordi did just now. The moment he felt like he got a sufficient amount of air back he said "It sounds like that was a great time, though, regardless of what it caused" So what if the nurses were more vigilant? It only spoke volumes on how epic it must have been to witness such an event. He wished that he could have at least seen it in passing, rather then hearing it years later.

"Yeah, exactly. Although I got the stink eye from nurse Jackson for a good month, but what could they say to a dying cancer patient?" He responded, laughing himself, although he noticed how long it took the kid to regain his breath. Maybe he has something wrong with his lungs. Jeez, that would suck. He thought, but remained silent on that, deciding it wouldn't really be appropriate to ask. "It's a lot harder to get away with stuff around here, now, but it makes it all the more fun to get away with stuff here." He added, shaking his head at the memory. Luckily most of the kids who where at the Great Wheelchair race were long gone- either they got better or... didn't. He knew a couple who where back in the hospital again, but it was heartening to see people leave, no matter how long he was stuck in this cesspool.
