Yesterday I posted a thread about my cat being injured and today we were able to take her to the vet, I actually just got home from taking her there. She did have an abscessed wound, a couple actually. She's going to have to stay overnight so they can perform surgery on her. One of them was really big and was covered with dead skin that they'll have to cut off, she'll have to get a tube for that one. She's going to have to become an indoor kitty for a bit to give her time to recover, and also because of the tube. Hopefully, everything goes well and I get reunited with my old girl tomorrow afternoon<3 I've had her for just about 12 years idk what I'd do without her I love her so much

@animefreak @crysolis thank you both!
Her getting her surgery was bittersweet because this weekend is my best friend's birthday weekend and we had made plans to play Until Dawn all weekend together, but I had to do an IOU because my cat will need me more this weekend. Thankfully she was understanding of it all. Tomorrow before we pick up Jewels, we have to go a get a litter box, though. Having her as an indoor cat will be a bit different haha she hasn't been an indoor cat since we first moved.

I'm glad ur kitty is going to be okay! Just remember that she might be a bit upset with you for a little while because of the vet visit and the fact that she can't go outside for a while!
Also give her some gentle cuddles for me!

The Noble Dragon I'm pretty sure she's okay on the whole staying inside part, she hates it when I try to take her out. Every morning she'll hide underneath my bed and won't come out (not even for food!) and if I go to put her out she'll try to get out of my arms and run upstairs. I'm going to give her her space and let her approach me on her own time before giving her lots of cuddles! Azura me too! I'm really nervous because this is the first time one of our pets have to have surgery that is beyond getting them fixed /.\

I'm glad she's going to be ok. I know when mine have had to stay overnight before, I'm usually a nervous wreck until they are back home with me. At least it was something they can fix, and it sounds like she wants to stay inside, so that's like a bonus treat for her. Good luck with her recovery!

injured cats are the scariest thing to deal with ;-; I'm glad she made it out okay! Have fun with her when she's super sleepy, gonna guess the pain meds are gonna be fun to administer. Haha. When my cat came back after getting surgery.. she was so tired and out of it. It was very cute in a way.

My cat broke his shoulder blade a few months back. I literally got 10 hours of sleep in one week because I was so worried.

Okay so I just woke up and got off the phone with the vet (and also woke up)!
Jewels abscessed wound (the biggest one) was really bad so they want her to stay over night again so they can make sure it's going to heal well. I had decided to get blood work done and they were going to test her pee. I know she's had some small problems before, I just hadn't been able to get her up to the vet until now. The results from the tests show that she has kidney problems and is actually really anemic, her RBC is 15 when it should be 30, they also want to test that again soon just to make sure it wasnt because of the wound. They mentioned something about her thyroid, but unfortunately I had been still waking up so I don't remember what all she had said about that.
My mom told me to lie about having her almost all her life because we haven't given her any of her shots. We got her fixed but her first owner that briefly had her had already gotten her up to date on her shots and my parents are horrible at staying up to date on any type of shots for the animals. So I think lying about not having her for long is partly a reason why she's staying overnight again. Well, I don't think, I kind of know. She mentioned that when she was saying why she wanted her to stay a bit longer.
I just have one question, anemia is genetic, right? All of my cats are directly related to her so I'm kind of worried.

if she doesn't have shots she should definitely be an indoor kitty. There are a lot of nasty things out there that could be potentially dangerous for her if she's not up to date. Our cats aren't up to date either but they're indoor so they're not exposed to as many harmful things. That being said, I really hope she's okay! If she's having kidney problems, I suggest giving her tons of water, maybe even adding it to her food. And I'm sure they'll probably give you medicine for her or special kidney food (which tbh isn't that great if you look at the ingredients, a lot of the vet prescribed foods are horrible) but I hope she's okay and will recover quickly! <3

I'm hoping it's not too serious and can be treatable! I feel horrible about the whole kidney thing. My mom said that it was because she was old and we have a dog that leaks all the time, we figured she just had issues similar to our dog</3 but thank you! I miss her so much, I can't wait to see her again!<3

So hope for the best! Hopefully no kidney stones or anything like that. Even if there are, if they're minor I think they can be dissolved with drugs :3 (sorry if I seem like a know it all, I'm just in training to be a vet and I love talking about stuff like this xD) Are you getting to see her again tomorrow? <3 also is her name Jewels? Cause that's my dog's name haha xD But she sounds like a super special kitty <3

She is very special to me<3 out of all my cats, she was the only one who stayed when our renters moved in with dogs! That's pretty cool that our little furry friends share the same name c:

Sometimes surgery (similarly, our one cat hd bladder stones and had to have them removed) so I'm sure it's probably not to bad! Surgery always seems super scary but it usually goes well! Only speaking from experience since my one cat has had like 4 total surgeries lol he's a mess xD As for the tests, I'm sure they'll be alright! Even if she's anemic, it just means she'll need more iron in her diet if it's iron-deficiency anemia. You can always go visit her, I'm sure! It usually helps boost their spirits. When my one cat had his leg broken, I went to go visit him and he was SOOO happy to see me he was purring like mad. It's nice for them when they have something familiar in a scary place c: Aww such a cutie! <3 She really must love you if she stayed and the others left! <3 And yeah that is really cool! c:

She's back home!! I had called at 11 to check up on her, but the doctor was busy. My mom and I quickly went up to go and visit her immediately afterwards because they closed at 12. The doctor took the time to talk to us and we were able to take Jewels home. She luckily didn't need to get a tube, but she still needs to be inside for a couple of weeks. She's been put on a temporary diet to help with her kidney issues and we went ahead and grabbed some flea medicine for all of our cats. I was kind of worried it would be over $600 because the first estimate was over $300 on the second day and they had to do more tests, but it was barely over $300 for everything. She does have to go back in for a check up Wednesday at 6, though, but everything is looking good for my old girl!(:

Aw so glad to hear it! I bet she's definitely glad to be back home! So glad to hear it wasn't that expensive, either! I hate when vets charge so much money, it makes me sad that the costs for vet bills are so high these days. How's she doing so far? Is she ruffled up at all from being away from home?

Glad she's home and improving! Yeah, vet bills are killer, and if Jewels ends up on a c/d diet (the food for urinary health), that quickly gets expensive too, but the important thing is she's ok.

@spottedstar3137 Turin not Torino thank you guys so much! She's been doing fine so far, she's been a bit more clingy than usual. I tried to watch Samurai Jack in the lounge area in my house, which is literally right outside my door, and she wouldn't stop tugging at the gate to get out until I picked her up and sat her on my lap. She hasn't been too ruffled up, she's a really calm and well-behaved cat, so it takes a lot for something to upset her. I think the most upset she was, was on the way home. We had to put her in a box this time and she enjoys looking at the scenery when going for a drive, but she couldn't inside the box. She made her annoyance very well known</3 On the topic of her upcoming diet, I have samples I'm supposed to give her and whichever one she likes the most will determine which one they give her. So far, D is off the table for sure. Wet food is nice for giving her liquid medicine, but my skinny girl is a pig and needs way more than what they put in the cans (oh yeah, completely forgot about this, but she also has worms :/). It's also going to be hard to determine what she likes and is just eating it because she can't say no to food because she will eat just about anything like it's her last meal.

those diets are so phoney i hate that vets shell them out like water but it'll be good for her in the long run. There's gotta be something she likes out of all of the cans xD

@spottedstar3137 as soon as I had her out and on my lap she calmed down so much<3 I'm kind of worried I'm going to have to sleep opposite way on my bed because she keeps trying to stay as close to me as possible, which I can't have that right now with her bladder</3 She may be a skittish cat, but she will be vocal about the things she don't like and she hardly ever makes a noise in the car so long as she can look outside lol all of my other cats hate car rides XD I'm not too knowledgeable in this area, but I'm willing to do whatever I can to get her back to normal. They aren't can food! Well, one is, the rest are dry food actually! Dᴀɴɴʏ Pʜᴀɴᴛᴏᴍ thank you! I do, too! She just needs to rest and take the time to heal now.
