EthanTheAnnus 's character: Lily|| short, lithe and strong young 16-year-old girl|| She usually wears goth-type clothes (dark colours) and her hair is naturally black.|| Lily doesn't care about much (hence dressing goth-style) but she does care about her mother, sister and two brothers.|| Lily is from District 6, the transportation District. @splashycat 's character: Zack|| very tall, lanky 17-year-old boy|| He would normally wear more rugged clothing apparel that would suit his life and tasks in the woodlands of District 7. His hair is a mellow sandy brown.|| Zack's only living family is his father. His mom and little sister both died during an epidemic that spread through the District.|| Zack comes from District 7, the settlement responsible for supplying Panem with lumber. As a result of working in this environment Zack is particularly strong in his upper body and arms, and is particularly handy with an axe. Because tracker-jackers sometimes form hives in the trees intended for chopping down, he has developed quite a reputation for creating and maintaining traps to prevent them from becoming a nuisance.

(Hope this looks okay! Sorry it took me forever, had to do some quick research )

It's fine! Let's start in the Districts))
Lily stared blankly at the ceiling of her room, dreading the morning. She had laid like this for hours, praying to some god that she and her siblings would not go into the games. She had been lucky for 3 years- why would she get picked now? 3 years and it would be over. She'd never go in the games. The bad thing was, this year was a Quarter Quell. This meant a twist on the games; she really didn't want to go in this games.

Zack bounced a crooked rubber ball against the wall of his room, trying not to think of what would happen in the morning. The Quarter Quell. The districts had been preparing for weeks and the Capitol was always spamming their TVs with news alerts about the arena's progress or some new designer or other such nonsense. He sighed and squeezed the ball in his hands, trying to quell his nervous energy. He had a weird feeling about this one...

He sighed and squeezed the ball in his hands, trying to quell his nervous energy. He had a weird feeling about this one... Lily closed her eyes in an attempt to sleep, but found she could hear every tiny creak of the house, every gust of wind. She sighed and rolled over discontentedly. She must have fallen asleep at some point, because by the time she woke up, it was dawn. She sat up sharply. Reaping. Quarter Quell. She staggered out of bed to get ready. She should have done what she did last year- deliberately injured herself. She'd been bed ridden for three weeks after breaking her leg, but it was worth it. It had meant she hadn't had to attend the Reaping, and therefore she couldn't end up in the Games. The thought hadn't crossed her mind this year- all she had was hope.

"Citizens of District 7, the time has come for the Preliminary Announcements of the Quarter Quell! The proceedings will take place in the Square and all are invited to attend!" Zack sighed and moodily pushed himself off his bed, tossing his ball in a corner. The announcement sounded friendly enough, but any who were not present at the Reaping were liable to be punished in some way. He wasted a few minutes changing his clothes to something suitable for the "big occasion" then wandered outside slowly, approaching the unusually busy Square with an air of caution. So many Peace-keepers...it put him on edge and made him clench his hands together tightly. Finding the line for the eligible males of District 7, he found a spot in the back and waited for the nerve-racking drawing to begin.

So many Peace-keepers...it put him on edge and made him clench his hands together tightly. Finding the line for the eligible males of District 7, he found a spot in the back and waited for the nerve-racking drawing to begin. "War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed that, each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future."After the Capitol announcement was over, the screens went live to the Capitol. It panned over President Snow's mansion, then zoomed in quickly to show him standing on a balcony. " Attention, Districts," boomed his voice. Lily rolled her eyes and President Snow continued. " As it is a Quarter Quell, I must draw out the special, how do I put this... Twist." His eyes glinted dangerously. " This year, to recognise the fact that for every Capitol Citizen who died, two Rebels fell, there will be twice the number of Tributes." Lily felt shocked. Now there was twice the chance of her getting picked. " However," said President Snow, " There will also be twice the number of winners this year."

Zack widened his eyes, feeling his heart begin to accelerate once the meaning of President Snow's words had sunk in. Normally there were 24 tributes but now...48?! He searched the faces of all around him, feeling angry at the scared but carefully blank expressions of acceptance. This was madness. Absolute madness.
"Alrighty folks!" The "recruiter" for District 7, a strange woman with teal skin and electric blue hair called Giddy, practically bounced up to the two glass bowls that held the names of all the eligible kids present. "Girls first! Drumroll please, as the first tribute from District 7 is...Vicky Donal!"
Zack couldn't help but stare as a young girl, probably one of the youngest there, was pushed up onto the platform kicking and screaming pitifully. A couple Peacekeepers quickly and efficiently pinioned her arms behind her back and held her tightly between them while Giddy continued on to the next bowl as if nothing had happened. Another wave of rage washed over Zack as he saw firsthand how insensitive and cruel these people were. This poor girl was expendable in their eyes, unfit for a happy life. It was sickening. Another girl and a boy were chosen, neither of which Zack knew. Still, every time a tribute was chosen a huge wave of relief rolled through the crowd that they're children were not among the ones doomed to die.
"Okiedokie! The fourth tribute of District 7 is...

Lily watched as a girl of around 14 was ushered up to the stage. The fear in her eyes was visble, but her face was set. " Now, the second Tribute is... Milly Windsor!" Lily gasped and, before the young girl of 12 could be pushed out of her pace in the crowd, she shouted, "I volunteer as Tribute!" She would not stand by and watch her sister go into these Games. ((This will be different to the real HGs. Haymitch isn't going to exist in this.))
