"This is quite obviously, the main enterance to the castle. It is the most frequented enterance and exit of the castle, so there are normally guards here and some held elsewhere in case of an attack. The heavy doors do have a locking mechanism, so once they are shut, that's it. Until the guards rework it and it can open again." Joshua always thought that it was a nuisance to redo the locks. But unfortunately it was all part of training. "You'll learn how to do that in training." He added on, figuring it was important to know what exactly he was learning and exercising for the next month and a half. Joshua would have liked to learn beforehand but his father decided against it, saying it would 'build character'. It didn't.

(It's all good ) Erin followed along and nodded as he spoke about the locking mechanism and how usually the guards would post up there. It was common sense obviously but he kept his mouth shut while Joshua explained how things were going to work. "Got it" he responded once he finished explaining before he looked over the gate and it's surroundings one last time

"Moving on then." Joshua nodded when Erin seemed to have an understanding. It certainly wasn't difficult, so hopefully this tour wouldn't be long. He motioned to the front of them as to guide Erin's attention there. "In front of us is the throne room. You've already been here though, so I hope you know how to navigate it from your room." He turned to the right hallway, branching off from the main entrance and throne room. He turned right again and they came to the first guard tower. "This is one of the guard towers. Two guards sleep in that room there, the armory is in front of us, and the stair case that leads up to the top of the tower is diagonal from us. You will probably be moved in here, since we just moved the two guards from here out last night."
Here's the layout of the castle so you can follow along:

Erin nodded as he looked at the throne room, he remembered it quite well honestly. It was the only thing he did remember. He followed close behind until they reached the guard tower, he took a good look at it doing his best to temember how it was off the first look. "Okay" he responded with a nod, he figured he'd be sleeping in different places so that wasn't a surprise.

"just north of us is the banquet hall." Joshua made his way over there, through the double doors and in front of the both of them was three long tables. The room looked much bigger though considering the tall ceilings and tapestries that the room had. The tables were made of very fine wood, and carving of the country's tales and folklore decorated the backs of chairs as well as the tapestries on the walls. The tapestry thay stuck out the most was the one of the current royal family. The king and queen were standing behind their children who were seated on chairs. Alice was in between Irving and Joshua, holding Fletcher who was a baby at the time. Although the artist asked if they wanted a more updated tapestry, King Merek decided against it. "The royal family and nobles sit at the last table over there." It was sort of obvious, considering the chairs were much more decorated and intricate on that table versus the others.

"Banquet hall..." Erin repeated to himself quietly as he followed, as he got into the room his eyes widened slightly. He'd never seen a room as big as that one, or as beautiful. He walked along one of the tables looking at the backs of the chairs as he passed them before stopping to take a good look around. He looked up at the tapestry with a smile. It was very well done and definitely from some time ago. He turned to Joshua after finishing his little walkabout to check the room out "where to next?" He asked curiously

Joshua thought for a few moments before responding. He held a hand to his chin as he thought, "I suppose the ballroom would be our next stop. The only other thing here is the barraks, which you may stay in depending whether or not you are a perimter guard. Everything else on this floor isn't within your field. Unless you want to be a servant for one reason or another." There were also some bedrooms down here as well, but those were for some of the dukes and dutchesses. The higher ranking people such as the royal family were on the third floor. He used another exit from the banquet hall rather than the one closer to the kitchens that he had used. This was to get him familiar with the exits and enterances. He doubled back to the main enterance again and this time used the left hallway. He went up a small flight of stairs before arriving at the ballroom. It was grand to say the least. With marble floors, marble columns to hold up the ceilings. The ceiling in for were decorated with paintings of angels and such, almost like a cathedral would be. There was a few balconies that could be accessed from a curved stair case in the corner to look down into the ballroom or make grand enterances. "This is the ballroom. If you work strictly indoors you will be watching over things from either in here or elsewhere in the castle during events."

(I feel bad for my posts being significantly shorter than yours :') )
Erin noted the exits and doorways they passed and went through on the way to the ball room, there were many so he definitely wouldn't remember all of them just yet. As he got to the top of the stairs he looked around at the marble floors and columns and then up to the well done artwork on the ceiling. It was very nice to look at so he took some time just observing it, until he realized he had probably took too much time looking so he shook his head and looked to Joshua and nodded. Although it might have looked like he wasn't paying attention he had caught every word the man had said.

{Aw don't feel that way lol, it's fine. I'm just in a writing mood today.}
Joshua couldn't help but give a small smile when he saw Erin so mesmerized by things Joshua saw every day. But he supposed it made sense. Erin has most likely never lived in a castle before, let alone been inside of one. "Moving along then." He figured those were the most important things for hiking to see on this floor for now, and it would probably be best to see the stables, archery ranges, and everything else to do with the guards of the castle. So that's where they went. He took him a ways away from the castle, and out into the more open plains and hills that made up the landscape. On a very flat area, there were several buildings, some larger than others. "This is the training grounds." Joshua spoke as they walked. "We have stables, as all men part of the army are required to learn how to ride a horse and perform set skills while on horseback. There is also an archery range, sword fighting areas - indoors as well as outdoors, and more you learn about while you're here. Tomorrow you will start to know you're way around this place. It's a lot smaller than the palace.

(I have such bad writers block today it feels terrible)
Erin walked looking up at the sky as they made their way, even being stuck inside for the small amount of time he was during the trial period made it feel like he hadn't properly been outside in too long. "I've never ridden a horse, that should be a learning experience." He said with a chuckle "but I'll learn as fast as possible" he added after a moment as his gaze fell over the buildings. It would take time for him to remember where everything was wxactly and how to go through the places on his own. "When should I be ready by tomorrow?" He then asked referring to the training, which in an odd way he was excited about, he always wanted to learn to fight properly and learning to be a guard would definitely be the best way of going about it.

Joshua noted his enthusiasm, which sounded promising. Hopefully he was still up for it after week three. That's when most people start to drag their feet. At his question Joshua was paying attention again, rather than watching the other recruits. "Just before the sun can be seen is when you should be ready. Training ends just before the sun sets. A solid twelve hours or so." Hopefully that was clear enough, he hated to repeat himself.

"Okay, I understand." Erin responded with a tone of excitement in his voice, though he knew things wouldn't be super fun he would be glad to go through it. It wasn't like his will would be broken so quickly anymore, definitely not after what he'd been through now. "Would I be able to loom inside?" He then asked Joshua, hoping maybe he could get an idea of the things he would be working on for the month or so to come.

free time I suppose, it gives Alice plenty of time to fret about them 'working Erin too hard' on the first day even if it's just a tour

{why thank you! Erin was really adorable when he was reacting to Alice's compliments and trying to argue that he loves her more }
Alice had bee lined to her room after Erin left with Joshua to do whatever they were going to do first. Which was what worried her: she didn't know what they were doing. She could only worry about them pushing him too hard after him being whipped yesterday. Surely he was sore still. And to push him to do strenuous physical activity would only make him feel even worse. But now he would have to be on his break, she had managed to get a schedule for what his unit was doing and now was finally his free time. She had been wanting to check on him every minute he was away from her. Alice had been pacing Erin's room for the past few minutes, waiting for him to come through the door, and once he did, she practically jumped into his arms. "Are you okay?" She asked, her chin resting on his shoulder, with her hand on the back of his head to hold him close to her.

(Well he's super stingy and I'm pretty certain he would think he loved her more at any point xD)
Erin felt glad the day so far wasn't anywhere near as exhausting as he thought it would be. Actually it was the opposite of what he thought, just walking around the castle and learning the layout was probably the easiest thing he could have done. As he walked in the door he was taking off his coat but stopped with one arm still throught the sleeve when Alice practically tackled him. "I'm fine don't worry" he responded to her with a smile before kissing her forehead "and how are you doing, mrs Alice Taylor? the most important princess in the world" he asked teasingly as he wrapped his arms around her lightly

{I bet Erin would do anything to prove he I lol, poor Erin}
Alice didn't let go of Erin just yet, even if he was still holding his coat. She could put that up for him later. She chuckled again his words and blushed lightly. "I'm not a 'Mrs.' yet. If I were to be, I would rather you call me Mrs. Alice Xenos." She grinned and got on her toes to kiss his cheek, nose, and chin. "What did they have you do today? I'm glad to hear they didn't work you too hard." She started to move away from him a little and grabbed his coat out of his hand, so it wouldn't be a burden to him. "Would you like me to put your coat away?" She asked, looking at him earnestly. She wanted to be more useful than just worrying about Erin all day and night.

(I love using Erin for that reason honestly, he's super persistant and I love it)
Erin rolled his eyes at her and laughed lightly "well I could call you that instead, if you'd preffer it" he replied with a cheeky grin on his face "please do" he then said reffering to his coat before going to his bed and sprawling out across hit and letting out a huge sarcastic sigh "they made me move the heaviest boxes and tables and chairs around" he said with a joking sniffle afterwards "I guess it was kinda just a tour of the castle" he then said and yawned lightly "it wasn't bad at all, I found out where I'll probably be posted up and where I'll be doing my training, do you know what that's supposed to be like? Your brother said it would be like hell so I'm curious" he spoke almost excitedly, like he was more than eager to begin his training but in reality he wasn't at all excited. He just wanted to learn how to do his job as soon as possible.

Alice moved to the opposite side of the room from Erin's bed and put his coat away in the closet. She turned around and walked to Erin's bed and sat down on the floor beside him. "Oh Joshua..." she let out a sigh as she rested her chin on the mattress. "I'm not sure what it's like. My buisness is not in the army or guard duties. Well, now that you're there, I might have to make it my buisness." At hearing Joshua's description, she wasn't sure whether or not to be afraid for Erin. He could be just trying to scare him, or Joshua was telling the truth. If he was telling the truth, then Alice had all the reason in the world to worry. "Do you think that you'll be okay? I'll say something if you need me to." Alice could attempt in lessening the he intensity of his training by brining up his medical condition. His leg was just scarring over, and may cause him pain.

(Honestly I feel like I have as well. I get pretty attached to my characters and he's always been my favourite one lol)
Erin sat up and looked down at her with a smile "I know you might get mad at me for saying it but honestly I think I'll be okay. I've been through a lot of tough spots so this shouldn't be too bad" he said to her and tilted his head a bit "you're so cute when you worry" he then said down to her with a smile "but I'm glad you do, I need someone to worry for me every now and then" he got off the bed and leaned himself on her, but very lightly considering he was quite a lot bigger than her. "I love you Alice" he said contently before looking over at her
