Beckett nodded his thanks as he walked past Jonah into the store, sending a quick glance over at the half-dead employee. He crossed his arms over his chest, seeming to fall into himself again with the presence of the stranger. He turned toward Jonah and waited for the teen to take a lead toward any of the aisles of food. "Well, you never know... Maybe with a snap of his fingers he can repair yours." Bec offered with a very slight shrug, one that would've gone unnoticeable had he been wearing his old winter jacket. With the lighter green one he was wearing now, Bec's movements were visible to everyone, which he tried not to think about. All it did was made him want to move even less, to be the least interesting or attention attracting he could be. As he talked Bec kept his eyes low toward the ground but occasionally glanced over at the aisles, wondering what kind of food there was. He didn't go to a ton of stores, basically because it was one of his worst nightmares that happened constantly. The only times Bry or his dad had ever managed to get him to go to any of them was if it was extremely late at night where there was certain to be little to no people. Even so, the worker bothered Bec as they stood there. There was a chance he might talk to them, or look at them, or lastly be a monster. One could never know. Bec wondered how long they were going to be there, and he tried to calm his nerves by reminding himself the store wasn't very big. There was no way they'd spend an eternity in there, not like that old witch lady's store. On that thought, Bec felt slightly more comfortable here with Jonah and the comatose worker than the crazy lady warehouse. Unconsciously, he nervously rubbed his arm and waited for Jay. (I'm excited about your idea because I didn't really know how to end this rp!) Jonah grunted in an "okay but I doubt it" sort of way, leaving Beckett to his own devices momentarily while he drifted to one of the refrigerators, grabbing himself an energy drink*. He turned, hesitated, then snatched up a bag of pretzels for Bec when it seemed like he wasn't about to make a move to get them himself. And Beckett's awkward body language didn't escape him, for once. Jonah really should have known Beckett wouldn't be comfortable here, given his known history of avoiding stores and other crowded places as if they would kill him. As he went up to pay with a drachma he knew would be disguised by Mist, Jonah found himself concerned and deeply annoyed, which seemed to be his default emotional cocktail when it came to Beckett Lancaster. The cashier may have mumbled something but Jonah didn't reply, staring at the pretzels with a clenched jaw. He felt a jolt of frustration when tried to pinpoint why he always seemed to feel this way. Jonah couldn't probe deeper because the cashier was giving him some change and he needed to come back to reality. Stuffing money in his pocket and grabbing the snacks, Jonah took a deep, almost steeling breath before turning to face Beckett. They had a good moment going right now, Jonah wasn't going to ruin it by being an αss. He grinned, tossed the pretzels to Beckett and headed for the exit. "That wasn't hard, right?" hey blade and min!
so..... i gotta be honest. it's the end of july and the odds of us finishing this prophecy are. close to zero. me and ice have been talking and we totally 100% get that life is especially busy with work/college/jobs/whatever. the only reason im not very busy myself right now is bc of a collection of very odd circumstances. so we're not mad and if you guys aren't able to make it on enough to finish it, and all you have to do is say so.
frankly we've been working on this thing for a long time, and if we couldn't get it done during our peak availability, how will we now? it's better to admit defeat than be waiting around and leaving a bunch of hanging rps. i have some things i want to establish, write down, and tell you all about if we're never actually going to get to j's betrayal and the final battle.
i dont know, nova aevum's slow death is upsetting but kinda inevitable? there are only four of us here after all, it's not like you can lose a few members but still keep it going
so, uh, let us know! so we can... do stuff!

I agree with Brook, guys. The rp can't go on if there's only two of us that are on.
And it's completely fine we just need to admit when things are at an end.
Like Brook said, we can write down things that are important for the end, even if they aren't rped.

I get it - I definitely don't like getting the short end of the stick when it comes to hanging rps either! And we have been dragging the quest out for a long time, I think what you've been talking about and asking for is definitely fair, but I still very badly want to rp bry dying, Jonah's betrayal, and the final battle. I guess we can see how far we get this summer then reevaluate how we want to handle the ending when September rolls along? If y'all agree?
I know my track record this summer doesn't really speak to it, but I really love the characters we've created and the stories we make together!!! I'm committed to sticking around nova aevum, so don't worry about me packing up and leaving NA to a slow death anytime soon.
On that note ... I'm down to rp? I have like. Mostly all people open?

(also ice I probably remeber that scene about as well as you do? Jonah kinda voices his worries about the quest and keeping everyone safe, I think??)

no one's doubting all our commitment to the characters + world, but like.... i think september and a lot of next year is gonna be a Bad Time for nova aevum activity. i mean, ice says she's barely gonna be here and she's the backbone of this society
i'd like to rp some camp stuff, with either tristan or clarie. to get across how dire things are, at least

Beckett watched as Jonah walked over to the refrigerated section, grabbing an energy drink and a bag of pretzels. Huh. Bec thought, not pegging Jay for a pretzel type of guy, at least not the crisps kind; he seemed more like a soft pretzel. He followed in close proximity to Jonah, but made sure not to stand too close least he make Jonah uncomfortable- the guy already looked disgruntled. Bec didn't want to make it worse, if he could help it.
He wasn't expecting Jonah to turn around and hand him the bag of pretzels. Well, more like throw, but it was still nice. Bec couldn't remember a time when he had said that he liked pretzels, and it wasn't like he bought any himself. Talking to the cashier would've been too much for him, and he'd rather go hungry than deal with it.
"Thanks." Bec said to Jonah as he hurried after, not wanting to be left behind in the store. He opened the bag and held it out for Jay to take some, walking alongside him.
After a few minutes, Bec halted, rather abruptly, and turned toward Jonah. A serious look took over his face and he restlessly rubbed the back of his neck, looking down at the ground for most of the time before back at Jonah.
"Uh, I have something to tell you. It's about... A while ago. Um, when we- the group, I mean-" His voice was still rather quiet despite the lack of people around them. "When we were still in New York, you were out in the woods, talking, and what you didn't know was that I was there too... And, uh.." Beckett glanced away multiple times as he spoke, folding his arms over his chest then letting them hanging at his side repeatedly, his behavior dripping of his uncomfortable nature.
"I mean it's not like you could've known, it's not your fault," Beckett continued, trying to find the right words. He squeezed his eyes shut, as if that would help him. "What I'm trying to say is... I know how you feel about this trip. And... It's okay. You don't need to feel like, everything's on your back, 'cause it's not. It's on everyone's and I..."
He stopped talking for a few moments, digging his foot into the ground. "I don't know what I'm trying to say." He mumbled with a slow exhale. "I guess? I understand, and I'm here for you." He folded his arms again."We all are!" Bec added quickly, gesturing to nothing with his hand. His face was flushed.

Tristan was sitting cross-legged outside his cabin. It was an awkward look for a very tall, lanky eighteen year old, but it was comfortable. He spent a lot of time in the courtyard these days, where he was easily accessible and could leap into action in seconds. His bow and his bag, full of medical supplies and other odds and ends, rested beside him. He spent the rest of his time patrolling and having arguments with other head counsellors about defense strategies. In comparison, this wasn't so bad, even if the sun was beating down on him with ferocity.
He wiped the sweat off his brow and absently traced the shape of the stitches along his jaw. Waverly had already been annoyed at him for messing with them, but was a demigod - he had to fiddle with something. He took some satisfaction in knowing the hellhound who'd gotten the jump on him was a pile of dust now. Court had been the one to take it down, of course. It'd be replaced by another hound tomorrow, though. The waves of monsters were relentless. It seemed like Khaos had a sadistic streak.
He sighed. How long had it been since he'd watched a movie? Or spent time with Courtney and Andrew while not also fending off the Underworld's denizens? He didn't like to complain, but man.
