im trying to write a postcard
what's the line down the middle?? can you write over it? are the sections divided for an important reason? can i just not add an address and stuff if its going to be on the envelope?? he l p

The line down the middle is so you can write on one side, and then address it on the other. Postcards typically don't go in envelopes, but if you're putting it in one, there's no reason you couldn't just write on both sides.
