Welcome to The Warren
You are a rabbit. You are wandering through a grassy meadow, searching for cover from elil (predators). You're exhausted, and all you want to do is sleep. A hawk circles overhead, which causes you to panic. You need shelter now. You dive into a clump of tall grass and shake in fear, hoping that the hawk won't find you. You notice another rabbit hiding in the grass with you. This rabbit is sandy in color, with blue eyes (not going for realism here). "Don't move." She whispers in your ear. You freeze, and wait. After a while the rabbit peeks out of the grass and tells you, "The hawk is gone. If you're looking for a place to stay, follow me." She hops into the open and heads up a nearby hill. You follow her, desperate for a place to sleep. At the top of the hill, she turns around and positions herself on her hind legs. "My name is Flax, but these rabbits here call me Flax-rah." she says, as you can see other rabbits emerging from holes in the ground and gazing at this newcomer. "I am chief of this warren. You can stay with us, and even join us if you wish. There is plenty of grass to go around."
Here we roleplay rabbits! This is a roleplay inspired by the book Watership Down by Richard Adams (RIP), a story about a group of rabbits and their journey to create a new warren and survive. The main difference in this roleplay is that your character doesn't have to be realistic (for example, Flax has blue eyes). This roleplay will include some extra vocabulary from Watership Down, a sort of language made up for the rabbits. Don't be intimidated, as it's not difficult to understand and you aren't required to use it in the roleplay.
The Land
The Warren lies on top of a hill, surrounded by a meadow. The Warren consists of various holes in the ground, around a cluster of beech trees. These holes tunnel deep into the ground, and the rabbits create more branches as necessary. Many flowers grow around the meadow, which the rabbits treat as a delicacy.
Towards the south, the meadow stretches some distance away, with a forest visible in the distance. A farm lies to the northwest, with a vegetable garden.
The Burrow
The main entrance is at the base of a beech tree, and is considerably larger than the surrounding holes. It opens up to a large room under the beech tree roots, this is known as the Honeycomb. The Honeycomb's space is partially broken up by tree roots. Other burrows branch off from this room, leading to chambers deeper underground. Individual rabbits or families choose which burrow to sleep in, and during the mating season many pregnant does will dig their own burrows. There are a number of holes surrounding the main entrance, that lead to various burrows.
Let's Talk About Some Rules
1) The Obvious Stuff.
You know all of this: follow the forum rules, no god-modding/powerplaying, nothing graphic, all of that. I'm not gonna waste your time with this but if you need elaboration let me know. Just be a decent person. (Also, "skip" for that graphic stuff)
2) Let's Play Fair, Aight?
Of course no god-modding and powerplaying. Your characters can get into fights but it needs to be fair, got it? Work this stuff out with the other person; decide beforehand who's going to win. I personally hate internet conflict and try to avoid fights as often as possible, but your characters can fight as long as it's done responsibly. One more thing to add to this rule is to be inclusive of others when roleplaying. Nobody wants to be that guy talking to a wall.
3) Let's Get CREATIVE
I'm not really worried about realism here. As you could see from the intro, one of my rabbits has blue eyes. Wild rabbits can be kinda difficult to tell apart, so I'm letting you guys pretty much do what you want in terms of fur and eye color. That being said, don't make your characters too over the top. If you want to roleplay a non-rabbit character take that up with me and we'll see.
4) Spotlighting
Your characters don't need to be the center of attention all the time. If you want something big to happen talk to me about it.
5) Activity
I know you guys have busy lives and you see this rule all the time. Still, I will delete you from the roleplay if you aren't active. Especially since this rp is new, I'd say be here at least once every 2 or 3 days. If a couple weeks go by and I don't see your lovely face (figuratively speaking) you will be deleted. I may or may not warn you. Don't join if you can't be somewhat active. If we get a decent amount of members I may change this rule to be more lenient.
6) Literacy
I don't expect you guys to be English professors. Heck, I don't even care if you use text talk. But make your posts readable PLEASE. Nobody is a grammar genius but just have enough skill that we can understand what you're saying.
7) LGBT is Cool With Me
Pretty self explanatory. And let's be nice about it, it's 2017 yall.
If you got this far in the rules add Bigwig to your joining form.
The Ranks
In this roleplay the roles go like this: (Some of these deviate from the book)
Chief Rabbit - Head honcho, the rabbit who makes the big decisions and is responsible for the warren's morale during tough times. The other rabbits place a -rah honorific after the chief's name when referring to him/her.
The Owsla - A council of rabbits picked by the chief. They can help the chief with decisions, but otherwise they aren't much different from the other rabbits besides their title. One of the Owsla is picked as Successor.
Successor - The rabbit chosen to become the next chief if the current chief dies or retires. The chief chooses.
Everyone Else - Self explanatory. "Mothers" are does that are either pregnant or raising a litter.
