Following a shady figure wasn't something that Aleks was unfamiliar with, although not knowing who he was following made him uneasy. Because of this, he intentionally lagged behind his guide. He had his doubts, and where he was from, those doubts easily could become a reality: Follow some shady looking guy, and suddenly you lack all of your valuable possessions, and possibly some blood.
He cautiously worked the way through the networks of tunnels, and eventually slowed to a stop where the corridor seemed to open. The first thing that he noticed was the people, and there were a lot that were seemingly lead along on this possibly-death-inducing scavenger hunt. He scanned the area momentarily while absentmindedly wiping his hands on his black jeans. The second thing that he put together was that the only way "forward" was up a ladder in the room.
Everyone else seemingly had arrived as recently as he as far as he was aware, and he sure wasn't the one willing to climb that ladder first. He preferred it that if this was a death trap, he wasn't going to be the one to find out. He maintained his position nearby the entrance of the tunnel back home, in case the poop hit the fan.
(It's been a while, friends :^))

"Oh dear, what have I gotten myself into? Is this some illumanati, a cult, secret society?" The snarky, judgemental, almost condescending voice made an appearance before it's owner even stepped out of the shadows.
Kaleb Gray had not originally planned on coming.
I mean who wouldn't be a tiny bit suspicious of a taro card appearing at their doorstep one day. It was totally sketchy, in Kaleb's opinion. He had initially tossed it on the already crowded kitchen countertop. There were stacks of bills, letters, magazines, and newspapers covering almost every inch. The Gray's hadn't gone through the mess in over a year, they just let it pile up. Once something was tossed there, it was long gone. Then, Kaleb had receded to his room. He was looking for a new job, a new way to pay the overdue bills and support himself- and his mom. His mom had gone aloof as soon as his father died. There was a period of time were she was a lot better, a lot happier, but now she was getting depressed- her mental state was deteriorating right in front of his eyes (and Kaleb had no idea why, his father died 11 years ago).
Then a flip switched, late at night. His mom. She needed help, but they couldn't afford it. Whatever this taro card offered, Kaleb was now hopeful that it could be a chance for a better life for the two of them. Probably not, but maybe. He grabbed his leather jacket and then scoured through Mess Mountain. Surprisingly he found it, and he took that as a sign from the universe (he wouldn't admit that to anyone- that's lame).
It wasn't too hard to get out of the Kingdom of Spades, everything was pretty relaxed including security. He stood in the shadows for a moment, just because he was hopeful didn't mean he wasn't still skeptical. The first thing he saw was a hooded figure, which attested to aforementioned sketchiness. I mean stranger danger, hooded stranger equals Even More Danger. Then he saw someone he recognized at least a little bit, another Spades, and he decided he would stay.
They were led through a secret door, and then through a series of underground tunnels. Kaleb coudn't help but feel a little curious, a little intrigued. He felt a smile tugging at his lips, but his facial expression remained the same- cold, cynical, and disinterested (Kaleb would not grant the hooded figure the satisfaction of knowing he was actually interested.) Then, they arrived at what appeared to be the end. The last secret door. Before anyone else could do anything, Kaleb rushed to open it himself. At the other side of the door were many unfamiliar faces, no doubt from other kingdoms, and a ladder.
He took a step in. A step to his possible doom.

... βͺ Trickeling in one-by-one were the other Kingdoms, where they all met to mingle in the chamber that connected four tunnels where in the center they found a ladder. Nobody appeared to be climbing first, and none were trying to converse either. What kind of cult crowd was this supposed to be? The cloaked figures still weren't making any gestures forward or out another way, just standing right in front of their respective tunnels and for a short second Aecil reflected on how unfortunate it was that there were more than one mysterious figure leading what appeared to be grouped misfits of young adults through the underground.
"Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm feeling pretty claustrophobic," Aecil announced, throwing her hands up and walking away from her group of Hearts towards the ladder. "If anyone knows something I don't and wants to stop me, do so now," she continued with one hand on the bar before putting her card between her teeth and beginning to climb, using her well-built strength to push open the trap-door on the ceiling and breathed in the air that didn't smell so dank and empty. There was a grunt to heave the giant squared-plank upright so it could plummet to the ground on the other side before she scrambled out to let anybody else up if they had happened to follow her.

(Shadowww nice to see youuu & ah, you're good Pattern! There is no judging in this rp )
Moka had turned her head once she heard more noises coming in through another tunnel. Judging by the way they dressed, she could only assume they were from the Spade Kingdom. She raised a brow to show the small dose of curiosity toward the pair, silently looking them over since this was the first time she'd seen other Spades. Of course, her school possibly had a few but she paid no attention to them. She wouldn't blame them if they judged her as well by first glance. Her flashy dress almost seemed to give off a horrible first impression on its own, let alone her obvious birthmark that made her fall into her kingdom's stereotype. After a few moments of silence, she nodded toward the two of them with what she hoped was a semi-friendly smile. One of the girls that had come with her began to climb the ladder and she watched in awe at her act of courage. "I guess I'll follow her," she said while taking another step toward the ladder. She stared at it for a flash of a second before climbing up the ladder determinedly while putting on her best brave face. Whatever this door would lead to, she'd just have to trust these other strangers to back her up and get them out of this mess.
Once she reached the top of the ladder, Moka pushed herself up and walked over to a door illuminated in dim yet enchanting lights. She reached her hand out to touch the knob but faltered and paused to take a deep breath. Her hand had slowly slipped away from the knob as she did this, but after exhaling she turned the knob and opened the door hesitantly. The figure she found pacing the room looked.. well.. yeesh. Hopefully her appearance wouldn't rub off on her intelligence, which Moka hoped she contained an abundant amount of. "Hello, I'm Moka," she said with a small smile and a bow. "According to this card I must be the taro Queen of Hearts. And you are?.."

{OKAY SO. Just to clarify for y'all who didn't quite grasp it fully {{Which is not a problem}}, the MAD base is inbetween all the kingdoms, near the kingdom-less. It takes underground tunnels to get there, and at the moment, Lumi is standing outside the base. There is no door, just a trap door, which is a door in the ground put there in secret so that they can go to and from the kingdoms. So, I'm gonna go as if everyone jumped out of the trap door. So we are now outside. Okay? <3}
Lumi watched as the first couple of people- Well, girls, who exited the underground tunnels were those of the Hearts kingdom. She remembered them quite well: Aecil Vaughan and Moka Houffset. In fact, Lumi knew them all decently well. Not from a personally level, but she had chosen them for their roles, anyways. Yet, she didn't want to totally scare them away, so she wouldn't relay that information until after they were all settled down and comfortable. She didn't step forward to lend them a hand to get people up, but that was only for the reason she wanted to know if they could really handle themselves. Having a secret community, well... It wasn't easy.
She watched with an amused expression as Moka, soon to be nicknamed by yours truly, approached her. And she acted just as she would presume a Hearts to act; All prime and proper, though she did expect her to be a bit angry about having to treck all the way here. Nonetheless, when the girl bowed, Lumi just raised a curious eyebrow, snickering softly as if she was, well... Enjoying this, "No need for the bow, kiddo. We're all equals here." She said with her signature grin before resting her hands on her hips, "As for me, I'll get to explaining myself in a couple moments so I don't have to repeat it, like... 11 times, but let's just say you're in the right place." she said, turning her gaze towards the doors again.
She would like to introduce herself, but Lumi wanted to establish who she was in front of all of them. Let them know she was their friend, but she was also their leader, and that a little respect was going to be needed. Not saying Moka was disrespecting her, of course, "Come on, slowpokes. We don't have all night!" Lumi called out, but then let out a small 'pfft' just a moment after, rolling her eyes as if sharing an inside with, well, herself, Which is a lie, because we do. She intended to allow them to stay at the base overnight if they'd like, or head home. But once each of the roles stepped into the building, well... There was no turning back.

Aleksandr's suspicion faltered after hearing a voice coming from the surface. As long as people weren't going to get killed, he could hold his own. He pulled himself up onto the ladder, scaling it until his head was poking out above ground. After quickly swiveling his head back and forth a few times, he completely emerged from the depths of the tunnels. Standing above ground now, he took a few more moments to scan his surroundings, before nodding and muttering to himself, "Nevermind, still might die." Standing before him and the others that were 'chosen' was some girl, the one that he assumed spawned this gathering. Aleks tucked his hands in his pockets, and spread a little ways away from the others. He didn't feel comfortable in the midst of a group of many people, in fear for pickpockets. At this point, it's become nature to him. Besides, it takes one to know one.

... βͺ Everything was so suspicious, but it was fitting. The strange cards with the directions to come here at this very moment with a gathering of others. Aecil though this meant she was special, but actually it was a bunch of them that were unique in their own way. It seemed to be that they were all necessary, and held their own skills, but for what purpose was still vague. The white-haired girl hadn't missed that Moka introduced herself as the Queen of Hearts by what she said her card had addressed. Taking her tarot card from her teeth, she observed it again. Alice of Hearts. Seemed fair, she was full of heart (in both a passionate and perhaps a little lusty sense) and from the Kingdom of its name. If Moka were the 'Queen' and she was addressed after the missing lady of recent legend, then what could Octavia be?
Whatever it was, this was intriguing more than appalling, and the outside of this lit-up building in the secret dead of night in such an elusive area was...different. Calming. Beautiful. Aecil could actually see the stars, which was something rare with all the factory smoke of her homeland. While she spun around to view the area in both caution and admiration, she noticed a young man further than the rest of the pack. She gave him a smug-look before trudging past the rest of the crowd that had emerged from the trapdoor and then stood with the same deer-in-headlights expressions. Aecil had led them uo and now she'd lead them over, but at least it wasn't against her character. She was always meant to be a leader in some wayβjust never knew how. The feelings she felt by picking everyone's direction to follow was a good one at least.
"You just want us all to stroll inside before you take to explaining what's going on here? There could be an ambush inside there," Aecil piped up when she approached the kooky-looking gal, before repeating the same 'pfft-ity' eye-roll she gave as mock prior to gesturing at the door for her to open it first with a raised eyebrow over the violet-colored eye that wasn't covered by the long stretch of silver-white bangs on one side of her face. With her usual attire of a red dress and white blazer with black bottoms and a multitude of accessories, she also had a large hat with a feather hanging at her back. There had been no use wearing it in the underground, but since her cap was the only real uppity article of clothing that screamed she was from the Kingdom of Hearts, Aecil reached behind her to detatch it from the strings at the back of her long jacket to place it atop her head, pulling it down with a pointed-look and another gesture towards Lumi to let them all inside at her willingness.

Arms crossed and leaning against the wall, Kaleb was pondering whether or not he should follow the others. They were all strangers to him, for all he knew they were all in on this secret plot to kidnap him or something crazy like that. Wait, why would anyone want to kidnap me? I'm a nobody. He thought to himself, but still he was suspicious, and his thick brows furrowed even more in thought.
A majority of the group had already gone up, he admired their courage (though again he wouldn't ever admit that). Plus, the voice that he had heard calling down from the trapdoor didn't seem menacing at all. He sighed and shook his head, whatever, he would just do it. He shoved the taro card with the strange character on it, into a pocket in his ragged leather jacket. Then, he made his way to the ladder. Climbing up in a light-footed, quick manner, true to his stealthy nature.
Before, completley exiting the ground. With only the upper half of his body visible, he scanned his surroundings. His eyes immediately focused in on a girl with a mischievous grin and beach blonde hair. Her appearance begged the attention, so bright and mismatched. Well, mostly it was the cloak that caught his eye- different fabrics and different colors, all pertaining to different kingdoms. Eyebrow raised, he voiced his thoughts, "Who might you be, little lady? The ring-leader I suppose." (Not that she was little, he just called every girl he met little lady). Having answering his question himself for the most part, he manuevered himself out of the ground with ease, and dusted off any dirt that had managed to cling to his clothing. Now his eyes were trained on the others, he could tell the girls were Hearts just by the way they dressed, their stance, their behaviors. His arms crossed again and his eyes fell on the "ring-leader" once more. Waiting. Now that his interest was hooked, a mischievous grin of his own was forming- more toothy, more wide, just like the cheshire cat.

[AHH So much readinggggg but I'm here. Darkfang βΎ: My heart is very big, so I can forgive you <3 (even though it was my fault for not refreshing on a different tab)]
Moka's raised brow had not shifted the slightest bit as she watched the others file in. This strangely dressed character had promised to speak their name soon, so she waited impatiently for every person to muster up the courage to climb up. "My feet hurt," she mumbled in protest with an annoyed expression. Once one of the boys she'd seen below in the tunnels opened his mouth to speak, she exhaled sharply. Do keep your mouth shut, she wanted to tell them all. This person was greatly outnumbered in case it was an ambush, but who knew what was lurking in the dark areas of the room. Judging by the sounds of everyone's voices, everyone had pretty much felt the same way she did-- maybe not as secretly excited as she was, but oh well --and supposedly meant something around here in this club. They all seemed to be standing together besides one of the boys, who she immediately wasn't too appreciative of. Spades were known for their ridiculous amounts of crime, and she wanted no part with them whatsoever.
Turning to Aecil, she whispered in her ear, "Can this get any more shady?" Although she did want everyone to stay silent and not screw with the lunatic figure in front of them in case it set them off, she admired her bravery. With a heart like that and her attire to match the look, she assumed that she could only be the Alice of Hearts. I guess we'll just have to see how everyone fares here, she thought to herself. It certainly would be entertaining to watch others struggle a bit before finding their way.
