Okay guys, the front page is probably going to stay outdated for a while because I have no wifi/computer access as of 9/8/17,
and won't for an unknown amount of time. Thank you for understanding.
A Note ~ We now have our own forum domain! Elements of Pagan Is a proboards website just like this, but less cats and more magic. c: Hope to see you there.
Hello, and welcome to The OTD Pagans Thread (TOPT). This is, of course a place for followers of Pagan belief to chat, share, and learn from one another.
It's not in any way exclusive to just followers of one or two things, however. Anyone is welcome to converse and learn from one another in a respectful manner. Even people questioning their beliefs, or simply wanting to know more about the many paths and about the people who chose Paganism as their way of life.
So what is Paganism?
The word pagan traditionally referred to a follower of any religion that was not one of the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, or Islam). Frequently this meant the followers of native Earth-based religions. Today, the term is used as a self-identification for people who seek to revive and live the old ways.
Paganism is just as diverse, if not far more so than it's Abrahamic counterpart. And today with new branches of Pagan belief still sprouting up, continues to grow and develop into many paths, and the revival of others, such as Wicca, Hinduism, Shamanism, Celtic polytheism, Asatru, Heathenism, Kemetcism, and many, many, many more.
Some Pagans do magic, some don't. Some are Polytheistic, and some are Monotheistic. Some may mix-and-match Gods and Goddesses of many religions. There are even Pagans who believe in angels. But most all pagans believe in three things.
1. Respecting the Earth and the things that dwell on it.
2. That we are here to teach and learn from one another.
3. We are following the path we were meant for and honoring our deities or ourselves.
RULES OF THE THREAD:
Forum rules are to be respected, as always. Read the Updated rules Here!
Questioning is always welcome. Making fun of someone for not knowing something or asking something to purposely fight about it is not.
Keep swearing to absolute bare minimum.
Fighting and ridicule won't be tolerated AT ALL.
Conversation is open, it doesn't always have to be about paganism. This is only a place to find friends.
If someone has a problem with a user or situation in the thread, bring it up with me or the mods.
Have a blessed day.
Leapkit - I'm an eclectic self-taught pagan who follows mostly Norse belief. I do divination and healing magic too with the use of crystals, astrology, and the futhark runes. My main deities are Thor, Baldr, Bast, Iris, Vesta, and now Loki. X
⭐ 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍-𝖖𝖚𝖊𝖊𝖓 - I am a former Wiccan and my personal pantheon consists of Aphrodite(my patron goddess), Quetzalcoatl, Hekate, Persephone, and Nyx. I am currently being mentored by the same Wiccan who has been mentoring me for four years. I practice magic with runes, incense, prayer, and tarot cards. I do free readings of simple yet specific questions. I am a sole practitioner. I'm the resident Hellenistic/Greco-Roman expert. X
qυeeɴ oғ ɢнoѕтlιɴɢѕ - I don't really know much cause I'm just starting out. I don't really specialize in anything cause I'm a novice with witchcraft and I'm a pagan with Amaterasu (main patron), Persephone, Psyche (both my other two patrons), Poseidon and Venus making up my pantheon. X
Sour Candy - Though I'm still extremely new to all of this, I mainly follow Norse belief. I've attempted to use magic (mostly healing) every now and then, sometimes with results and sometimes without. Though I am still learning about them, my main deities are Odin and Baldr. TOPT's official "Smol" mascot. <3 X
Dingoleap - Paganism is something I've followed for quite a while, but never have really pursued before recently. I practice mostly Wicca, but also feel an affinity to Louisiana Voodoo, which I am beginning to dabble in. I specialise mostly in healing magic using crystals and want to learn Tarot as well. I consider Bast to be my patron goddess, but hold a deep respect for other loa (spirits). X
~TopmødeFlyinglark~ - I'm personally a pantheist with quite a bit of influence from Nordic mythology, mostly the Vanir gods. X
Gojira - I'm an eclectic pagan and witch, although most of my Gods are from Egypt and I incorporate a lot of Kemeticism into my practice. My patrons are Sobek and Tiamat! I also follow/work with: Set/Sutekh/Seth, Djhuty/Thoth, Ra, the Bucca, Abraxas, and I have had some dealings with Bast and Quetzalcoatl as well. It's a lot, I know, but I didn't exactly ask for it. Although I live in my religion every day and have an unwavering belief in the gods, I find myself ebbing in and out of active practice. I've been on this path for around three years. X
21 Guns - I practiced Wicca for a while till my Aunt the Fairy Queen died when I was a Freshman. I lost contact with pretty much everything involving Wicca, magic and spirituality after that. Recently have been trying to get back into everything after finding a lot of my Aunts books on magic, spells and healing. I use to do a lot of herbal healing, I focus more on crystal healing now. X
mintedstar/fur🦇 - Mint considers herself knowledgeable in natural medicine and herbs, as well as having a great and varied interest in the different world mythologies and religions. Though she herself does not come under the dictionary definition of pagan she does believe in the power of the spirit. X
Brownie - While technically not a pagan from the dictionary definition, I do believe in different energies and auras and how they can impact the world. Because of this, I tend towards the use of stones and plants and started a good collection of both to help focus positive energies. X
Fflewfflew - Well a very brief overview, I'm mostly eclectic, very druidic in my beliefs although I worship some of the Wicca holidays. Apart from that I've been practicing for about four years. I did the Wiccan way of studying for a year and a day too. X
@victorious - I'm an agnostic, sort of wondering if I should go for paganism or not but scared of doing so, so I'm just going to stick with agnosticism for now. I like mythology, love the concept of magic and spells, and I'm interested in crystals and gems. X
sand dollar - I don't know much about paganism, but i wasn't raised with a religion and have so far considered myself to be agnostic. However, i find myself thinking of higher powers and have always been fascinated by the concept of crystal magic and tarot reading and would love to learn. I'm hoping to find a branch of pagan belief that really speaks to me. X
𝓣𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓿𝓲𝓮𝓵 - I'm interested in learning witchcraft, but I'm hesitant about actually practicing it. As for other interests, I also love to write and I'm a fan of gemology, astrology, history, as well as cartoons, anime, and occasionally comics. X
yukinosora - I currently don't consider myself by any religion really, and I'm really just going from belief to belief, not very sure what to think. In the past, I've been introduced to something of the pagan sort, I suppose. My grandmother always talks about how our family descends from druids. For a while in the past, I had some friends who are Wiccan. I was very interested in different sorts of magic and anything regarding the unknown, really. It's a very long story, so if anyone wants to hear about it, just ask. I'll be able to explain myself better. I'm more or less here to hear about everyone's beliefs and try to figure myself out in the process. X
@starflower - I consider myself more "sprirtual" than religious. I've come to learn about and appreciate many of the Buddhist ideologies from my yoga practices, and walks through nature. I believe in the deep connections we form with the earth and all of its plants/creatures. I'm also somewhat knowledgeable in Ancient Greek/Roman mythologies, and astrology. X
silvermoonblaze - I'm a huge nerd of all areas. I'm also a Wiccan who finds comfort in crystals and stars. X
We support and encourage healthy conversation and friendship with Christianland's thread. Anyone found harassing them for their beliefs will be removed hastily and without warning.
@burglar - The honorary Cohort for making the other layouts.
The Pagan holidays across most traditions and practices are known as being the days of the Equinoxes or Solstices, and known by several different names. Here, however, I will mention only the most popular and basic 8. Some paths have more, some have less, and some go by the same holiday under a different name. These are the most common you will hear about under Wicca and Eclectic Paganism.
Note that some of these links have more information than others, these were simply the best I could find for each. Suggestions for extra links are welcome.
