"Clean up after yourself and we'll talk after." Niq spoke softly, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder before standing up and stepping outside of her room. The barking had finally stopped from wherever in the house the dog had been. "Sorry about that." Niq mumbled as he closed the door of his sisters room behind him. He felt bad that their fun day at the park had been interrupted.

Isolde was leaning against the wall listening before sighing when Niq finally came out and closed the door. "It's fine," She replied quietly, even if something wasn't fine she'd always say it was. The skin shedding thing was unnerving since it had been accompanied by screaming and crying. Narrowing her eyes. "Do you think she's okay?"

Niq sighed and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes for a few moments, "She's probably really terrified because she never expected something like that." He eventually looked over at Isolde, "I've shifted in front of her so many times. She's used to see my way." Niq shook his head. He noticed Isolde was a little thrown off, but he didn't want to mention it. The whole situation had been like a horrific crime scene that they just happened to walk into. He was glad it was over.

Isolde slowly nodded, that sounded reasonable. Thankfully that wasn't something that had happened at her house growing up and shifting when you were young in her household was heavily cautioned against until you knew how to do little things. Like changing your eye color, color of your hair, etc. The little things. "I think I can understand that," Isolde shrugged, goosebumps reappearing on her arms. "She is a skin shedder." She commented as if it was completely bizarre even though she knew many shifters did it.

"First in the family." Niq acknowledged, pushing himself off the wall and starting to head down the hallway, "We should probably give her some space for awhile." He mentioned, deciding to go find the dog. He glanced back at Isolde before walking towards the kitchen. Niq whistled a specific tune; as soon as the notes left his lips, you could hear the dog running towards them.

Isolde once again nodded and followed Niq since he had a good point. His family had a dog? That seemed kind of odd, shifters she knew didn't normally have pets; especially dogs. Dogs had this odd way of being able to tell if you weren't a normal human and some even got aggressive. It was also odd because if you felt weirdly adventurous you could turn into one, animals had terrible manners though once.

The dog that headed towards them was a Neapolitan Mastiff, huge and terrifying looking. However, his looks didn't match his personality, especially because as soon as Niq kneeled down, the dog ran up and hugged the red-head. Well, what could be considered a hug. "Weird for us to have a dog, right?" He chuckled, ruffling the dogs ears before glancing back at Isolde. He knew the look; shifters didn't have pets. It was a rare occurrence, but it had never been intentional, "My parents are human, and they got Creature before everyone realized what I was," Niq explained, giving the dog one last pat before standing up next to Isolde, "He was just a puppy so he just grew up with me. Gained a tolerance, I guess." He gave a shrug as if it was completely normal. The dog, presumably named Creature, was very calm around Isolde, so Niq seemed to know what he was talking about.

When the dog finally came into her view Isolde completely froze, it was huge! And the size of it's jaws didn't help either. She had a history of having dogs become aggressive and had been attacked in the past, which entailed getting bitten; more then once. Without realizing it she took a step back away from the dog. The dog could be an absolute angel-which it appeared to be towards Niq- but Isolde would still freeze up and hold her breath, heck the dog didn't even seemed bothered by her but that changed nothing. "Is he friendly?" She almost squeaked in an incredibly uneasy voice.

Niq laughed as he took notice of Isolde's sudden fright, "His the nicest dog you'll ever meet. Promise." He smiled at her, watching the dog inch closer. Creature was doing that thing where he slowly walked up, silently asking for attention. "He just wants your love." Niq smirked, watching the two. He found it so entertaining when people got scared of his family's dog. Although, it was always pretty reasonable, considering his size. He definitely understood Isolde's hesitation as well; he was always weary around dogs.

Isolde took a deep breath as she stood her ground as the dog approached her, the color fading from her face. Trying to convince herself that it was a nice dog and that he wouldn't bite her. Hesitantly reaching out and patting Creature's head. Nope, nope, she couldn't do it; he was too big and his mouth was too close to her. Suddenly taking a step back as her hands curled up loosely quickly pulling them up against her chest and out of the dog's reach.

"Awhhhh, Isolde." Niq teased, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I'll put him outside for you." He chuckled, heading into the kitchen with a eager Creature following behind him. Eventually, Niq got the dog to go outside, closing the door behind him, "One day you'll be comfortable around him." He promised with a smile, walking back towards the girl. "Bad experiences?" He inquired curiously. Niq wondered why she was so scared of him.

"Sorry." Isolde mumbled. Finally exhaled as Niq put Creature outside, it was actually kind of embarrassing to be completely terrified of your friend's dog who appeared to be a big sweetheart. Shaking her head at Niq's promise. "Uh, I've been bit a few times." She admitted softly, a few times translated to many times; plus being chased since she was 8. "He seemed nice though, but he's a dog." She added. Her fearful paleness changing to embarrassed blush.

"Don't worry about it. You're among the many who are slightly terrified of him." Niq chuckled, leaning against the wall again. "Believe it or not, I've only been chased. Never bit though." He thought for a moment, before confirming his words with a nod, "But I'm sorry that happened, dogs aren't the nicest to our kind are they?" He laughed softly. The room they stood in was the living room, which lead down the hallway they had already walked through. There were a few comfy couches and a tv, but along the walls there were multiple family pictures and even younger pictures of Niq himself. You could easily say puberty had done him well.

"You haven't ever been bit? Not even once?" Isolde asked in disbelief, a small smile showing on her face. "No they really aren't." She confirmed quietly. Now that Creature was gone her attention turned to the room they were standing in. Her gaze traveling around the room curiously, eyeing a few pictures that had to be of Niq and his family. They looked nice in the photos but Niq had obviously grown up, nicely too. "So those pictures are of your family, right?" She asked curiously.

"Not even once!" Niq smirked, watching as she examined the room, "Yeah, every single one of these pictures was edited by a professional." He laughed, shaking his head, "When the retinal flare started happening, my grandparents let me live with them for a little bit so they could help me out a little bit." Niq explained, watching Isolde intently. He eventually looked at the pictures along the walls, wondering if any of them were super embarrassing. He did suddenly realize she had never been at his parent's house before, causing his cheeks to turn the slightest bit of red. Older pictures of him caused nightmares. He had hated taking pictures since the first day someone took one of him.

Isolde stepped closer to the wall and looked at the pictures closer. They looked perfectly normal thanks to editing, also because human behavior of families having the weird inability to have a perfect picture because someone always blinked or stuck their tongue out. "Aw, you looked cute!" She commented finding a picture from when he was little, looking back at Niq with a smirk. "Not so much now." She teased. Raising an eyebrow when he spoke of his grandparents. "That's neat. My dad is a shifter from a family of mostly out kind and my mom is a human who's parents and siblings were all shifters. Sadly they ended up with two shifters in the same year, my older brother was 12 and I was 8." She explained with a thoughtful smile. "My grandparents laughed as they watched form the safety of their own home."
( You know what would be funny? If Niq, Isolde and Olivia are all just chilling there and Niq's parents came back to meet this friend of their son cx )

Niq laughed, "What are you talking about?? I'm even cuter." He joked, smirking at Isolde. As she spoke about her parents, he smiled softly. "You were 8? That's crazy!" He exclaimed, comparing it to his 16 year old self. Niq couldn't even imagine living with that knowledge at the age of 8; he didn't even know who he was at 8. He shook his head in amusement at his own thoughts, focusing back on Isolde. While the two stood there, Olivia appeared down the hallway.
"Well, shifting back wasn't hard at all. But good god, that was horrific." She spoke before acknowledging Isolde. Olivia looked pretty similar to Niq, in fact, the only real differences were femininity, height, and hair color. Instead of the good old ginger locks Niq was known for, Olivia was a simple curly-haired brunette. "And you must be Isolde." She grinned, walking towards her and pulling her in for a hug. Olivia wasn't a hand shaker, "I've heard so much about you!"
Niq's cheeks reddened at the mention of how much Olivia has heard about Isolde.
( i like that idea!! c: )

Isolde mockingly rolled her eyes at Niq, then let out a sigh of disappointment. "Yeah, I already told you too." She recalled, she had told him at the library when they figured out that they were both shifters thanks to Vanessa. Looking back in surprise when Olivia spoke up. Her hazel gaze running up and down the girl, noting that she looked okay and quite similar to Niq; it was obvious to her that they were siblings. "Yep that's me!" She confirmed with a friendly smile and hugging Olivia back. "Have you now?" Isolde mused, glancing back at Niq and smirking when she saw his face redden before her attention returned to the girl. "And you must be Olivia? I've heard about you too." A bit, not a lot but she still knew about her.

Niq bit his lip in embarrassment, trying his best to cover it up, even though he knew was failing. Olivia and Niq didn't keep anything from each other, so it was no surprise that would be one of Olivia's opening lines. She knew just how to embarrass him.
"Awh, the emotionless wreck actually talks about his family?" Olivia laughed, shaking her head as she glanced teasingly at Niq. "Sorry, if I ruined any of your plans by the way. Hope you didn't see what happened a little bit ago either." She gave a small, hopeful smile, "Great first impression, I guess." Olivia was very mature for her age, considering she was 12 and could be perceived as an 18 year old. With Niq's help, she had really grown up fast.

Isolde raised an eyebrow in amusement. "No not really, he is pretty emotionless." She agreed jokingly, taking a step back away from Olivia. "Hey it's fine, we weren't really doing anything." She assured softly, she liked this girl. She was funny and mature, but she seemed a little too mature; Isolde couldn't forget exactly how old Olivia was and it was sad to see someone with an air of maturity that shouldn't be there. "I saw some of it but I've got two brothers so I have seen worse, much worse." She excused, there was no reason for her to be sorry for something like a shifting accident.

Niq laughed and shook his head in amusement, "I am standing right here you know. In the room, involved in the conversation." He teased the both of them back.
Olivia nodded, basically ignoring Niq's comment, "That's good. I'm glad I didn't scare you off." She smiled at Isolde, "but then again, I'm surprised he hasn't yet." Olivia spoke with a giggle, grinning at the two of them before disappearing into the kitchen with a skip.

Isolde put her hand over her mouth as she started laughing at Olivia, oh this girl was funny. Wiping at her eyes to make sure there were no tears as a grin spread across her face s she watched the girl skip away. Walking over to Niq and softly elbowed him. "I like your sister," She concluded quiet enough that Olivia wouldn't hear. "She's cute."

Niq gasped as she softly elbowed him, "I apparently am an emotionless wreck, how dare you elbow me. My emotions could explode any second." He spoke jokingly, his eyes wide as he stared at Isolde. He couldn't help but crack a smile after a few moments, watching the girl next to him. Suddenly, you could hear the garage door open and close, along with more footsteps down the hall, "Oh, brother." Niq spoke, immediately recognizing that his parents had just gotten home. He ran a hand down his face, mentally preparing himself for the embarrassment he was about to undergo.

Isolde silently eyed Niq for a moment before elbowing him in response and shaking her head. "Let me know how exploding goes for you, I want to video it." She teased dryly in response while folding her arms only to jump when she heard a garage door open. Suddenly going behind Niq and gently shoving him forward. "Non-human sacrifice." She whispered, peaking around him curiously before walking back around just in case it was someone important.

Niq laughed and shook his head at Isolde's comment, "Non-human sacrifice," he repeated quietly in amusement. As the footsteps got closer, his parents finally appeared. The saying 'opposites attract' was a perfect description of Niq's parents. Not only was his mom dressed very nicely, but she looked very posh and pristine. As for his dad, he looked extremely laid back and for once, you could tell where Niq got his unruly auburn curls from. Niq inhaled softly as he waited for even more embarrassing moments. His parents immediately acknowledged Niq and Isolde's presence, his mother grin widening as she walked down the hallway.
"What a lovely surprise!" Allison, Niq's mother, exclaimed while walking up to her son. She stepped up on her tip-toes to hug and give him a kiss on the cheek. Once she pulled away, Allison smiled at Isolde, "Hello! I'm Allison, pleasure to meet you." Niq's mother held out her hand for Isolde to shake.

The moment she could see them Isolde's gaze flickered back and forth between Niq's parents and Niq himself, they had to be related even though she could see the visible differences between the pair. Well that's nice, they ended up at his parents' house without them being there but now they were here. Hopefully it wouldn't be too awkward. Isolde quickly remembered her manners when Allison introduced herself, kindly smiling back at. "Nice to meet you too, I'm Isolde." She introduced while shaking her hand. The introvert in her wanting to leave as quickly as possible because there was suddenly people.

( me yesterday ^ )
"Well, now everyone's met each other, we're free to leave." Niq smiled, stepping towards the front door before his mother grabbed his arm. He knew how similar Isolde's introvertness was to his own, so he didn't want to make her stay, no matter how fun his family could be at times.
"Don't leave so soon!" Allison grinned, motioning for them to enter the kitchen. This action caused Niq to groan, "We weren't even supposed to come here today."

( I wish that was me but I always stay up forever even if I hardly slept cx how's school going? )
Once Niq moved Isolde quickly took a step in the direction of the door before holding in an awkward huff when his mom suddenly stopped them. This was the number one worst part of making and having friends, meeting their parents for the first time; she could handle holding their hair back after a long night with people like Annie, being taken places you wouldn't normally go, etc. Slowly glancing over at Niq to see what they would end up doing. "We really should go, we've got homework." She added.

( it's going pretty well! pretty simple. i have alot of breaks between classes though and it's pretty frustrating, but other than that its good. have you started yet? )
Niq nodded in agreement of Isolde's comment, "She's right." He spoke quietly, glancing at his sister who was making funny faces at the two. He shook his head with a smirk and looked back at his mom. Before Allison could respond, Niq's father spoke up,
"Is that code for something else?" He questioned, a serious look on his face. Knowing his own father, Niq knew he was joking, but his humor could sometimes be taken differently by strangers.
"And what would that something else be?" Niq questioned curiously, tilting his head to the side.
"Something we can't acknowledge in front of your sister, that's for sure."

( That sounds great that you have breaks, those are always nice. Yep! My class at my school started back up on the 3rd but then we only ended up in class for two days and the rest of the week there were snow days. )
Isolde quietly watched the family interact, trying to pick up on what the situation was. If it was supposed to be funny she didn't want to be serious but if it was supposed to be serious she didn't want to be funny. This is when being a people watcher came in handy. Rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "It's actually code for 'trying not to fail class so you don't have to work fast food your whole life' if you were interested." Isolde answered lightly, hoping she didn't come off too serious. Glancing at Olivia. "Don't fail class." She advised.
