Hey guys. So I'm currently studying for a clinical degree and such in college. It's winter break and I'm not currently working, but I'm feeling rather creative. I was hoping to maybe do some fantasy roleplays with a modern spin. I blame Final Fantasy XV and the way they created a world of fantasy, modernism, and with a unique plot and concept.
first plot:
An Avatar: The Last Airbender roleplay going even further into the future, likened to our modern day. Taking concepts from the original and Legend of Korra series, such as bending and the history, but further modernizing it. For example, bending is still something taught and known; however, the world population has led to benders becoming only 2/5 of the general population. That said, families would become mixed as the world unionized between nations and further led to mixed families between benders from different nations, and benders and non-benders. Convertibles, cell phones, and such you would see around you today. People go to school, university, and get jobs. Fighting has modernized to weapons and semiautomatics, but even the army has special units of benders (mostly water, fire, and earth, but there are a few very small air units). The Avatar has become a person of legend and revered. As the world has become muddled and United Republic of Nations have disbanded the bending kingdom, the avatar continues a cycle however can be anyone and anywhere (though usually of two parents of the same bending or one bending and a nonbending in the cycle as anthropologists theorized). Thus, the muddled world of renamed nations find it a militaristic power to acquire the Avatar, for war or general threatening other republics. Though not generally always at war for long, skirmishes and other disputes happen where the line teeters.
The plot would and could be any sort and any way. In fact, many plots can kinda erupt from the general concept. Bender/nonbender friendship. The Avatar and son oor daughter of a military admiral of any nation. The list goes on.
The world has become divided in four republics;
[Republic of Purva, that takes up most of the original earth kingdom] ; capital city Ba Sing Se
[Republic of Uttara, that takes up most of the northern former United Republic of Nations (with the exception of Republic City) and the northern water tribe and northern air temple] ; capital city Luthadel
[Republic of Daksina, that takes up the southern former United Republic of Nations and the southern and eastern air temples and the southern water tribe]; capital city Omashu
[Republic of Vesta , that takes up the former fire nation and some of the northern United Republic of Nations, and western air temple]; capital city Nation City (the former fire nation capital many years ago)
Republic City is the united national city of the world, people of all nations, and heritage converge on the city. The four republics send representatives to Republic City to negotiate and settle disputes and trading across the republics.
Air Nomad temples are usually sparsely populated grounds of monks from mostly air bending families, however, different benders and nonbending citizens can visit temples to meditate and ask for guidance.
For this plot I was just thinking of the beauty of urban benders, behind the alley fighting and such. I think it would be a cool plot to do, maybe not even one-on-one but a few people to make a team Avatar or something.
second plot:
this one is a bit more simpler as it takes place in modern America, but the wizarding world and Harry Potter-esque world. Except modern urban wizards; it would be fun to have the magical community of America in 2016 to see how wizards are and how they interact with one another and the No-Maj world. I absolutely loved Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and I especially enjoyed how quick-paced the magic was and how it came fluidly in the No-Maj world and between other wizards. So yeah, this one isn't specific or having to make anything up off the top of my head to modernize it.
In all reality, I'm pretty open to doing anything. Just bring in a plot, chat a bit and figure something out. Anything really.
