Claire put on her calm face at this point in the meeting she was used to the situation somewhat so she could easily peacefully think of what to say. Though the first thing that came to mind was stealing, and hiding was quite easier than this, she really wasn't liking this. It was odd talking to someone, someone she was suppose to win the favor of. Hearing his question she had to think she wasn't sure if she should be honest with the prince, and she decided it would be best to just continue with the lay that she lived in near the coast with her parents. She doubted she had much of a winning chance if she was honest about being a master thief, in fact she'd probably be thrown in the local dungeon. "I live near the coast." She simply said it was odd for her to say since she had pale skin most would expect someone from the coast to have tanner skin. At this point she was already ready to be sent away she was the type of person to scout the goal for a few minutes then retreat for later. She wasn't used to not being ready, and right now she wasn't.

Jigs:
Wrong.
Augustus sad only after Contessa--Tessa, he corrected himself silently--did. He actually laughed at her question, but the laugh died on his lips at her confession.
His blue eyes flashed, and it was a long moment before he spoke again, his jaw visibly tightened. "I see. If you have no desire to marry me, Contessa, why did you enter your name into the drawing?" he asked in a measured voice. He was furious and embarrassed, neither of which were emotions he enjoyed and especially did not like to experience together. Had she truly only come to make a fool of him?

Jigs: Wrong. Augustus sad only after Contessa-- Tessa, he corrected himself silently--did. "For my family," She confessed curtly, immediately noticing she had offended him. Sighing, she supposed an apology was in order, "I'm sorry, my family wants me to win, so I joined for them, but I personally have no interest..." She paused slightly, trying to think of a way to cool his anger, as she bit her red lower lip nervously. "It isn't personal, your highness. How can it be when we don't know each other personally? You're handsome, you seem kind, and I'm sure you're very well educated and very intelligent, but...marriage isn't my thing. And even if I was interested, Augustus, you can't possibly make someone fall in love with you. So there isn't any point in trying to." She realized she had gotten a little chatty just there, but, she wanted him to understand from the beginning, and have them both on the same page instead of hiding this fact from him, and having him find out later and have the whole situation be worse. The Selected girl lowered her eyes slightly to glance down at her lap, before looking back up to meet the Prince's blue eyes with her own green eyes, as she searched his face to see if her words had calmed him, or made him angrier.

Sky:
Augustus's eyebrows rose for a moment, but he decided it would be ridiculous to assume the girl's words were anything other than a joke. "Oh, I think 'Patience' will serve just fine," he assured her. He drew in a breath and thought for a moment about her question. "We aren't very far into the process, so it's difficult to say," he answered. "I'm sure I'll enjoy it more once we all know one another a little better. But thank you for asking. Know that you are welcome to ask for anything here and it will be provided. You are also 'lucky' enough for this to be your home as well, for a time at least."

Blossom:
Ah, so she was the older girl! He remembered seeing a lot of 17-year-olds in his file, and though it was all pure chance, he felt a little like a cradle-robber just because there were so many. That thought was ridiculous, of course. Seventeen was plenty old enough to start making one's own decisions, to fall in love.
He hoped.
He decided to try for levity. "Ah, so I am not the only one. You'll likely be the one shepherding the others into line then," he said with a smile. He truly was glad she was his age. It sounded like such a little thing, but the prince was often reminded of his own youth, especially since his parents had had him later in life than most, and age differences in youth were more significant that they were in adulthood.

"I shall do so with pride," Ellie chuckled softly and she couldn't help but smile. "These ladies already feel like my sisters and I'm glad to have them, growing up with three brothers."
Ellie dusted off her dress a bit, her cheeks beginning to burn. "I'm sorry about my dress!" She almost blurted out, it could out more as a random apology, but she had to say it. Thankfully, they had both grown silent for a few moment after her response to her age.

"Thank you, Your Highness." Patience smiled, forcing her twiddling fingers to stay still and for her hands to fall to her sides again. "I hope that I can make this mine and my family's home soon." Hoping that she wasn't being too forward, the Selected girl glanced around the room. "So, Prince Augustus, tell me about yourself. After all, you are the man that we all hope to marry."

Warrior:
(I'm not encouraging you to change your reply, but just remember that he has access to all her information. So even if he doesn't know she's a theif, he does know her legal address at least, and who her parents are and so on and so forth.)
A wistful smile appeared on Augustus's face. "I love the coast, and the ocean," he admitted to Claire. "We rarely visit, though, not nearly as much as I would like. Do you enjoy the ocean?" he asked curiously.
(Sorry it's short?)

Augustus could appreciate doing things for one's family, but this--to enter a competition for something she didn't want at all--it was a waste of time. It was deceitful.
"No, I cannot," he said slowly, his blue eyes meeting her green ones with a steely gaze. "But forcing an indifferent heart to love me was never the intention. Inviting an open one to try, that is different." He rose to his feet suddenly. Her being here did benefit her family, he supposed. They would be compensated every week she was here, and there was something to be said for publicity. But it did not seem like enough to him. "I will see you at dinner," he said coolly, dismissing her. He would have to decide later whether or not to send her home. There seemed no point in keeping her--what was wrong with her?! It was like joining a soccer team even though you hated sports, or buying a lottery ticket with no intention to collect if you won. On the other hand, he did not like being told what to do or backed into a corner. He was highly tempted to keep her here just for spite.

(That's fine, it'd be funny if he figured out she was lying. ;p Plus her parents live in the coast she is more a nomad is the point of her lying. So on her legal information it would still say she lives with her parents.)
(Good night)
"I enjoy the ocean very much." Claire answered quite honestly she had grown up near it her whole life she wasn't fond of swimming, she was more a watch it from the distance kind of person. The reason she wasn't as tan as one would expect is she never really left her house as a child, and upon growing up she started learning her unique skills that kept her out during the night rather than the day. Her parents still believed Claire was simply a journalist which is also what the computer would say upon looking her up. She kept her night life hidden quite well. She wasn't some two bit thief she was quite smart with her life. "I must admit I don't see it often since I'm normally traveling." She added another half lie the last article written by Claire was about a year ago.

It was like joining a soccer team even though you hated sports, or buying a lottery ticket with no intention to collect if you won. On the other hand, he did not like being told what to do or backed into a corner. He was highly tempted to keep her here just for spite. "Oh don't be so pompous, your highness," Contessa huffed out once he was finished speaking, she knew her innocent intentions had been a naive mistake. "It doesn't matter how open the heart, Augustus, if it isn't meant to be, it won't be no matter how open or how ready," though she said this sentence very quietly, she was feeling positively awful now, and a little irritated with him. She knew she probably shouldn't have called him pompous, and she bit her tongue to reprimand herself. What if he really did have them cut of her head at this rate? Well, at least, years from now it would be a funny story.
"Here I had hoped you would've been different, but I suppose I'm to be disappointed," She muttered to herself, was it a law that rich people, especially royal ones, always had to be so entitled? And rude? They never seemed to be able to step into someone elses shoes. Thoroughly irritated, she stood up once he dismissed her. This time, she actually curtsied, but she made sure he noticed the attitude and hint of spite in it. If he was going to throw a tantrum and act like a snob, who said she couldn't do the same? "Yes, I'll see you at dinner, it was nice meeting you, Your Highness," she said as evenly and toneless as she could manage, before she brushed her curls out of her face with one quick hand movement, and turned her back to him.

Priscilla smiled. "My name is Priscilla Glace." She blinked, suddenly unsure of what to do. Keep cool. Priscilla stood stiffly, perhaps a little too stiffly, trying to look confident and composed. What should I say? What do I say? Priscilla decided to go with, "It's an honor to be here, and to meet you. It truly is." She took a hesitant step towards Augustus, daring to meet his eyes for just an instant. They were blue, she noted. Like her own.

(Hey, guys! I will be here long enough to reply to everyone's post, but then I have to go again.)
Blossom:
Augustus nodded slightly, satisfied for the time with Ellie's eagerness to please, if somewhat doubting the actual depth of her attachment to any of the other girls at this point. The next words to tumble out of her mouth surprised him. Well, she wasn't wrong to apologize. Be kind. "Your dress becomes you," he answered honestly. "It is simply...not usually what one might wear to supper around here. It is only your first night," he finished by way of dismissing it. She would have time to learn these things.
Sky:
Ah, so she was ambitious. And confident too. He could work with that. He chuckled once and held out his hands for a moment. "There is much to tell and little time tonight, I'm afraid. Is there any one question in particular you'd like to ask? I ought to send you to dinner after that; I am sure you are hungry."
Warrior:
Augustus tilted his head ever so slightly, interested. "Travelling?" he inquired. If he lived by the ocean, he would never feel he need to travel again! What could be more interesting than the seaside?
Jigs:
Augustus gritted his teeth in irritation. How dare she sit here and lecture him about his inability to force someone to love him? That was not what he was trying to do! The Selection was constructed in such a way as to be entirely voluntary. How dare she fill a spot that could have been taken by another girl, a girl who might have been able and willing to become a queen, to love him, and therefore worsen his chance--his only chance--to find love? And then she had the nerve to lecture him about it! As if he had done something wrong!
Oh, they would most certainly continue this argument later. But it would have been the height of incivility to yell after her and demand the confrontation then and there, so he clenched his hands behind his back and watched her go.
He couldn't remember the last time he had been this angry. "Jonas!" he called. A butler appeared at the door. "Give me two minutes before you escort the next girl," Augustus instructed. The man nodded and closed the door, leaving him alone to gather himself.
(Ah, the drama!)
Peppermint:
Augustus smiled at Priscilla. "The honor is mine, I assure you," he told her sincerely. "Your life is in for more of a change than mine is."
(Sorry it's short! I'm running out of time. :/ )
Essie:
(Kryslyn looks fine! But it is pronounced like "Chris-Lynn" or like "cries-Lynn"? Also, there are no castes in this rp. So you are more than welcome to say her parents are both librarians, but no caste would make that employment a necessity. I made a bolder note about the country's educational system a little earlier on page 5, I believe, if you care to look. And yes, personal meetings right now. It's just before suppertime, the girls have been made over and chosen evening gowns to wear, and the prince is meeting them one by one in a small living room-type-area. Jump in!)

Ellie gave a slow nod, taking in his words. She took a deep breath before admitting, "I've never worn a dress before..." She looked rather ashamed, not meeting his eyes as she spoke. "But anyway, could we maybe change the subject?" Her cheeks flushed again. "I'm sorry. I not usually this flustered." Her eyes couldn't stay in one place, nor did her body stop fidgeting from side to side.

(Chris-lyn, sorry. Ah, I wasn't aware it was after the series, so sorry! I'll change it. I did read that note, thank you. I'm going to jump in, if that's okay! ) Kryslyn adjusted her silvery-lavender dress and looked up briefly. It was indicated she was to go in, so she picked up the hem of her dress to move a little easier and walked into the room. Her thoughts were falling into line: Be polite. Make a good impression. Don't overstep yourself, think before you speak, don't come off as aloof. She raised her head as she entered and swept her eyes over the room quickly. It was not particularly remarkable or unique, and her eyes quickly moved back to the real center of attention: the prince who was waiting for her. He was handsome enough--not the kind of handsome that would make sillier girls fall over themselves, but handsome enough his Selection would be a popular one. His hair was brown, his eyes blue, and her mind flitted over the fact it was an uncommon combination. "Hello, Prince Augustus. I am Kryslyn Whitewind. Pleased to meet you." She curtsied smoothly and clasped her hands behind her back, silently acknowledging her dress looked better than she'd expected and that she'd spoken exactly what she should've. She waited for him to respond, preparing herself to pick up silent cues and respond to whatever he said.
