Hello there! Forgive me for any typing mistakes, I'm quite tired and have been working on this for a bit now. Anyway,
This'll be a planning thread and/or interest check for two fan-clans that I've been thinking about for a while. It won't be built into the world of canon, which I find culturally dry, instead it'll be set in a different time/place. The setting is SW Massachusetts, around a pond into which several brooks feed, and densely forested. There are roads nearby enough, however any area of human residence is quite a distance away, so kittypet encounters will be few and far-between.
A spreadsheet for clan allegiances, code info, naming guidelines, religions, clan map, etc. (Please inform me if you cannot see this, or the other links within the spreadsheet. I will be using this instead of placing clan allegiances in a layout, it's more organised and easier to manage.)
Frostclan is an old clan, formed with the clans it used to border. It was pushed far north by a rival clan after a harsh leafbare for the resources and territory it had occupied. During and after that point many Frostclan cats began questioning Starclan, who had not sent them a word in vast amounts of moons, and/or rejecting it altogether starting with the then-leader, Hailstar. After a time, a completely new religion was established by the fairly desperate cats: Lightclan, Polytheistic in nature although it would take many moons for deities to be established in the clan's folklore. They established an elder's council to prevent tyranny by the leader and/or the deputy, electing 3 deputies to later be chosen from for leader (OOC this will be a poll for all members with a cat in Frostclan to take part in, but IC it's just the elders who vote.). Frostclan readily accepted outsiders as long as they proved themselves worthy of a warrior's life. They did what they could to survive. Pineclan branched off of it, after one of the senior warriors, Pineheart/star, found himself rejected the established religious values claiming that he had received a vision from starclan itself, and that they had told him that he was to lead. Pineheart told only those he could trust on the issue, and set up a night to leave when most cats would be sleeping. He attempts to leave, but it stopped by his former clanmates, and in the midst of a reluctant battle this RP will begin.
Here's an intro:
The wind was screaming at the cats who dared to still hold open their eyes and close their ears to its criticisms. The moon above was a beacon, however, silencing any doubts, keeping worried cats still. The faint of heart certainly would never sign up for a task like this, but most cats of the clan had experienced leafbares as harsh as this. If not for the community, many a feline would have submitted themselves to their fate, and perhaps utter a pleading cry for all of it to end.
Maybe it was bravery, maybe it was stupidity, maybe it was fear of the unknown that kept Frostclan cats from fleeing. An odd competition to see who the last cat standing was. The cats joked about leafbare even though they knew they might not wake to see next sunrise. Such was the way of the Deities, sometimes.
Pineheart eased himself outside of the warriors' den, careful not to disturb his denmates, or what was left of them. His hazel eyes looked east, where he knew his friends were waiting for his next move. His breath came out as wisps of smoke, easily visible against the dark sky. Small flakes of snow clung to his insulated fur. The chocolate tabby let out a grunt, less because of the cold, and more because of the difficulties he'd face escaping the clan with cats on watch.
He would have to press on now, or risk the entire plan falling, and the consequences following that. This was the right thing to do for his cats, he knew. Doing his best to stay away from the sentries' fields of vision, Pineheart worked slowly, meticulously. the once fresh snow crunched under pressure, but was silenced. His breath was deep so to not rouse attention, even if it meant cold, burning air clinging to his tongue and lungs. Every step was into the path of the unknown, but the one Starclan had promised him. The one that he had promised his friends.
One of the sentries, hunched over due to the cold, caught Pineheart's gaze. Her ears pricked forward, and for a moment neither one of them said anything. Using the silence as an opportunity to go, the chocolate tom waded through the snow, trying to ignore the cat that was likely glaring at the back of his head.
Pineheart's fur bristled with the use of one of the deities. snow fell to the ground, or drifted into the wind. The tom narrowed his eyes, but did not speak to any of them. He recognized that he would have to leave right now, else serious damage would be done. His tail swept from side to side slowly. He hoped that his friends got the message, and that they were moving. Pineheart wasted no time, and broke off into a run. His bones seemed to scream at him, chilled from the cold. He could hear the sounds of cats waking, questioning what was going on. If he looked back, Pineheart would be staring death in the face. or would he be? Was he not Pinestar?
The wind silenced, as if hoping to hear what would happen next, or like a shocked child, too afraid to raise its voice. The crunching of snow was audible, and one could not determine just how many cats were running.
Pinestar's eyes betrayed him, and he looked backward to see the leader charging after him. His pace slowed, as if he really wasn't considering what he was about to do. His cats sensed this, and one by one they dropped out of the trees. Some were hesitant, likely the ones who were only following Pinestar's lead through peer pressure. Some were stalwart friends, their gaze not faltering as they trained on the Frostclan leader. A thick, unbearable cloud on tension settled, threatening to choke those who were not ready to give their lives to fight out of it. Pinestar met the eyes of Shrikecloud, who smiled sympathetically.
Pinestar bolted, feeling adrenaline pulse through his veins. His breathing quickened. Finally, guidance from Starclan after so many generations. His calmness of mind in that moment cracked and fell to the ground like glass after he felt the leader leap onto him, and the other cats of Frostclan joined the fray, fighting in some wicked, elaborate manner as if it were a dance, many trying to avoid sharing claws or fangs with those they loved, or held close friendships with.

Leafbare was relentless, often. Taking those who did not deserve to go so soon.
The wind was screaming at the cats who dared to still hold open their eyes and close their ears to its criticisms. The faint of heart certainly would never sign up for a task like this, but most cats of the clan had experienced leafbares as harsh as this. Small flakes of snow clung to his insulated fur. The chocolate tabby let out a grunt, less because of the cold, and more because of the difficulties he'd face escaping the clan with cats on watch.
"Starclan help me."
It didn't appear that it was to be so.
"Pineheart! Where in Foxfoot's name are you going?" The cat called, briefly turning to acknowledge the other sentries who had heard.
The wind silenced, as if hoping to hear what would happen next, or like a shocked child, too afraid to raise its voice. The crunching of snow was audible, and one could not determine just how many cats were running.
"Pineheart! You are not supposed to be leaving camp grounds! Report back to us, now!" It was the familiar, demanding voice of Frostclan's leader, yet at the same time it was almost pleading, begging, trying to rip at Pinestar's heartstrings.
"Pineheart! What is the meaning of this? Speak with me." The leader barked, far less patient than they'd been. They, too, got the message. Claws were unsheathed, fur bristled. Frostclan's leader took a few steps forward and-
Pinestar bolted, feeling adrenaline pulse through his veins.
"Your deities are dead to me!" Pinestar spat, twisting around to face his fears and fight with his clan leader in ways that words could not.
------
Obviously, I'm going to need quite a few people for this. I'll need help for ceremonies, ESPECIALLY for Frostclan. I'll need to calculate a fitting time passage rate, like having 2 months pass for every real-life month. I miight need banners(thought certainly not required! I'm just not really that skilled in making banners.), and other art that makes threads like these more attractive. I'm mostly wanting those who have been roleplaying for a while, and comfortable with a more traditional naming system. I will need those who are okay with me selecting exactly who gets leadership positions. Those who are more active and literate are more acceptable.

To-Do's:
- Find players willing to join in, especially for leaders/deputies.
- Create guidelines for ceremonies
- Ideas for major/minor plots
- art/map of the clan camps(likely to be done by myself, though I will allow others their input.)
- write the rules and introduction for each clan
- Find banner art/layout art
- Write some rules
- Eventually create the separate threads for the clans
