Arabella stared at Chris with slight disbelief that he asked her to give him a nickname. "Do you know who you're talking to? You're asking the girl who had never had a nickname before, to give you one?" She started to laugh lightly and leaned into Chris just ever so slightly out of the fact that she was beyond exhausted. Swimming in the river had definitely drained her of any and all energy. She was basically sleep walking when it came to the rest of her chores for the day. But once she realized what she was doing she quickly sat up to her original position. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize what I was doing." Arabella apologised quickly, a pink blush coloring her cheeks

Chris chuckled "okay, okay, I guess Chris is fine" he said with a smile before he looked down at her in surprise as she leaned on him. He glanced away, feeling his cheeks starting to burn. He furrowed his brow slightly, confused of why he was getting so embarrassed about it. He calmed down slightly and looked back over at her "it's fine, if your feeling tired you should get some rest" he said with a kind smile before grinning "don't worry, you'll get to see me tomorrow anyways" he said teasing her.

Arabella would be lying if she said she did expect some snarky comment from Chris instead of the response he did give. But she didn't speak of it. However, before she can give a proper response words started to spill from her mouth. "Can I stay with you?" She said quickly before her face went bright red and her eyes grew wide. What has gotten into her? Chris wouldn't want that, she was only his caretaker, nothing more. But she never seemed to have any control over what she said when she was around him. Which was why he spilled all of her personal buisness to him by the river

Arabella was full of surprises right now, again he was surprised by what she had said. He tilted his head slightly and looked up, acting like he was thinking. He knew what he would say, he just needed a second. He looked back to her and shrugged "sure, that's fine" he said before smirking "your dad and Bane would probably kill me though" he said, but he honestly didn't care right now. He yawned "but I'm getting pretty tired too" he confessed as he glanced over at the window to see that is dark outside, only the stars and moon shining. He lay down in the bed, shifting over a little to give Arabella some room if she wanted to sleep in the bed with him, or sleep on a chair.

Arabella didn't think he really wanted her, despite what he said. She was I more disbelief that he actually agreed to let her spend the night - even if it was really her room - here. Did he just pity her? It was very hard to tell right now. "Are you sure?" She asked, her face pale, and eyes showing the concern and almost fear she felt at awaiting his response. He hadn't seen her like this before, and she shouldn't have let him. She shouldn't have asked, Arabella was truly the most idiotic of idiots. She didn't even know why she asked him in the first place. Her brother's room was perfect suitable, and yet she had to disturb him like this.

Chris looked over at her, only one eye open as he looked at her and shrugged "well.... yeah, if you really want to, I mean it is your room anyway" he said "but you don't really have to stay the night..." he said as he put a hand to his chest, acting hurt "if you really don't trust me and you want to leave me here.... all alone" he said before grinning and looked over at her for her response.

Arabella looked at Chris curiously, he was being honest then. That wasn't exactly what she expected out of him, in fact, she wasn't sure what she expected. "Oh, well, if you're sure." She moved to the edge of her bed and stood, going to her chair by her desk, but continued to face Chris. "I just have to do a few things before I actually go to bed. You don't mind if I read for a little bit do you?" Arabella asked, standing from her seat and grabbed a book from her book shelf. It was blank on both covers, the pages were worn and extremely thin, so she doubted he would be able to guess what it was.

Chris turned on his side so that he was facing her. "Yeah, that's fine" he said as he watched her pull out a book. He stared at it curiously before looking over at her "what's the name of the book?" he asked her. He couldn't tell since the covers were blank, and plus, he didn't read us much as he use to when he was a little boy and he still had a normal life.

Arabella had sat back down again and had set the book down on her desk when she heard Chris. "Oh, um, it's nothing really." She said with a slight shrug. That was a lie though, that book was everything, at least Arabella thought it was, but she didn't want to say much about it. "If you wanted to read, I have plenty others you could look a though." She shifted her gaze to Chris nervously before opening her book to where she had last left off. There were notes written on the sides in spaces that were purposely left, and the book did indeed look very busy. It was like that on every page up until this point, as she hadn't gotten farther than the book of Song of Solomon.

Chris stared at her, getting even more curious since she said it was 'nothing'. "Hmmm, what if I'm only interested in that book?" he asked her. He sat up in the bed and ran a hand through his hair "I'll leave you alone if you just tell me... but if you don't want to... then I'll just keep asking you until you do" he said with a innocent smile as he waited for what she would say.

Arabella raised an eyebrow at Chris's words from where she was sitting, looking away from him and at her book. "Do you find it very appropriate to force a lady to talk about her personal buisness?" She asked, her tone not as serious as her words. She would stay calm more or less for now, until he did start prying more than for what was comfortable for her. She picked up her feather from the ink bottle and started to write down something in the spaces of the book provided in her native language. Arabella did this now, unlike on the other pages, in case Chris tried to take a peek. To him it would probably look like nonsense.

Chris frowned slightly at what she said "well I don't find it very polite.. but is a book really personal? I mean unless it's a diary then sure... but I don't think that's a diary" he said. "Could you please tell me what's the name of the book your reading Bella?" he asked her, using her nickname to see if he would get a better chance of making her tell him. He was just getting more curious by the second.

Arabella frowned slightly as she wrote and listened to Chris. "It is personal. And this book goes by many names, so I'm afraid you'll have to specify which name you want me to give you." Hopefully that will by her some time to stall from his questions. Even if it wasn't for long, she just needed a bit of time to write and get her thoughts in order. If he didn't stop though, she wasn't sure what she would do. Because if she put the book away, Chris would surely grab it.

Chris sighed, but he had a comment for her right after she said that. "Well... by what name do you call that book?" he asked her. "that's all I want to know, the name of the book" he said before pausing for a second "and if it sounds interesting, then probably what it's about too I guess" he said as he looked at her eagerly.

Could he not take a hint? She wanted to just read and take notes on her religion's Holy Book, and she was minding her own buisness. She was being quiet about it too, but Chris had to be nosy, he had to pry and stick his nose where it didn't belong. Like a typical thief. "I call it several names as well." She responded in a flat tone, almost as if she was bored. Arabella was far from bored due to how frustrated she was at the moment, but she was trying her best to not grow angry.

Chris was getting frustrated, but he was determined to know the name of the book she was reading. He frowned and did a loud sigh, sounding as if he had given up. He shifted himself so that he was now laying sideways on the bed, so that his head and feet were dangling off the bed. He looked at her "well what's the name you usually call it? Out of all the names that you call it?" he asked her. Why couldn't she just tell him the name of the book? She could even lie about the title and he'd leave it at that.

Arabella thought about lying for a few moments, but lying was wrong. Absolutely and undeniably wrong. It only made you dig a deeper hole of lies. But she figured she could give him a name of the book. In her native language though. She let out a sigh and leaned her head on one hand, "in my native language, we call it Raamattu. There are plenty of other names for it, including in English. But that is what I call it most." She said bluntly before jotting down a few more notes in a rougher fashion out of slight anger.

Chris, tilted his head slightly "Raamattu...?" he echoed. What the hell is that kind of name? He blinked, trying not to say anything mean or snarky about the name of it. "Never heard of it" he said "sooo.... what's it about?" he asked her, smirking slightly. He could tell that he was getting on her nerves, but he was just going to act innocent and see if she actually told him about the oh so special book she was holding.

Arabella knew he wouldn't get it. It may sound weird to him, but to her, it was a normal word. Considering she spoke the language. "A lot of things. Mainly about the mind and spirit, and events from long ago. It's quite miraculous actually, but you probably wouldn't be interested in something like that." She shrugged, flipping the page to reveal chapter two. The pages were long, and the text was small, so it took a while to get through a page. Which was why there was a new chapter seemingly so soon.

"You never know, I might be interested in that kind of stuff" Chris said, he was ready to jump up and see the book for himself since she was stalling so much and not hearing what he wanted to hear from her answers, he wanted straight answers. He thought of something "hmm..." he looked at the book and then back to Arabella, studying her face "could you read me some of the book for me?" he asked her. He knew she probably wouldn't hand the book over to him, but he wanted to get a better understanding of the book she was reading.

Arabella stayed silent for a few moments as she thought about his request, her writing had ceased as she did so. "Alright, I suppose so." She made sure the ink was dry before flipping through her book to one of her favorite stories. Although, it wasn't really a story. It was quite true. Chris may beg to differ after hearing it, but to Arabella it was true. And nothing he could say would change that. She went to Daniel Chapter 3, and began, "King Nebuchadnezzar (neb-uh-kuh-nez-er) made an image of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up. So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
Then the herald loudly proclaimed, 'Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.'
Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the nations and peoples of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews. They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'May the king live forever! Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach (shad-rack), Meshach (mee-shack) and Abednego (uh-ben-dih-go)—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.'
Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, 'Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?'
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, 'King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.'
Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, 'Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?'
They replied, 'Certainly, Your Majesty.'
He said, 'Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.'
Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!'
So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, 'Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.'
Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon." She finished reading the chapter with a bit of wonder in her eyes as she looked down at the pages. But when she looked up at Chris, she looked at him expectantly. There was more to the story, a lot more. But she ended it there. One chapter was a lot to read through actually, and since Arabella was no expert in reading, it made her eyes hurt a bit looking at the tiny text. And in a language she hadn't mastered yet
{Sorry, had errands to run }

Chris listened to what she was reading from the book. He listened carefully and made sure to hear every single word. The book sounded like something similar to what he had read before when he was younger, but it was so long ago, he couldn't recall what the name of the book was, or where it was from. After Arabella had finished he didn't say anything for a moment, just to register what she had read to him. "hmm.. sounds like a pretty interesting book.. I think I've heard of it somewhere... I just can't remember right now.." he said as he looked up at the ceiling, trying to remember, but gave up after not being able to remember. He looked back over at her "so basically these three guys refused to worship this kings God, so they were sentenced to death, but their own God saved them?" he said, pretty much summarizing the part she had just read out loud. Then something clicked in his head "hold on... God? Babylon? Is that possibly a Bible?" he asked her, tilting his head slightly. He felt like a complete idiot not knowing right when she was reading the book. But it had been forever since he's ever touched, seen, or read a Bible.

Arabella was about to say that that wasn't what the whole book was about. There were so many kings and people mentioned in the book it would impossible to remember them all. And she assumed that maybe he wouldn't figure it out, because he said absolutely nothing that would cue her into thinking that he thought it was a Bible or Raamattu as her people would say. "You tell me." She said as she flipped back to the page she was on before he started asking questions and began to skim the page, not finding it easy to take in all the new information now that she had just finished reading something aloud.

Chris pondered about if he was right. He then nodded "well it could be the Bible, I mean c'mon. Not a lot of books have something about there only being one true God and stuff like that" he said "I mean, I may not know a lot about the Bible, but at least I know that" he said. "Lemme see the book so I can be sure about it" he told her. He never knew she was religious, that would explain why she almost killed him with her staff when they had first met and he revealed his identity.. Now everything was starting to make more sense.

Arabella closed the book and brought it to her closely, almost in a protective manner. "Why do you care? I am surprised you're worried about it all. There's a difference between curiosity and just being rude and improper. You crossed that line when you started asking questions." She snapped. She had enough of this, she found Chris very annoying at times like this, almost intolerable. But she would never harm him unless he struck first. Then she had every right to fight back. Love thy neighbor, love thy neighbor... She repeated in her head multiple times, trying as hard as she could to stand her ground and not leave, with him having the satisfaction that he had gotten to her. That's what people like Chris did wasn't it? Arabella assumed so anyway, she couldn't judge everyone like him under that stereotype though

"Well I'm sorry if I was being rude or improper, but I've been living out on the sea alone for years now, and the only people I've talked to were pirates, Armada guards, and other bandits, and believe me, they aren't too nice and proper. The Armada are actually pretty nasty people when your enemies with them, totally not the guards you think of who just stand there doing nothing and saying nothing. What he said may have made him sound pretty sarcastic, but he was actually trying to apologize to her. He raised his hands innocently "I was honestly just curious" he said before shrugging it off, not caring if she was mad at him anymore. He didn't want to get worked up about something like this.

Arabella took a deep breath to relax herself, to contain herself after he spoke. Mainly because she had to sympathize with the fact that he had been around people who were less likely to help him than she was. "I'm sorry for growing angry, but I didn't want you to see me any different than you probably already do after I told you...everything." She wasn't sure how to put an event like that into words, so she summarized it into one: everything. "You don't strike me as the religious type, and I'm afraid you would reject my help after learning that I am. I want to help you, why else would I have taken you all the way up here despite knowing you steal? Never did I think that it would cause me to reveal all of this...."

"It's fine, sorry for pushing you to tell me.." Chris said before smiling "Bella your going to have to do a lot more than just being religious for me to see you differently.. your still the smart, pretty, and kind person who took me in" he said in a gentle tone "and 'that' was in the past, you were young, I made did pretty stupid stuff when I was younger, and believe me I've done unspeakable things plenty of times that I regret now that I think about what I did" he said. He in all honesty wasn't too religious, but his grandma was, and that's how he kind of knew the Bible, but he was so little back then that he just fell asleep when his grandma started reading it to him.

Arabella listened to Chris intently, and when he described her as being smart, pretty, and kind, that was when she lost it internally. The only trace of that externally however was the blush in her cheeks. "You think I'm those things?" She asked, with a genuinely curios and almost confused voice. She hadn't heard those words in a while from people who weren't related to her. Much less a thief. And one who she had hid his belongings. It [his possibly stolen goods] were still in the same place she had put them, with Bane usually sleeping in the barn, it would most likely be impossible for Chris to sneak out an grab them in his current state.

Chris chuckled and grinned "what? You think i'm lying to you?" he asked her, acting a little offended. His grin turned into a soft smile "well.. yeah, I mean you probably get that a lot from other people right? I'm just saying the truth and how I see you" he said with a shrug. He usually didn't lie, unless it was something very personal or it was a life or death situation. And Chris was known for saying what he was thinking out loud, even if he doesn't intend to. Chris started to feel a little embarrassed after he had said what he thought of her truthfully and he ran a hand through his hair and looked away from her.
