Hey hey, the fifth plot is sounding fun to me. I'm a sucker for medieval rps.)

Alright. I assume you'll want to be the pirate, since you said you're craving a pirate thing. So I just have to figure out why my character would want to protect the ship. Hm.

Which version would you want to do? Prince and princess or prince and servant (or other prince/noble)? And which role would you rather take?

It's all good! I was thinking the second version, though I am fine with it either being another prince or a servant. You could decide if you'd like. And I would like to rp the first prince, if that's alright with you.)

That's fine with me. I would like to be a male as well though, so we could sort of combine the two. I can play a princess, but I'll also play another male character. Perhaps the princess's brother, or perhaps a servant. I'm not really sure which would be better. What do you think?

Hmm either would be good. I'm glad you like to rp mxm as well. I guess it depends on what you would like to rp. Whichever sounds more fun to you. They would both be very taboo and entertaining to rp. With another prince you would probably have more drama within the family, and with a servant it would be a bit different.)

Yeah.... hm. I think I'm gonna go with another prince for now.
Okay, so with that sorted... all we need is the exact setting/plot. Essentially, a reason for my characters to be in your character's kingdom/castle. And of course, at least a general idea of their kingdoms.
So, being more of a medieval fantasy theme, the kingdoms will probably be heavily European. Exactly what country you take your inspiration from is up to you. Being fantasy, it obviously doesn't have to be any one country, and while being a primarily European theme could easily take some aspects from other cultures. Mine will likely be a roughly even mixture of Romanian and English, with a bit of Norse thrown in at times.
As for the plot.... I can think of a few things. A) our kingdoms have a rather unstable relationship, and so our characters' parents are hoping to marry your prince off to my princess to help out with that. my kingdom is at war with a different kingdom. Your kingdom is neutral and our characters' families have a decent relationship, so my prince & princess have come to stay with you until the danger has passed. C) our kingdoms have a decent relationship and my character's family has come to stay temporarily for some kind of special event. Like a festival, wedding, signing of a treaty- something of that sort.
Let me know which of those sounds good, or if you have an idea of your own.

Hmm, they are all good ideas. I am leaning to either the first or the third one. The second one (and kinda the third one tbh) sounds like it could be incorporated into the rp later. Which one are you most fond of?)

The second, personally. But either of the other two work as well, so if you lean strongly towards one we can go with that.

I am perfectly fine with the second! All of them were well crafted and good ideas. What reason is your kingdom at war with another? And what kind of relationship should our two princes have. Should they initially dislike each other or are you leaning more towards one really liking the other?)

I would say their initial reaction to each other probably strongly depends on them as characters, and the circumstances of the roleplay. I generally don't like to plan too heavily two character's relationship ahead of time, and prefer to just let what happens happen. Most likely mine will be neutral to begin with, a minor objective opinion formed from what he's heard of yours previously, and what he knows of the kingdom and the family. As for you, that's up to you.
As for the reason for war.... I'm not entirely sure. There are a lot of reasons to go to war, I suppose. Resources, assassinations, ideals. It could very well be a civil war, too. Which, actually, would probably make more sense of the king/queen decided to send their children away; there's far more of a possibility of them being overtaken and killed if it's an internal threat. And again, there are many reasons for civil war. In this case.... I'm not sure. I'm trying to think of something that makes sense but doesn't villainize the royal family too much.... hm.
Okay, maybe it's a bit of both. So, the kingdom is actively at war with a different one, because the other kingdom has been doing things like attacking ships and traders and taking them hostage to demand ransome, encroaching on my kingdom's territory, making half-subtle threats, and the like. Things had been rather uneasy with them for a while, but the breaking point was other kingdom demanding that mine give over a large portion of land near the border, which my kingdom refused, causing the other to invade and take it by force. Obviously, mine fights back, but the other is more powerful. This causes my kingdom's king/queen to raise the taxes significantly to pay for the war effort. This only helps marginally, so they begin drafting people, as well as seizing property like land, ships, and that sort of thing. While it's partially justified, a lot of people don't think the war is worth all that and so are generally irritated. My character's parents fear that there may be a rebellion sometime in the near future, plus the threat of the other kingdom, and so they send us to a different kingdom until the war is over and things have settled. Your kingdom, therefore, is probably a good distance away and far removed from our political mess, but you would likely have at least a passive knowledge of the situation and a vague idea of the kingdom. And, vice-versa.

Very realistic setting, I like it. The growing tension between your kingdom and the other is good reason for the royal children to be sent over to a more or less peaceful kingdom.

It would also be interesting to see the difference in the demeanor of the characters, because obviously the two who grew up in a state of immanent war will be far more cautious and suspicious of things than the one who didn't. Though, I won't go too much into detail about their exact behaviors so as to leave some kind of surprise lol. Anyways, with that more or less sorted out, do you want do the rp here, on a different thread, or through PM? Any are fine with me.

Yeah, their personalities will vary a lot. As for rping, I am fine with PM or another thread. Having the ability to edit your posts is nice, but PM has less clutter. I personally would go for another thread, but this is your rp so feel free to choose.)

Alright, another thread is fine with me. Do you want to make it or shall I? Also, for this rp we should probably at least vaguely describe the setting and characters ahead of time, since they obviously will have known of each other before meeting, and know a little something about the others' kingdom. I'll write up a short description for mine and my characters' family overall. You can make up your own kingdom, or I can do it if you don't like coming up with those kinds of things. Either works for me.

Alright. I can make it, i'll post a link. As for the kingdom, if you have a specific setting in mind feel free to make them. If not, I would like to see the description of yours then make mine. I see them having a very different feel and setting. You sound as if you have an idea for yours at the least, so I would like to work around your ideas.
EDIT Here's the link

as for why your character would protect the ship, I suppose it all depend on what kind of character you want to use. let me know if you'd like me to help when it comes to figuring out a motivation.

Yes, I was preferring to be the merperson anyways lol. As for the type of character.... there's not really a way to specifically summarize him as a "type." It's just my main character that I use for most things. I would say he's not going to risk himself over something frivolous, so he's just gonna one day just be like "ya know I'm gonna follow this ship through monster-infested waters and fight things off for them." Similarly, he would be one to do non-risky frivolous things, so if the ship was just going along through safe waters he might follow out of curiosity. I'd say he would be more benevolent, though, so for example if someone fell overboard he would help them, or if he happened to be there and the ship got attacked he might help. But he's not going to follow along with the intent of protecting anyone, not unless he has a good reason to.

Hey guys sorry I haven't been on. In any case, I realize I made a mistake in my last post: he would NOT just randomly decide to follow the ship. Anyways, I'm thinking maybe he decides to follow the ship because humans aren't in that area very often? And then perhaps they get attacked by something- probably something that seems like a terrifying monster to the humans but is normal to him- and he decides to help out? And we could go from there.
As for the other... you still here, shoutsofwar? I'd be so up for cowboys lol.
