I know that I brought this up before, but I changed my opinion. I realized that I have nothing against gay warriors - heck, I even made OCs that would fit nicely together and they are the same gender.
What I meant to say was, I don't like canon gay warriors (MothXLeaf, IvyXBlossom, etc).

I support both, honestly. The only ships that I don't suppirt are thos crack ships. For me, there needs to be some base to ship two characters. Actually Leafpool spent so much time with Mothwing and she called her beautiful several times... that's why I like that ship. But then Crowfeather and drama happened.

I perfectly fine with gay couples. Nothing wrong with homosexuality. My favorite gay couple has to be RavenpawXBarley. I know it's not canon, but I could just always see those two as a gay couple.

I have nothing against the idea of gay pairings themselves, but for the cats... there are some factors which deter me from certain pairings, just opinion and personal interpretation-wise.
Barley is a good bit older than Ravenpaw (I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong), and so I can't help but see their relationship as a sort of father-son/college roommate kind of thing. ^^"
I just like single Ivy and kind of ship BlossomxThorn, so.
TallxJake is okay in my book though, I might not ship it but that doesn't mean it has to not exist. The only error I can find here is a lack of subtext, but I digress.

TallxJake and Raven and Barley are honestly the only gay warriors couples I like.
The others are either ehhhh or burn it alive (but that's usually crack shipping)
It's just that I haven't really found any couples that seems to have any implications that they're gay besides those two. It's possible for them to be platonic friends. This is the case for me with ships like LeafxMoth and BlossomxIvy, I just can't really seem them in a romantic ship together, especially since Leafpool is with Crowfeather and Ivypool is with Fernsong, plus I see Mothwing as aromantic.
But hey, this is just my opinion, and I'm fine with anyone else shipping Warriors characters, just as long as it stays healthy, doesn't involve massive incest (like brother/sister, mom/kit, etc.) and doesn't involve kits (as in the couple doesn't involve kits, not the result of the couple.)

I'm fine with gay pairings, but there's one thing that seems odd… The characters are cats, and I don't think there's a ever been recorded activity of homosexuality with animals in real life… So it seems a little less believable than it would be if it were two humans…

There has been homosexuality with animals in the wild? Where?
Also, I know they act like humans anyway, but Warriors also tries to be more realistic than other types of fantasies, so the gay couples felt like a break from the realism.

No, that's fine. I was just wondering because I don't much about that.

I don't ship warrior cats in general. Romance just always seemed to forced in the books. Either that or it was "forbidden". Because that hasn't been overdone yet...
Ravenpaw and Barely are the only characters that seem like an actual couple to me. Plus, they are really sweet.
As a queer man myself, I would love to see canon queer cats.
Also: These are feral cats with religion and politics. The only realistic thing about warriors is the weather. Having queer characters would add to the realness in my opinion. Considering just how real homosexuality is in nature.
It's very odd that such a large group of animals are all heterosexual.

I feel like the only characters who are canonically gay in Warriors are Ravenpaw and Barley. I don't remember Leafpool/Mothwing or Ivypool/Blossomfall being a thing (though Ivy X Blossom would have been cool).
Umm..I'm trying to think of other gay couples I thought of but it's been so many years since I've read the whole series and not just "waiting for each book to be released".
Oooh wait. Needle X Violet. Even though I want Needle to be with Rain because she annoys me and if she's with him then she can just go away. But Violetpaw loves her so much. Oh, and Tall X Jake.

Actually, there has been recorded homosexuality in animals! Birds, lions, dogs, cats, and equine animals (Horses, donkeys, etc.), so gay warriors could be a thing! Also, I recently learned the fact that if a warrior was homosexual, they were made into medicine cats to avoid awkwardness when finding a mate.

I mean warrior cats having romance period is unrealistic, so if you are going to add in romance just to make them more relatable to the readers then you shouldn't make them just relatable to straight readers. Personally, if I was rewriting it, I would just not have romance altogether, or have it be rare for cats to have that sort of relationship - normally they would have no real distinction of "platonic and romantic relationships", they would just have friendships, see each other as clanmates, and then sometimes you would have sex with a classmate though that's not considered particularly significant or a big deal (unless your a medicine cat, in which case it's forbidden). Sometimes those clanmates would be of the same gender, though it wouldn't be someone makes a big deal of.
In my rewrite ideas I do have a concept of a sort of political marriage that some cats would have, usually between respected warriors, where the goal is basically to improve the reputation of the cats involved and make sure the kits have a known father, given how much the Clans care about kinship (though most cats wouldn't have a known father, this would be just like "oh, if I have this sort of "marriage" with a respected senior warrior, then my kits will have two respected parents). Tigerstar and Goldenflower would have this kind of relationship, which obviously backfires when everyone finds out the truth about Tigerstar, as would Crowfeather and Nightclub. Cloudtail and Brightheart also did this even though they are young warriors and Cloudtail was born a kitty pet, just because Cloudtail loves Brightheart and absolutely does not care about the typical societal rules.

Since this thread came back I think it's time we have this discussion.
Anybody else think Bramblestar's canonically gay? He's got a man inside of him.

Nope. Please create a new thread instead of posting on one that is 4 years old. Please don’t necropost. If I have to make an announcement and explain it, I will. Thanks.
