INTRO
In the beginning there were two beings who awoke into the universe: Kione, the Lady of Shadow, and Eus, the Lord of Light. For eons the two danced together, a battle of change and stagnation, of growth and decay. Eventually, they fell in love, and together they had many children. However, they were not as powerful and all-encompassing; they could not embody the universe as did their parents, for they were only small parts of it. And so Eus and Kione tasked their eldest son Osarus with watching over his younger siblings and creating for them a place to live.
And so Osarus went within the universe, between the light and darkness, and from the power of both his parents he created stone. This would become the world, and here he carried his infant siblings so that they could grow and flourish and add to the land that he had created. And thus the world was born: barren stone, half the sky brilliant with their father's light, and the other half dark with their mother's shadow. Where to go from here?

ABOUT
To explain what this roleplay is actually about: this is essentially a creation myth. Essentially, the idea is to start from the very beginning, the creation on the universe, as a few deities who ultimately shape and create everything, including new deities as it goes along. More like Greek or Norse or Egyptian myth than something like Christian; ie, it's not just one God suddenly making everything, but several who over time interact with each other to shape reality.
This roleplay will start with only a few deities of the most base elements of the universe. As you saw in the intro, first are the deities of light and darkness, Kione and Eus, who are the "parents" of the next several. Essentially, the first two are the embodiment of reality while the others shape it. The first generation of deities past Kione and Eus will probably cover the base elements, but that's not necessarily the case.
The way this works, you see, is you don't make a deity who is (at least not at first) the "God of X." Like, your deity won't be born as "God of Fire" or "Goddess of Water." All deities are born with the same innate powers- essentially, the ability to manipulate matter and energy- but their personality and how they learn to use those powers will determine what they become the god[dess] of. IE, a goddess who prefers to use energy to create light or destroy may figure out how to create fire, while another who prefers to move the air may become the god of wind. They may also fight over certain "powers," which in turn will create "social" limits to what each deity can do, rather than an actual limit of their power itself. Like, even though the Water Goddess can manipulate the air, that would probably upset the Wind God and start a fight, and so both deities just stick to their own dominions.
Throughout the roleplay, obviously more deities will likely be born/created. While the world starts as barren stone, without even a night and day cycle or a sun, moon, and stars, the deities will shape it and likely- eventually- create life. They will interact, fall in love or make enemies, form plans and seek power or happiness, and overall it will just be drama on a cosmic level. Perhaps some will even become the "evil" gods/goddesses, embodying what's bad in the world instead of what's good. It all remains to be seen.

ROLEPLAY RULES
Follow the forum rules and ghost rules, which I shouldn't have to reiterate here. Primarily, though, no godmodding, spotlighting, or powerplaying. Obviously the characters- being deities- are extremely powerful, but that doesn't mean you can always win. It also doesn't mean that they're necessarily immortal; while they probably won't age, I'm sure there's ways to be destroyed.
On that note, don't roleplay other people's characters, or otherwise control their actions in any way, without their permission first. Also, do not effect them in any major way (such as injuring, killing, or otherwise attacking them) without allowing them to respond first. Any instance where a character is injured or killed in such a way will not be considered "canon" unless the roleplayer of the injured/killed character deems it so.
No mary-sues/gary-stus, and no "-ests." Your cat can be very good at something, but it's difficult to say that they're the absolute best at anything, even if they are deities. They still have to have some flaws; otherwise, how would they develop and the roleplay progress?
Obviously, keep things pg. That means no very graphic descriptions of violence, no foul language, and nothing else that would be considered inappropriate for children. Queer characters are definitely allowed (thought I should specify since some people would consider that 'inappropriate').
Try to be descriptive and original. Make replies long enough for others to reply to without making them so long that they get boring (unless, of course, the only way to relay an event is through a very long post. Then, go for it). Don't be redundant; try to change posts up, and give more than just "He walked to the fresh-kill pile and got a mouse" or "She padded out of the warriors' den and sat down in the sun." Describe how they did it, what they felt like or what they were thinking, what their plans for the day were, or anything else to spice it up and add some scope to the character.
I'm going to hesitantly say try to keep characters fairly realistic. Obviously this doesn't go for appearance, since these are deities who can obviously come in a lot of different shapes. However, try to keep their reactions and abilities realistic; ie, think logically through how they might manipulate matter and energy to obtain the desired result, and keep their reactions to situations consistent with their personality and experiences.
I reserve the right to reject any players that I don't consider literate enough or to remove players who don't obey these rules or contribute to the roleplay in an interesting and constructive way.
If you are gone for more than two weeks without prior warning, I will remove you and your characters will go to the inactive section. I will not go chasing you down; liking your posts should be reminder enough.
As for everything else, it's just the usual: please don't leave and never come back; if you're gone for a very long time without prior warning or explanation (probably a month+) you will be deleted; if you break the rules you may be deleted depending on the severity of your offense; please use () [] or something of the sort to separate in-character from out-of-character; no spamming unless you are requesting someone to go somewhere.

JOINING
Name:
Gender: (optional; you can get reasonably creative with this)
Appearance: (can be pretty much anything; doesn't have to be humanoid, especially not within the first few generations)
Personality:
Extra Powers: *
Other:
* Each deity may have one small, extra, special power. The standard powers are the ability to manipulate matter & energy and nothing else. IE, they cannot normally teleport, shape-shift, see the future, or have any special powers not included with their biology (ie, flight if they have wings, for example). Some of the powers listed above (teleportation, shape-shifting, divination, as well as others such as mind-reading or even minor time travel would be acceptable). Please make sure to be detailed about the limits of their extra powers, and don't make them too over-powered. Keep it fair; I must approve all powers before they can be used. There may be times in the roleplay where extra powers are granted through certain events, but we'll see.
