What happened to the cat names?!!!!
things were bad when fernsong, snowbush, slightfoot, and podlight were a thing, but WHORLKIT? WAVEPAW, CYPRESSPAW, AND SPARKPELT? what??? seriously?! what the shiz is a WHORL? like, spinning?? how stupid! what, did the erins run out of animals and colors to call the kits?? or even verbs??? really now. i honestly would have preferred sparkfire.....even though im hate the name spark. how would cats even know what sparks are? there's been like, no fires in thunderclan since forever. i think i would have preferred dandelionkit and juniperkit be alive than spark anything.

Actually the Erins wanted Sparkpaw's name to be Sparkfire or Sparkstorm but Harper Collins refused the names.
I agree with you about Whorlkit, but I actually like how creative they're getting. The cats would of course know what Waves are, and a cypress is a tree, so those names actually make sense.

The name Wavekit is fine, since it could be named after waves in the water, not as in a human waving their hand (or in this case a cat waving its paw)
Also whorl is a name for a type of fingerprint, but cats wouldn't know about this since they don't have fingerprints (and definitely don't study human fingerprints)

A whorl is basically a spiral pattern, and Whorlpaw and Cypresspaw along with a few others are named after BlogClan members, like how Ivypool is named after the daughter belonging to one of Vicky's friends.
As for Sparkpelt's name, I don't see a problem with it. The prefix is clearly supposed to be reminiscent to Firestar, since Sparkpelt is supposed to look exactly like him and her pelt is of course a fiery ginger. And the last time there was a fire was in Fading Echoes, so it wasn't that.

I think it's naming them after the "classic" tabby pattern.

That's the actual definition of it.

Fidgetpaw could be named after a twitch or something, Finpaw is named after a fish's fin, and Curlypaw could be named because of their curly fur (look up a selkirk rex cat). All of those are very feasible (especially with the way SkyClan's going), but Snipkit I don't get.

There is a bird species called a snipe, however from my research, there are no snipes in the Uk.

Well I have no answer then. Probably just another experimental name that makes no sense and is a bad name.

I dunno how they can be running out of names- just use old ones! Fuzzy, Robin, Blue, Gray, etc. Also, what happened to renaming elders?

I don't think anyone mentioned this. Many of those names were 'stolen' from BlogClan.
