So, here in Sweden, Halloween hasn't really been a thing until recently when American movies and culture started to shape our celebrations. The result of this is that nobody really knows when you're supposed to go trick or treating. Is it the 31st of October? The 1st of November? The Saturday before the 31st or maybe the Saturday after? Or, because we love Fridays more than Saturdays, perhaps the Friday before/after? And nobody's figured out at what time you're supposed to go either. Is it before dinner? That would make more sense, it's so dark after dinner. But, are you really supposed to go trick or treating when it's not even five yet? Maybe you're supposed to go in the morning? I honestly have no idea.
If only it could be as clear cut as going Easter witching, huh?

The Night of October 31st when the sun sets. The sun sets at a different time here, It sets at 6-8pm [cst // gmt -5:00] here depending on the time of year and 7/8pm is about the time people go out to trick or treat, and trick or treating can last to at least 12am and I looked up the sunset times in Sweden and it said it sets at 3/4pm? So 5/6 would be an appropriate time to go trick or treating and It could last in till 8-10pm? I don't know what time you consider it's "bed time" but here in America, Halloween goes past bed time by several hours - or at least where I am it does. My town goes trick or treating around 8/9cst. Dinner is at 6/7 typically, and it can last till 12am/1am cst, some towns near me will stay out even later. Here the normal bed time is 10pm.

Ah, alright, thanks ^^ Yeah, the sun starts setting around 2:30-3:00 this time of year and by 4:30 it's pretty much dark. 5 it is. I believe most people went around 4 this year, so not too far off then.

definitely not in the morning, no.
i know next to nothing about the geography or culture in Sweden, but in my region the day you go usually differs by town (or maybe county, though i'm not totally sure). for example, a town close to us went sometime last week, but our town goes tonight from 6-8 pm (I believe times differ by town / county as well).
also (at least around here) we never go on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays because that's usually people are having their Halloween parties and it's not always safe for little kids to be out and about.

So it's like an organized event? Like, the town will set a date and time and then everyone goes then? Wow, so organised, I had no idea!

So it's like an organized event? Like, the town will set a date and time and then everyone goes then? Wow, so organised, I had no idea! it seems that way but i honestly don't know ?? like as far as i know that's how it works because obviously different places are going at different times & we don't just let the kids loose onto the streets whenever they feel like it (the point is to give out candy, and there can't be a trick-or-treat without anyone prepared to hand it out), but i'm not sure i've ever seen where the times / dates are posted. i assume they're on the town websites but honestly we still just hear it from our parents I think (or like, my town has a Facebook page for information and stuff that everyone's on & it's probably all over there too).

We celebrate on October 31 as the sun goes down. Typically the whole country celebrates the same day, but some towns or areas might have their parties at different times. Like a few years ago there was a football game on Halloween in this one school district town, so they celebrated the day before (30th). But typically, the majority of people are out celebrating at the same time on the same day.

Trick-or-treating just kinda... happens lol.
People start when they want to but i would def suggest that you don't start till after.. mmm... 5 PM. People usually start around that time, or close to it. 31st of October like everyone said, doesn't matter if it's a weekday or not.

In my neighborhood, some people start as early as 3:00pm. Most go out between 5:00pm-8:00pm. I frequently have people knocking on my door around midnight, though.
Definitely on the 31st.

here is Murica it really depends on the situation and part of the US, but around here in the Pacific Northwest trick or treating happens when the sun goes down on October the 31st, which is around 5/6 PM PST.

My towns trick or treating was last night. In my area all towns have a specific day and time. If people just decide to go when they want then nobody who is passing out candy is actually prepared. Most wouldn't even have candy to pass out anyways probably. We have flyers that say when trick or treating is, and the rest know by word of mouth.
That's how it works in my area, anyways.

That's like, so organised though! I'm honestly impressed. We'll just get kids showing up at the door without warning. But then, if I've understood correctly, we don't get nearly as many as you do. We've had a dozen kids or so this year, but that's more than usual.

Organising it just makes things easier.
Except for people driving to work that night and kids are darting all around not paying attention to their surroundings. That's annoying

Yeah, towns just schedule it. Some of them always do it on Halloween (like mine - it was tonight from 5-7), some prefer to just do it on weekends (like a town in the area had theirs yesterday.)
