Mistkit's ears perked slightly at the mention of Snowdance, "I wanna be Snowdance's apprentice. Maybe I'll get to see Papa in my dreams again some day." she mewed hopefully, "I'll miss him too Featherkit. Lots and lots." Hazelblaze held her nieces close, the pain of the losses settling down on her shoulders. "You'll miss him forever, and that's okay. I miss Redspark and Mosspaw every day, but I know they're in Starclan watching over me and our clan and that makes me feel better. You might get to see Stormfury again in your dreams Mistkit if you do become Snowdance's apprentice. Starclan speaks directly to medicine cats and leaders." "Will you say hello to him for me?" Featherkit asked her sister shyly. "And tell him we miss him lots and lots, but hope that he is okay with StarClan? Please?" She blinked hopefully at Mistkit, not really understanding what it meant to speak with their ancestors, but knowing it was important. Mistkit touched her nose to her sister's shoulder in a moment of rare gentleness. "Of course, I'll tell him everything I can about what's going on with Mama and all of us. I bet he's going to miss us lots too." Hazelblaze smiled sadly, hoping that Mistkit and Featherkit would stay close as they grew. "I'm sure he's already missing you both."

“Thank you,” Featherkit breathed, seemingly satisfied by Mistkit’s answer. “I think Cherryvine will be saddest…she knew him longer than we did.”

Pantherkit looked in awe of his many scars. Then she looked down at her own body at the scratches and wounds that were scattered across her dark pelt. But then her eyes became happy as she realized that he had said that nighttime was when they operated. “I love nighttime. I used to get in trouble because I didn’t come home on time, but it seems like this might be the place for me. And if Cedarstar rejects me, then I’ll still go hunting at night as I please!” The idea of freedom was appealing to her greatly, although even if she wasn’t ‘free’ this clan would be perfect for her. Her eye glittered with happiness. “I want to learn to hunt, and stalk prey at night, and be cunning!” All of those traits and her thoughts seemed to weave a spell around her, and she became very determined that she would convince Cedarstar to let her stay. "Hmph..." Talltalon seemed silenced in thought again, before he grumbled. "Well. At least you're likely to fit in better than if we had found a lost kittypet. You're anything but fat and lazy, and you're young enough yet to develop the skills needed to survive in Shadowclan. Liking the night time is one case that will make your chances greater for being able to stay." He offered, slipping through the territory.

"Then there will be all these ears scattered across camp." Lightpaw giggled at the morbid thought, before she moved to assist Fuzzypaw in draining out the moss. She glanced up, before she tipped her head. "Do you think Palepaw's going to be okay? Cedarstar's been in the medicine den for a long time..." Brow creased in thought, Fuzzypaw hummed as she paused in her task, thinking. After a moment, she replied. "Cedarstar cares a lot about his kits, so he'd still be in there even if Palepaw was perfectly okay," she reasoned. "But he's definitely injured badly...but I think he'd got to be okay, at least for now." "If he were going to...well, if the wounds were that bad, they wouldn't have made it back here. I think infection is probably the big concern now?" "Prey-maulers are awful. They stink and are super strong. Scary too. But if Palepaw and Sunpaw both survived, then they got to be impressive fighters. Do you think Cedarstar will make them Warriors?" Lightpaw mewed honestly, glancing towards the medicine den again as she hung up some of the moss.

With another leap, Pantherkit jumped through the brush after him. While she was certain that she could convince Cedarstar to let her stay, she figured that she would need to be in tip top condition if she was going to live alone. “What’s a kittypet?” She asked innocently as she had to half run to keep up with his long strides. And every once in a while she would get her paw stuck on a stray vine, and she would have to stop and untangle it before bounding after Talltalon. All of this talk of stalking at night and maybe becoming a member of the clan made her forget the burning pain in her body, and for a little while it seemed as though everything would work out in the end.

"Kittypet's a cat who lives with twolegs. The furless two-legged creatures that build those complex nests." Talltalon explained simply, before he grunted. "Do you know what a twoleg looks like? Or did you not ever live near them?"

"Cherryvine is going to be very very sad little ones. She loved your father fiercely. It may take her many moons to go back to the cat you're used to seeing. If you ever need someone to entertain you, you come find me or Vixenflame okay?" Hazelblaze said softly.
Mistkit glanced toward the nursery with a frown, she had already sensed the change in her mother. Some of her light had gone out.

Gentleshade padded behind Talltalon and the kit quietly, the bundle of sticks in her mouth preventing her from adding much to the conversation. She kept a close eye on Pantherkit though, making sure she didn't fall or hurt herself.

There was no saving that one. "Palepaw, though...I think he might be too injured to be made a warrior just yet."

"Oh those things..." she had seen them before yes. They had walked around and at one point tried to kidnap her mother. "They make weird noises." She said, recalling the strange expressions and sounds they had made to the cats. "And they make fire's and cause smoke to come out of little rolls of grass. I tried sniffing one that they left and it smelled awful." [[Authors note I'm referring to cigarettes not weed XD]] It was still hot as well when she had tried sniffing it, and she had pawed at it after sniffing it which caused a small burn on her paw pad. Eventually it healed though and it didn't leave a scar or mark.

"I actually think I know exactly what you're talking about. For a few moons, I was in Twolegplace. Against my will, mind you." He grumbled, before rolling his eyes and continuing. "My apprentice and I saw many odd things twolegs did, and that was one of them. Apparently, they do that because whatever herb they're burning, it calms them down. Like a poppy seed, but... different. I guess their medicine Twolegs know different herbs than we do." He flicked his long tail, suddenly weighed down by the death of his apprentice again. He looked forwards, slouching and growing stern and cold once more as he hid his grief for Ravenpaw with his usual sternness.

Snowdance had moved on to chewing up what horsetail she had and was applying it to Palepaw's wounds, covering what wounds she could with the cobwebs that she had left over. She had already covered the apprentice's injuries with a poultice, but she wanted to be sure that she was able to get everything covered with her limited herbs.
Vixenflame was over by the nursery, inspecting the walls of the den. Truthfully, she wanted to keep an eye on Cherryvine, knowing that her sister hadn't taken the news of her mate's death very well. She gave a flick of her ear, noticing more than one hole in the den, planning on getting some materials soon to fix them.
Poppyflame's ear twitched as she looked for something to do to help get the camp cleaned up, not wanting to just sit around while the rest of the clan worked.
Leopardshadow pulled her kits close to her, wanting to keep them close to her while the Clan grew busy working on the repairs on the camp.
Skullkit turned his head towards the bush he normally liked to hide in, giving a small frown when he noticed how tattered and torn up it looked. It certainly wouldn't make a good hiding spot anymore now.
Beekit pressed into her mother's fur, feeling exhausted from the long trek back to camp.

It wasn’t in a winy or nagging tone but rather one laced with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm.

Coalhaze had spotted Vixenflame padding towards the nursery, and the large tom couldn't help but want to be near her. If anything, he wanted to make sure the camp was in shape again. Padding over towards her, he offered with a kind voice. "Need any help with that? I can reach the high up places for you, if you need." "The camp looks crazy..." Vulturekit frowned, unhappy with how everything looked. He noticed Skullkit looking at a particular bush, and he pawed his brother's shoulder. "Oi! What's wrong? Did you lose something over there or something?"

Unfortunately, this flood gives us the long way." Talltalon mewed, his voice steady as he brushed past a few fallen logs.

She shook the thought away before she asked. "Do you like Thistlestalk? He seems to be nice, you guys look like you work well together."

(Sounds good!)
She too wound around the logs, although she slipped when they had to go down a decline. Her depth perception had really been screwed up from the loss of her eye and every time she slipped or fell she was reminded of how she lost her sight. Her lungs were burning and now she was having to pause more often. Then, after a few minutes of excruciating pain, she stopped and began panting as she asked Talltalon, "Can we stop for like a minute? I just-" she winced as another sear of pain ran up her chest, "-need to catch my breath."

She shrugged sheepishly, her tail flicking back and forth. "He's also a great mentor! He's really brilliant at hunting and always knows the best way to teach me stuff!"
"Don't worry, I'm sure other warriors will make sure you stay on track. Raccoonmask is tough, too, so she won't stay down for long!"

We'll stop for a bit." He promised, having come too far to not invest in her safety now.

Taking a few deep breaths, Pantherkit soon felt a little better. There was less pain which was nice; and she could drink some of the water around them, although it didn’t taste amazing. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to flop over on the ground for the moment. But not for too long, because then she felt that she would fall asleep. So eventually she got back up and dipped her head to Talltalon. “I think I’m ready to go now.”

“We’ve done it before. I know we can find a way.” Lynxdapple mewed confidently. He glanced at Ratmask. “I was there when my brother thought of the process to catch vultures. He started on birds in Carrionplace, tucking into the Carrionpiles to wait while he used crowfood to bait them in. I thought it was dreadfully boring, and a waste of time at first, but I was proven wrong when I watched that big crow come down. For such a cold leafbare, seeing that prey was like seeing Starclan itself.” Lynxdapple recalled his younger moons with his brother fondly. “You of all cats should know that if we can’t use our claws to solve a problem, we use this instead.” Lynxdapple lifted a paw to point at Ratmask’s head, indicating his brain. Lilywhisper wanted to bluntly tell him that she didn’t care much for favors, but his offer to find a clean puddle to clean in was a good one. She nodded once. “Sure. You could use it too. So I’ll be nice and share it when we find one.” Ratmask nodded in idle thought. "Maybe we should tell Goldberry to start thinking of ways to catch other animals we never thought to use as prey." He suddenly laughed. "Maybe he could catch a prey mauler and we'll be able to feed the whole Clan?" Houndthroat huffed and flicked her with his tail. "Only if I use it before you. You'd just make the clean puddle dirty."

Littlemoon twitched her whiskers. "We seem to have a lot of cats with some sort of medical knowledge, don't we?" She followed Mouseclaw over to the plant and nodded. "Yes, that's it. I wonder if there's anymore around." She looked off, hoping that this plant was mature enough to send its seeds nearby. Whorlpaw looked sadly at her sister. "Remember the stories everyone told about AdderClan? They said the Dark Forest took over the Moonstone for a time. That's what led to the ShadowClan/WindClan alliance back then, before father was born." "We could have had another too." Mouseclaw murmured quietly, flashing back to Cedarstar's rash banishment of Opalmist. He shook his head, glancing around for more of the plant. "No other plants are jumping out at me. We should hurry back though, we're going to have to just take what we can from this plant." "Do you ever think an alliance like that could happen again? From the prey-maulers or something else? I can't imagine living with the other clans somewhere that wasn't our camp." Duskpaw mused, eyes lighting up as she found a small swath of cobwebs. Littlemoon glanced at Mouseclaw at his comment, but didn't say anything. She took one more scan of the area. "I'm not seeing anymore. Let's get what you found back quickly." Whorlpaw wrinkled her nose. "I don't know. I hope not because I don't want things to get so bad we need one, but it could be cool training with apprentices from other Clans. Father never talked much about his days at highstones."

Cedarstar let out a long sigh. "You're right, of course. There's just so much going on. I'm struggling to handle it all. The last thing I wanted was for something to happen to you and our kits." He pressed against Starrylight and brushed his tail against her swollen belly. "How can I keep our second litter safe if I can't even keep our first litter safe? The timing for everything is..." He trailed off with a shake of his head. "Protecting our kits is a clan-wide task. It's part of our warrior code. I would lay down my life for any of our clanmate's kits and I know they'd do the same for us." Starrylight murmured gently. "I know this isn't ideal timing, but we can't go back now. We can only do our best to keep all of our kits safe with the help of each other and our clanmates. " Cedarstar nodded and leaned against her. He watched Palepaw's heavy breathing, but at least his breathing seemed consistent. "I am excited, though," he muttered softly. "To meet our new kits. Palepaw, Whorlpaw, and Duskpaw will be great older siblings too."

Though, we joke, but I bet somehow, if any cat could, it would be him." He shook his head with a small smile, before he grew more serious. "I do think it might be a good idea to get some hunting plans going, if we need to resort to some clever wit to keep us fed. Got any ideas?" "If you use it first, then it will be too dirty to use." Lilywhisper pouted, her voice rich with sarcasm as she gave Houndthroat a small grin. She turned to look over at the puddles around camp, trying to find a good one.
