TIME SKIP TO THE NEXT DAWN, BEGINNING OF THE CEREMONY
----- Nightweaver stood tall on the Cliff Rock, watching as the clan settled in for the meeting. By now, everyone must know what it was going to be about. Bearpaw, Duckpaw, and Cloudpaw sat before him in a row. They looked exhausted. A full day of assessment followed by a night in the Labyrinth would do that to you though. He remembered his own night in the stone maze quite well.
His foliage green eyes roamed the crowd for their mentors. Copperslash and Mossfreckle were easy to spot in the crowd. They looked so proud. He couldn't help but frown knowing that Cloudpaws mentor would not be able to be here for the ceremony but he was sure they were watching from the afterlife.
"AstralClan, we gather here today to give these three apprentices their well deserved warrior names. They have passed their Trials and have earned their place as a warrior among our ranks. Apprentices, step forward." the leader bellowed, his voice carrying in the quiet dawn. The glowing eyes of his clan mates stared up at him in the dim light of morning as the sun slowly crept over the horizon.

Bearpaw was probably the most zoned-out of the three. He looked more than exhausted, he looked intoxicated from the trials of the maze. He stared down and had to be nudged by some mysterious cat behind him in order to know to step forward. It was then that he tried to make more of an effort to pay attention and not fall over basically dead. Blinking up at Nightweaver was easy enough.
Cobraslash indeed looked proud. He nodded haughtily to the leader, strange eyes caring an unknown darkness. As usual, Snakefang sat submissively at his side. She looked as about zonked out as Bearpaw, but was very well groomed. For a second, the tabby male casted a sidelong glance to Geistpaw. She seemed to be confused on whether to shrink from it or puff out her chest from it.

"I, Nightweaver, leader of AstralClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in their turn." Nightweaver called out and cast a brief glance at the sky before turning back to the three young toms standing before the Cliff Rock. Even through their exhaustion, they looked so proud. Especially Duckpaw, who had almost failed based on his Heart Trial. But Nightweaver trusted he would mellow into a more amiable cat with age. All three of them were ready to be warriors. "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Wildcreek sat at the edge of the den, her injured leg stretched out stiffly by her side as she watched the higher cliff. She couldn't see much from here but she let the familiar words of the warrior ceremony wash over her. Her ear swiveled towards her friend when he asked a question but she scoffed quietly. He still seemed so unstable and it worried her. "You've been to one before, not missing much." she called over her shoulder as she craned her neck to try and catch a glimpse of the apprentices.

"It started already." she told him with a small smile at his eagerness. Maybe he would be allowed out for the celebration at sunset. He was one of their only Lorekeepers after all. He would be needed to tell stories and regale the clan with tales of the past. The celebrations always took place at sunset, to give the new warriors some time to sleep and let the clan hunt so they could hold a big feast. "And its unlikley any of them failed. Duckpaw was trained by Copperslash. It didn't do him any favors personality wise but Copperslash is a strong warrior. Bearpaw was trained by one of the deputies and Nightweavers closest friend." Wildcreek rattled off with a bitter grimace that wasn't visible from where she sat turned away. "And, even if Cloudpaw did terrible, Nightweaver would probably chalk it up to grief and pass him anyway."
((Too bad were gonna skip the celebration. ^^; Next ceremony.))

"Well of course not." Piped up Batrain, in the conversation, referring to Raventail's previous question, "I'm sorry but you are injured and need rest. Stay here." In truth she wanted to get some work done organizing and counting, possibly a nap, but the ceremony was interesting too. It brought hope for the future into the clan. As she began to pad out of the den to check on it for a small second, her mind briefly grew dark. What of the omen she saw in the water that day? 'The water that went cloudy. The water that reflected Nightweaver's face...'
Bearpaw was nudged by Cloudpaw and he gave a small smile to him. He should be and appear more excited and proud. This day was theirs, and one they would remember forever. He shouldn't let his fatigue control him. Loudly, his deep voice boomed "I do!"

"humph you take the fun out of the ceremony," Raventail complained, although there was a tinge of amusement in his voice. The lore keeper was anxious, knowing that it was likely Batrain wouldn't let him out, even though he had his duties as Lorekeeper to keep up on. The thin black tom let out a cough, shivering in nerves, not liking being stuck in some nest while the rest of the clan was out and about. It was driving him insane, and he couldn't help but be worried about everyone in the clan, wanting to know everyone was alright, and not getting any clan gossip, most cats being too busy to even talk to the medicine cats about the clan news, so nothing was making it to his ears. I wish Webtangle would visit, or even Mossfreckle. He thought, his heart twisting for a moment when he wished his old mentor had come to visit him. It was her sister who abandoned us, and I want to know what punishment she got. Although I doubt Mossfreckle would tell me. "C'mon Batrain, please? Its not like I've moved at all for the past two days! Its killing me," He added dramatically, flopping over onto his back.

"Then by the powers given to me by our ancestors, I give you your warrior names!" Nightweaver announced loudly, his voice ringing out through camp. His gaze roamed over the three toms carefully before settling on Bearpaw. The leader smiled knowingly at him before clearing his throat. "Bearpaw, from this moment you will be known as Bearcharge. The Risen honor your loyalty and spirit, and we welcome you as a full warrior of AstralClan." He paused for a moment to settle the words settle in before turning to the two brothers. "Duckpaw, from this moment you will be known as Duckthorn. The Risen honor your determination and strength, and we welcome you as a full warrior of AstralClan." His gaze finally settled on Cloudpaw and he couldn't help but feel the pride bubbling in the pit of his stomach as he looked at the young cats. AstralClan was growing stronger each day despite their hardships. It was moments like these when he loved being their leader. "Cloudpaw, from this moment you will be known as Cloudchaser. The Risen honor your kindness and patience, and we welcome you as a full warrior of AstralClan."
He looked out at the gathered clan before him and puffed out his chest before beginning the chant.
"Bearcharge! Duckthorn! Cloudchaser!"

Wolfgaze and Adderfang chanted the new warriors' names along with the rest of the Clan, both filled with pride for the young cats. Adderfang fondly recalled his own ceremony and how excited he had felt to finally be a warrior. Wolfgaze's eyes fell upon the newly-named Duckthorn, remembering the trial she'd overseen. She knew that he would be able to put his strength and ambition to good use as a full warrior of the Clan, and raised her voice in support of the three cats.

... ↪ Yaaas Duckthorn <3 <3 <3 He's not evil just #rude and very grumpy but he's real stubborn about getting his way but at least it's just to be really good and impressive cx
... ↪ • Cloudchaser, Duckthorn | Camp w/ Gathering -- All the chanting was nice. This was their special moment and Cloudchaser couldn't imagine spending it with anyone else. With his best friend and his brother at each of his sides, the fluffy white tom felt like he was floating, but a rock was threatening to bring him down again everytime the fatigue and bad thoughts were trying to get the better of him.
His aunt, Mossfreckle, was one of the cats chanting the loudest, but whenever Cloudchaser looked back at her, he thought he caught her looking a bit fretful and secretive almost. He'd need to ask her about his missing mother if he could get the chance. There was going to be a celebration and then a vigil so that may not be possible. The newly-appointed warrior just couldn't believe that Honeythroat wasn't here trying to dote on them like always. Sure Cloudchaser may have been distancing himself from her, but that's just because he was trying to grow up and be more independent.
Something had to be wrong and it was devastating that nobody had tried to talk to him. Was it to keep him from getting distracted during his trials? He'd rather hear bad news and tough through it, but his anxiety got the better of him a lot so perhaps this was best. It was really concerning though. His wonderment and lack of focus was making him give Nightweaver a very glazed-look.
Duckthorn was showing-off. The ceremony was great and all, but he wanted to start living his life as a warrior and enjoy a nice celebration before getting straight to work the next day. He just wasn't aware that the clan would be spending a lot of their attentions on Bearcharge and Cloudchaser over him. In fact, the only cats he could tell were actually saying his name with pride were Mossfreckle, Copperslash, and surprisingly Wolfgaze even after the tough time he gave her during his body trial. His mother wasn't even around for this.

"Chanting- I hear chanting! Batrain, Wildcreek come on," Raventail whined, squirming in his nest impatiently. Honestly, the lore keeper was as bad as a kit when it came to waiting, it had been that way since the moment he was born. "Someone tell me what the names are, I can't make out the words," He added, trying to get up, but his legs were still shaking so he ended up slowly crouching back down. It didn't matter if his mind had healed- his body hadn't, and it was driving him insane.

(I'm just gonna jump in here)
Hollowpaw chanted the new warrior's names with the crowd. Hollowpaw was practically glowing with pride for the three of them. It was always a wonderful thing to see new warriors in the clan. It gave the brown apprentice hope that he would one day reach that glorious status and one day they would be chanting his name. For a moment, he pondered just what his name would be. With a shake of his head, he dismissed the thought. I'll get there when I get there. It will happen as long as I stay determined and focused.
Frostpaw watched from the outside of the crowd, smiling brightly and raising her voice to the sky. She always loved seeing the clan all in one spot, united in the arrival of new warriors. It made her hopeful. The she-cat puffed her chest fur out in a slight sense of pride in all the cats around her. I love seeing harmony instead of strife. It's reassuring. For the first time in a while, the apprentice felt safe in her skin. With a deep breath, she sat down and relaxed for what seemed like the first time in moons.
(I'm gonna peak my new charries in here real quick)
Blazewing had somehow gotten her brother to join her in the center of the ceremony despite his nature to stick to the outside. She fixed her blue gaze on her brother and nudged his shoulder in an attempt to make him a little more comfortable. "Seems like just yesterday we were in that place doesn't it?" She mewed to him
"You can say that again." His voice was tense as he stood rigid in the center of the cloud, constantly shifting his eyes over and back again. "I feel old." It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the ceremony, because he did, it was just his nature. While his sister may have loved to be the center of attention, he absolutely hated it. The thought of everyone gazing into his very soul was petrifying.

"Oh hush youre acting like a kit!" Wildcreek snapped at him without much venom in her voice. She looked at him over her shoulder and her sharp blue gaze softened slightly at the sight of him sitting miserably in the moss nest. A sigh escaped her and she shook her head. "Their names are Duckthorn, Cloudchaser, and Bearcharge..." she muttered and bent to lick at her chest fur as she watched the clan start to go their own way to prepare for the celebration that could be happening at sunset. The new warriors would get to catch some sleep and she should probably do the same. She hobbled back to her own nest and dropped down with a huff before starting to get comfortable.

Three Moons Later Nightweaver sat on the Cliff Rock, the chilly breeze ruffling his short pelt as he watched his clan breaking off into patrols. The sun was sitting low on the horizon but the sun was shining weakly through the murky gray clouds. It was clear it was leaf-bare now even though they had been fortunate enough to avoid snow for the moment. Still, he knew it would come sooner of later.
A shiver ran through his body and he shook out his pelt to try and bring a little warmth back to it. Two spotted pelts streaked past him and he watched Drizzledance chase his sister towards the camp entrance. Pearseed did not look too annoyed but he suspected this was her brothers way of making sure she was awake for her patrol. It seemed like the apprentice den was empty now with the siblings and Geistwisp earning their warrior names. Hollowpaw was do for his as well soon. Then Fawnpaw would be all that was left until the kits were apprentices and she would nearly be a warrior by then! How quickly they seemed to grow. They would be in need of more kits soon...The older cat softly smiled to himself and settled back on to the stone, deep in thought.
--
Galerush sat near the drinking pool with a half-eaten mouse, taking his time to enjoy his meal. He knew now that leaf-bare set in it was unlikely he would keep eating as well as this. For now, the prey still ran but that would soon change. But they had a lot of warriors to try and keep the clan well fed and not many kits or elders to take care off. It would make his job easier at least.
The tom was distracted by his musing when he saw the sleepy, staggering form of Wildcreek stumbled up to the fresh-kill pile. Her eyes were barely open and her fur definitely hadn't been groomed if the bits of moss stuck in the silky tresses was anything to judge by. He scoffed at her groggy state and turned back to his meal. Not his mate, not his problem!
--
Willowcurl, for once, slept peacefully. Graykit, however, did not. The little tom had been awake since the crack of dawn. He had stayed still and quiet in his nest, curled against the warmth of his mother and siblings, and listened to the sounds of the clan waking. Distant voices and the calls of birds and rustling brush had nearly lulled him back to sleep until one of his litter mates kicked him in the head while they were asleep.
Another kick hit him, this time in the face. That was it! He wasn't just going to sit here and let himself be used a sparring partner for whichever of his siblings was living out their fantasy of being leader in their dreams. Graykit wiggled out from under his family and clumsily rolled over the edge of the nest. He hit the chilly ground with a huff and immediately bolted up. "Cold!" he squeaked, the chilliness of the ground contrasting starkly with the warmth lingering on his pelt.

Snakefang shivered in the medicine cat den. Her eyes were becoming milky, for some reason, and the woman herself had become nearly mute. Batrain was fussing around the smaller she-cat. She couldn't quite figure out the cause of the selective mutism, but her eyes nearly looked... damage. "Were you wounded hunting? Did you fall, or get something in your eyes?" Snakefang merely mumbled a 'perhaps'. Batrain shook her head and went to her herb supplies. Saving the eyes were of great importance.

Raventail was fast asleep next to Wildcreek, the black lore keepers flank rising and lowering slowly as he dreamed on. His eyes never recovered from the attack, an infection leaving him in the medicine cats den far longer than his companions as Batrain tried to save his eyesight. Now he was trying to get back to his duties to the best of his current abilities, trying to reteach himself hunting strategies and some sparring moves. The tom let out a soft sigh in his sleep, rolling over, stirring at the sudden loss of warmth as he moved away from his... friend, before falling back into his slumber, not waking until he was called upon. -- Mockingkit rolled over, surprised at how much space was in the nest, and then suddenly none at all when Falconkit returned. The tiny kit opened her eyes in confusion, seeing her brother peering over the nest. The grey and white she cat got onto clumsy legs and stumbled over, peering curiously, looking surprised that Greykit was on the ground. "Hey! Come back!" She squeaked, setting two tiny paws over the edge so she could get a better look, leaning forward, and then tumbling out of the nest herself and into her brother.

Hollowpaw was up and ready to face the day. The apprentice had matured a significant amount in the past three moons and now held himself in higher regard. He had made it this far and had no plans of stopping now. He gave a large stretch, his dark tabby pelt rippling over his shoulders. Kneading the ground, he scanned the clearing for his sister. His green eyes lit up when he saw her padding over to him.
"Now there's no need to show off Hollowpaw." Frostpaw rolled her eyes at her brother as he stretched. The silver tabby pressed her nose into his flank. "You'll be a warrior soon. I am proud of how far you've come brother." She sat next to him, wrapping her tail around her paws. "There is something I must express to you. I do not really know how to describe it."
Hollowpaw tilted his head at his sister, his ears perked up. Whatever this was, she seemed really worried about it, with her constant shifting and bristled fur. "You can tell me anything sis." He pressed his pelt to hers in an attempt at comfort.
Frostpaw sighed and shook her head slightly. "I have this feeling that everything is closing in. Perhaps it is my lack of sleep, or stress, but I cannot get my mind off of it."
Hollowpaw licked her cheek. "Hey, if anything happens, I will be here to protect you. Not to mention, you will be there for the clan! I know you doubt yourself, but when push comes to shove, you'll be ready."
Oakstep sat on the edge of the camp, observing the clan from a distance. It was amazing, he was in the clan, and yet he felt as if he was always on the outside. At the same time, he was too scared to push himself into the group. With a sigh, he pawed the dying grass, fixing his green eyes on his paws. He was having an internal argument with himself.

xfogpathx- I thought maybe Wolfgaze could visit Willowcurl now if it's not a bad time?)
Wolfgaze crept out of her den, unable to sleep in like she had originally wanted due to the warrior beside her fidgeting in their sleep. Yawning, the gray she-cat padded towards the nursery, hoping to see her sister Willowcurl for the first time in a short while. As she approached the den, she recalled her own time in the nursery, curled up against her mother's warmth and surrounded by other kits.
