we're all recently escaped experiments holding up in some abandoned warehouse. jump in with any character. i just ask that you post their name and ability first.
setting: futuristic world. they reside in a city surrounded by enormous, stone walls. they're goal is to escape by moving to the other side of the wall. the city, while technologically advanced, is dominated by crime and plagued by disease. the last hope for humanity is failing.
cryptic - possible character(s)
Delaney Sophia Jones23 | Female | quiet & self-assuredDelaney possesses some very boyish features. She dresses in men's attire and utilizes many of their mannerisms. Growing up, she was often teased for her demeanor and clothing but has come to accept it as part of her person. Though quiet, she can be very assertive at times. She's not afraid of voicing her opinion aloud. Because of her background, she's very defensive, often challenging another's words despite their lack of animosity.Faceclaim: Lea Seydoux
Loni Eleanora Simons27 | Female | whimsical & sweetLoni's a very imaginative, very active mind. To channel this energy, she pursues the sciences and art - often trying to expand her horizons through knowledge and creativity. Her attire has become something of a game as she tries to find a theme for each week and dress accordingly. Whether this be punk or romantic, she'll find a way. Because of her nature, she can be easily manipulated. She's naive and far too quick to trust.Faceclaim: Yasmin Wijnaldum Ruth NeggaFinley "Finn" Joanne Adler27 | Female | assertive & selfish Finley's a few dozen tattoos on her back, torso, and shoulders. She's put them in places that are readily concealed by garments. She is largely someone who does things in her own interest and seldom for another unless it somehow benefits herself. It takes strong connections or valid reasons to break her of this. She is bisexual.Faceclaim: Nadja AuermannBenjamin "Ben" Howard Hughes24 | Male | ambitious & manipulative Ben is on the fence about his sexuality. He's never really exhibited any attachment or favor of liking to any one person in particular. He knows he attracted to certain people but this can be to someone of any gender or orientation. He's the strange assumption he's gay (or at least bi) and it terrifies him.Faceclaim: Gaspard Ulliel Fredric Ferro Delgado36 | Male | quaint & compassionateFaceclaim: Perdro Pascal
Names: Maverick, Malachi & Enoch For this roleplay I'm using Ben, Delaney, and a new charrie named Kennedy. Ben's 17 and Delaney's 16. They've only got first names. Delaney's ability is currently under development. All she knows is that there is a voice in her head which calls itself Rage. Ben has a pair of metal wings. They're bullet proof and sharp to the touch. Both were created to be weapons in the war. Kennedy is invisible. He was born so and remains so at the age of 16. The only thing keeping him visible is the clothes he wears.
› ɴepтυɴe's - characters
Ramona ; 16 yrs old ; female Short, olive-skinned and spunky, Ramona is startlingly optimistic and bright-eyed despite the bleak situation she's lived in since birth. The girl is 5'2", has a mass of wild dark brown wavy, and hazel green-brown eyes. While not having much control over it, Ramona is able to manipulate earth. A weapon of "natural disasters," if you will.
Aiden ; 18 yrs old ; female Aiden is tall, stoic, and steely. Her skin is pale, and she has dark brown, beady eyes, thick dark eyebrows, and a shaved head. Her black hair is cut close to her scalp in a buzzcut-type look. On the back of her head, a long gnarly scar can be seen cutting through her hair. Surprisingly enough, Aiden is toned and muscular, and healthy looking, having been trained ruthlessly on a day to day basis. Aiden's ability is having impenetrable skin. When fighting, it turns into a dark gray steely color, metallic in appearance. She was meant to be the perfect soldier.
willowflower's - characters
~ Ari A sixteen-year-old transgender boy who can manipulate physics and states of matter so that he can pull water and fire out of thin air and manipulate the stuff. He's not good at it practice-wise, even if he's got the theory down pat. Clever but his emotional state is incredibly volatile.
~ Lindy A nineteen-year-old girl who has enhanced speed and strength and has been trained to be a fighting machine. She'd more likely kick a door down than puzzle out the lock. Has given herself extra responsibility for looking out for the others since she's the oldest (for now x3).
Drip. Drip. Drip.
The whole place reeked. It was damp with water and falling apart after years of abuse. Sun - or the closest thing to it - shone through the blanket of pollution, passing through broken windows and a nearly collapsed roof. The warehouse creaked and moaned, voicing its aches and pains aloud for anyone within range of its dark enclosure. This place was decades old, rotted and falling to pieces, but Ben loved every bit of it. It was so unlike the lab they were raised in, so different and mysterious, that he couldn't help but become excited by it. As he stepped foot in the cavernous expanse of the main floor, his head craned to stare up at the ceiling, so high and practically nonexistent. A smile turned the corners of his lips.
"You think this would be a good place to stay?" It was Delaney, her voice calculating and doubtful. "Oh, I know it!" Ben turned to look down at the broken tile, the dirt that crept through and grass. "Isn't this great?" Delaney stared at him for a moment, her brows drawn together as she questioned him silently. "No, Ben. It's not." Ben pursed his lips and waved her away. "It'll do fine for the night. We just need a place to rest."
They knew little of this outside world, their knowledge significantly limited to what the scientists had permitted them to hear and see. They knew that the last scraps of humanity were desperately clawing they're way out of a twenty year war. They knew that they were struggling to survive in a world polluted by chemicals and poisons, unnamed and unseen. He'd thought it tragic at first but, seeing it now, he was absolutely captivated by its magnificence. Everything was so alive out here. The wind tumbled weeds and stalks of yellowing grass. The sky billowed with grey clouds and black smoke. It was beautiful and a stark contrast from white walls and ammonia.
Delaney turned, her white garment twirling at her knees. She looked around with distaste and, at the core of it, fear. "What are we going to eat? We need clothes and water. Where are we going to get that?" Ben was silent for a moment as he thought it over. Clearing his throat he sauntered up to the step of a towering staircase and took a seat. "The city." She scoffed. "And how do you suppose we blend in, hm?" Ben crossed his hands together and set his elbows atop his knees, his wings flexing behind him. "Anybody got any ideas?" He asked, looking around.

lol no problem!! & thank u c': i'll probably add in my boy dante later too. face claims are such a struggle tbh also i feel like i should explain ramona's powers a bit more. if you've seen avatar the last airbender, they're pretty similar to toph's. being able to move and control earth, and feel vibrations and movements through it. if that makes any sense idk )
The smell made Ramona a bit nauseous; while the harsh cleaning chemicals were no better, they were what she was familiar with. This world, on the outside, smelled so... disgusting, but real. Genuine. Nothing felt artificial out here. The girl had bent over a bit to run a finger over a blade of grass. It was yellowing and dried up, but still alive. She had interacted with plants before, unlike some of the others. The doctors made her use her powers on small potted plants, and on once rare occasion, a sealed off section that was outside. It was a pitiful excuse of a backyard, with towering cement walls that only left a square of dirty sky to be seen. Ramona remembered that was a bad day. When she got upset, her powers were volatile. She vaguely remembered hearing the word 'earthquake' before she was sedated.
"Anywhere is better than back in there." The tiny girl piped up after a minute. From the wall of the cave, Aiden nodded in agreement. As usual, she was silent, simply watching events unfold. She agreed with Ramona, though. And she knew the others did as well. Anywhere was better than being back inside, where the walls were a white void and she was forced to fight. "Maybe there's some kind of underground to sneak through? If there's a cave like this, I bet there's more. I can feel some echoes." At that, the girl flexed and wiggled her toes a small bit. Wow, was it loud outside! In the labs, Ramona never felt so much happening all at once. It was hard to distinguish what was what. But the longer vibrations, like echoes, told her that there was a lot of space somewhere underground.

[ that's cool. c; it's actually a great explanation. toph is beast. i love her. but, yeah, i think i get it. i'm sure we can clear things up through rp, also.
just fyi, they're actually in a warehouse. not a cave. sorry if i read that wrong. having something underground is fine, though. ]
- Delaney turned her head toward Ramona, uncertainty etched plainly across her face. Contrary to popular belief, she'd actually enjoyed the facility. She'd been a child of the scientists and had known no other life outside of those white walls. To her, she'd run away from home to be with a small, ragtag group of people she barely knew. Her decision to do so - the impulse and initiative she'd taken - terrified her.
Of course, the decision wasn't all yours. Stop taking all the credit.
As the voice spoke, Delaney became very still, listening to both it and the conversation outside of her head. It's company, at first, had been something to fill the void. Scientists barely spoke to her aside from giving her instructions or making their observations. She'd even been kept from the others, locked away in some cell as they all had been. Increasingly over the month, it'd become almost unbearable to listen to. It made suggestions, told her things that were entirely unnecessary. Things she'd regret thinking should anyone find out. She wanted it gone in this moment - or at least quiet - but it was seldom ever dormant. Shush, she told it.
She swept her gaze around to be sure she hadn't drawn attention but they were all too focused on their present situation to bother. Delaney was grateful. Feeling something brush her arm, she looked over to see the floating garb of Kennedy. "Do you know if they lead to the city, though? We could wind up anywhere following tunnels."
[ i kind of took it as she was volunteering to find the underground and clear it and everything. . . reading over it again, i can see that you might have meant her just feeling them. i can change this if you need. ]

"I think it could be better than wandering around in public with these clothes on." Aiden piped up, arms crossed across her chest. Staying hidden would be better for Ben and Kennedy, at least. Her, Ramona and Delaney didn't look very different from any other average person. Except for the gowns. She didn't think that was something normal people wore. She had seen men and women in their fancy suits once or twice, when the scientists felt like showing her off like a circus animal, and the scientists with their white lab coats and crisp black slacks, but not much else.
Ramona glanced between everyone in the group, thick eyebrows furrowed. "Maybe something else would be a safer bet. I'm just working with what I've got." After a moment, she pulled over a sturdy old crate, and gingerly sat down. God, she had no idea what to do. They were going to be caught and hauled off, Ramona knew it. "Kennedy, you're invisible. You don't think you could steal us some clothes from somewhere nearby?" She asked, "Then it'd be easier for us to get around."

Kennedy looked doubtful still, glancing over at Aiden. There were too many risks associated with traveling underground. Too many ways for things to go bad. Their safest bet would be traveling on the surface. Turning to face Ramona as she spoke, Kennedy immediately went still at her suggestion. "Alone?" The word was out of his mouth before he'd time to refute it. In all honesty, it was their best bet. He was invisible and could sneak enough out unnoticed. But it didn't me he couldn't be fearful of the thought of getting caught. They'd just escaped. He was as far as he'd ever been from the facility and had no intention of going back. What if he was discovered? Who would help him then?
"We didn't escape to become thugs." Delaney's remark was far from rational but he was grateful for it. It was something to break the silence that had ensued.
Ben shook his head. "No, Ramona's right. There's no other reasonable solution." He grimaced, looking toward's Kennedy. "I know-"
Kennedy cut him off. "Don't. Anything you say is just going to sway me farther from the idea. I'll do it." He brought his hands up, curling them into fists in his hair. Jumping slightly with pent up anxiety, he let out a long breath. "Woo. Yeah, I got this. Just - uh - wait here." Stepping from the group, he headed outside.

Aiden's eyebrows raised at Delaney's quip. "You have a really interesting idea of what a thug is." She said bluntly, but she became more concerned as Kennedy quickly agreed. "You don't have to go alone, I mean-" Too late. She watched the seemingly floating clothes walk away, and let out a long sigh. Maybe there was a house or something nearby, and he wouldn't have to be gone for an extended amount of time. So far, they were in a really bad situation. Holing up in an old warehouse wasn't the best idea in the world. At least they had a roof over their heads, but still. The place almost felt haunted. It was creepy. They needed to keep moving.
"Does that mean Kennedy is gonna walk around naked? Oh my god." Ramona deadpanned, and looked mildly horrified at the thought. "Jeez, we should at least get someone to go with the poor guy. Or would that be awkward? Jesus, what are we even doing." The brunette was notably anxious, flinching at the sound of wood creaking in the old building and fiddling with her hair. This was crazy.

((Cool ikr? my favorite episode is s2e1 - the time splitting one? ahhh so good))
A frown pulled at the corners of Lindy's mouth. "I don't like him going alone," she said, standing up. "Someone should at least watch his back in case something happens." Her gut clenched horrifically at the thought. If Kennedy was caught, how would they know stuck in here? They'd just be waiting for too long, checking too late. Lindy hurried after him, the vision a brief blur as she easily crossed the distance in far too little time to be natural.
Ari huddled in the corner a good distance away from everyone else, concentrating on the softly hissing spark between his hands. He abruptly cursed loudly as it fizzled out.

[ same, willowflower! i love trying to find all of the differences between shots. ]
For once, Kennedy was almost appreciative of being invisible. He could feel warmth rush to his cheeks as he pushed back the wooden plank barring entrance to the warehouse. Hearing Lindy's comment, though, he slowed. He was both eternally grateful for her company and horrified by it. Waiting outside the door, he turned toward it, speaking as she came through. "You don't have to come. Honestly, I'll be fine." He didn't know if he could sound any more unsure.
Ben watched them go, sinking back against the railing to the staircase. At Ramona's words, his frown deepened. "Just. . don't think about it. Lindy's going. They'll be fine." He said the words as if to reassure himself. In all seriousness, he'd no idea what they were doing. He'd never been beyond the facility's bunker. He'd heard stories and read what he could in their very restricted library, but this was nothing compared to the actual thing. With a sigh, he lowered his gaze to the ground. He'd been in such a great mood earlier. This place was unlike anything they'd ever seen before. It was physical and new and worth their while. They deserved this - the freedom. Why couldn't they just enjoy it. Clapping his hands together, he pushed off the railing. "In the meantime, maybe we can look for a place to sleep tonight? Fortify this place a little."
Delaney scowled, hugging her arms closer to her chest. She was obviously dissatisfied with their decision but said nothing, choosing instead to remain quiet after Aiden's remark. Punch her. Just do it. It'll make you feel better, it encouraged.

((Yeah! I can't stop rewatching it))
Lindy, still trying to get used to Kennedy's invisibility, couldn't help but feel as if her heart jumped like a startled rabbit at the sound of his voice coming from nowhere. She managed to keep her body from betraying its alarm and crossed her arms. "I might not have to come, but I'm coming anyway, because I am not just going to sit and twiddle my thumbs wondering if you got yourself caught, hurt, or worse," she said firmly. "Of course you're going to be fine. Because I'll be here making sure of it." She surveyed the land, scoping out places where she could hide and keep watch. "I'll just be looking out for trouble," she said, more softly. "So that if anything happens you don't have to face it alone." The acknowledgment that Kennedy would probably lose the clothes to take full advantage of his invisibility crossed her mind. "Though, if it makes you uncomfortable -" she halted in her train of thought. Would it still be the same if he were invisible? Still, she thought, he'd probably still feel vulnerable - but at the same time isn't that more the reason to keep watch? "- I'd understand," she finished. She came to the conclusion that she didn't want to make him feel even more exposed than he'd already be.
Pursing his lips and dropping his hands in disappointment as the failure, Ari finally looked up and around at the worried faces. He scowled. "Why's it so dreary in here?" he muttered grumpily, uncrossing his legs and extending them to stretch them out. He listened long enough to hear Ben finish his suggestion before growling, "Who made you leader?" The very thought of obeying someone else after finally getting out of the clutches of those stupid scientists demanding things left and right ignited indignance in his belly.

Kennedy swallowed, nervously teetering from toe to heel. Rubbing the back of his neck, he considered her words. More than anything, he wanted her to stay. He was terrified of what might happen should someone actually find him. The chances were slim but there all the same. Nobody wanted to be alone, him more than some. The thought of it so soon after their escape, when so many were already searching for them - it was dreadful. Still, though, he had his doubts. "Mm," he thought, "it might be best if you tagged along. I'm pretty much just a twig. If someone does get a hold of me, I'm toast." He chuckled uneasily. "Just kind of hang back. I'll tell you where I'm going and shout if anything happens." Looking about, he searched for possible targets - something with hope of return. There were no neighboring structures, only a few distant shambles on the near horizon. "Suppose we should try there?" He asked, pointing with his sleeve.
Ben held up his hands defensively at Ari's retort. "I'm merely making a few suggestions. Something to keep us busy. Besides, I don't see you doing too much." He threw his words back at Ari, not completely anticipating the consequences.
[ maybe we can do a small skip in the morning? i've got to go for now. g'night!! ]

Omg sorry I never replied to ur other one, man xc Also I apologize beforehand for the gifs/pics, I can't help myself Fc: Erika Linder Kip Sterling 5'8, 18 years old, an encouraging and caring friend, forever a diplomat and joker. They are an empathic telepath, with powerful telepathic and psychic abilities, but which rely solely on their emotions. This tends to make it seem as though inanimate objects that they unintentionally manipulate, are actually alive. The best example would probably be the scarf that they are always seen wearing, which, being so closely linked to their mind, acts without their concentration, as if the thing were alive. Fc: Natalie Westling Blair Rosamund 5'10, 17 years old, an anxious worrier who overthinks things, although seems to function pretty well in dire situations, purely off instinct. She tries to be kind and optimistic, but nonetheless tends to be a downer. Her power appears to be more of a disease infecting her slowly. The experiment was intended to give her immense strength and speed, which kind of worked. At the same time however, she takes on a monstrous appearance, with flaky, scaly black skin, and claws. It looks like someone drew up a stereotypical and then injected that into a person. However, the "disease" currently only effects her right arm, a thick wrist band with tines that embed just above her elbow slowing the outward, physical effects. I can't rp tonight but tomorrow I swear I will lol

((Morning!)
Lindy nodded, slightly relieved that he agreed to let her stay. She couldn't imagine the anxiety piling up in her chest if she couldn't offer assistance. "Okay, sounds good," she said. She turned towards the direction the sleeve was pointing and squinted. It looked like a good trek, though likely wouldn't take long - then again she was probably not the best judge for distance and time. She wondered if they should have left a time warning behind with the others - If we don't come back in thirty minutes we might be goners. "Looks like our best bet," she agreed. "Lead on, I'll drop back when we get close enough for me to hear you yell."
Ari easily took that as a challenge and leapt to his feet, stumbling a little. "Oh, you wanna go?" he demanded childishly. "You're not the boss of me, I do what I want when I want!" The power of freedom was intoxicating - he didn't want to feel as if he were surrendering it, even for a second.

Green eyes darted between Ben and Ari, and Ramona couldn't help but agree with Ben. There wasn't any harm with suggestions. The idea of them having a leader didn't sit well with her; she was tired of being told what to do, being controlled by people who thought of her as something lesser. Especially when she had more power. But, if they worked together, they'd get more done. Ari's sudden exclamation made her jump, and the girl got up immediately as well, hurrying over to the two. "Ari, stop!" Ramona had rushed between them, hands held up to keep some distance. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see that Aiden had stepped forward as well, hands clenched into fists. "Please, we are not going to fight, or have leaders, nothing like that. Everyone should contribute, everyone helps decide what we do, okay? We have to work together, otherwise we'll get caught and hauled off!" It was obvious how worried Ramona was. If they couldn't keep it together now, they'd just fall apart later on.

Ari glared at Ramona and held her stare for moment, as if trying to find something in her words to snap back at, but then dropped his gaze. "Fine," he grumbled, crossing his arms and turning away from the group. His face felt too exposed - he wished he had a hood to drag over his head. He knew all too well that he was acting out of turn - one part of him flailed around a lot and screamed it didn't care, but another part felt deeply embarrassed and wished it could cage his fear and anger in a locked box and fling the thing into the abyss. "Whatever. Who's doing what?"
