For me, I get so many ideas and then I get really into one idea and construct an awesome plot, with awesome characters, and backgrounds, history, the whole gist. Then I find a new idea and I just...loose interest for the time being for the old idea. Then the process repeats itself.
I really need to learn how to stick with one story idea at a time.

It's like...I wanna write them all, but at the same time, I have lost my muse for like...half of the ideas.

In an interview I read once, author James Patterson said that he has a similar issue. What he does, then, is take the ideas, write all of them down on any paper is nearby when he has them (if they're spur-of-the-moment, otherwise just write them down in general) and stick them in a manila envelope. Even if they're just half-ideas or half-developed plots. Therefore when he's writing something and it's actually halfway successful, and he starts to get stuck/bored/gains apathy toward it, he reaches into the envelope and pulls random things out and tries to see if they might benefit the story or not. This way he keeps things fresh, new, and exciting; all of this allows for even more creativity, as an old idea you have may mesh well with a new idea, and then you can keep going and keep that passion for the story going. It's a very, very good idea---and it obviously works, as he is an incredibly successful author.

I have the same problem! I do the same as the author that poppy. mentioned.

Well I figured more people had to have the problem. There's just so many good story ideas flouting around out there.

Well I will have to take the advice and save old ideas for later times.

I keep rewriting things with the same characters over and over because I've grown attached to my characters even though I'm extremely cruel to them Help me

I have... what, 7 ideas now? I think what I've been doing actually I'd combining aspects of every idea I have and instead of making them their own story I add them into one of my 'Big 4' as a subplot or side character.

Same with me. I'm amazed that I stuck with my main project, to be honest.

It's like...I wanna write them all, but at the same time, I have lost my muse for like...half of the ideas. I know, right? I love being a writer, but it's so hard to complete a story. Or even start it, for me.
