With the big USA election coming I was wondering how many have already sent in their votes yet. Went to vote early in person a few weeks ago. There was a decent amount of people in line with me including several first time young voters which is pretty neat. Maybe the school levy for my district will actually pass this time with more younger people voting.

usually we go on election day, but we might go early this time since we are leaving for a two week trip the day after and will probably be busy packing and getting the house ready.
need to research our local politics, there’s some school board stuff and local props going on.

I just filled out my ballot and sent it in yesterday. Last evening I just realized "holy crap the election is actually getting close" so I just filled everything out ASAP. There's no local elections in my district this year so it was pretty fast. I just moved ~7 hours away to college but I'm still voting in my home county so it'll take a couple days to get mailed LOL. I forgot about that and had to do it immediately.

For anyone interested in watching election results, in Ohio, the most important ones to be watching from a nationwide perspective, besides the obvious presidential one (which isn’t really that important since Ohio isn’t even a toss-up/battleground state this year…) is the senate race and if the redistricting amendment (issue 1) to prevent gerrymandering will pass.

My state doesn’t do in-person voting but I prefer to drop my ballot directly in the box outside city hall a few days to a week in advance just to ensure it's collected in time. A number of ballots were recently swiped from mailboxes and I just don’t want to take that chance. Still need to fill it out tho. Not that it matters, but the illusion of choice is nice lol. Last time every state measure I voted against passed, the only one I voted yes on failed, and none of my chosen candidates got elected. I know my vote won’t change anything, but I like to think of it as a protest vote. Hopefully it still sends a message to the state legislature and reminds them that people outside of Portland and Salem exist.

Only a few days left now and we can all say good riddance to all the transphobic political ads. Certain candidates seem to be out to make trans people the boogeyman in many statewide elections this year (e.g. Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas). The dehumanization is pretty ridiculous and disgusting.

I'm going tomorrow. This is the first year I've been registered to vote in the state I live in (I've voted via absentee ballot in the general and midterm elections since 2016) so I want to have the experience of going in person on the actual day. Not to mention the fact that I never received a mail-in ballot despite the fact that my state automatically sends them to all registered voters. (I moved recently, that's probably why).

I saw an ad that was saying we shouldn’t allow trans men in women’s restroom . . . they can’t even be transphobic correctly smh. No but for real, it’s incredibly stressful to hear them as a trans person

I think I’ve seen a similar ad about a woman crying fearfully about trans students using bathrooms at schools. It’s like get over it you snowflake of a woman, being of scared of literal children.

The thing I don’t get is how people even know if some random woman or man is trans. If someone is dressed like a woman, I just assume they are and leave it at that. They don’t have to prove it to use the woman’s room. But I also don’t have an issue with guys going in there to assist a loved one or women bringing in their sons due to age or disability. Idiots who want these laws ignore that these anti-trans laws also impact these people.

Politicians are just trying to take advantage of fear and ignorance of what a lot of their voter base doesn’t understand (transgender people for example). They are a party of fear mongering but that is more of my personal opinion. I’m cis but I can look pretty androgynous sometimes. People have mistakenly called me the wrong gender before. Then there’s people that think they can identify all trans people with 100% accuracy. lol

Whelp I am disappointed in my state. Looks like Ohioans hate democracy and love running elections on maps that have been declared unconstitutional for years. Issue 1 has failed, gerrymandering shall continue...
On the bright side, the school levy for my district actually passed this year. F yeah education.

I’m uh 16 and obviously not allowed to vote but I’m sooo happy for my peers that the ballot question number 2 in Massachusetts has made it so that we do not have to pass the MCAS in 10th grade to graduate. Some people cant pass the test no matter how hard they try, whether it’s because they don’t know English well or have a disability. As a current 10th grader in Massachusetts, this is awesome. what is the MCAS?

Students 3rd grade through 10th grade take it at the end of every school year in math and ELA (and science in 5th, 8th, and 10th). It’s mostly to test the teachers and state, not the students. Although you used to have to pass it in 10th grade in order to graduate high school.

looks like ol don took the victory this year. democracy doesn't die in darkness, it dies when uneducated hicks go out and cast ballots for a convicted felon with dozens of sexual assault accusations supported by neo-nazi organizations and white supremacy groups. **** this country.
