What's your favorite of the comics you've read? I'm glad you asked! My all time favorite so far is Captain America: Winter Soldier. It's just beautiful and emotional. My second favorite, though, which I also love, is Captain America/Iron Man: Civil War. Again, beautiful and emotional, especially the end I may or may not have cried.

Heimdall; along with Captain America/Iron Man: Civil War, I also read just plain Civil War, as well xD I have to say, though, that I preferred Captain America/Iron Man: Civil War, but I still liked it (: The thing that's different about them that I found is 1) the Captain America/Iron Man is from their perspectives and 2) the Captain America/Iron Man is more based on the movie, whereas the Civil War one is the original comic book one, I think. But it's really cool to read both and see the parallels and differences.

I would very much like to draw my characters. But my problem is that, I guess, I don't know how. Like, I don't have a style :/ I mainly draw realistic portraits, so I get a little lost when I try to draw things that are more stylized D: Do you have any advice on how to develop a style that's unique to me?

Draw a lot. I know. Stupid piece of advice, right? But it is one of the biggest ways.
But something you can do now is consider different formats. How to draw eyes, for example. Look up a bunch of different refs for eyes, study them, draw them yourself. Get a variety. See how other artists draw them. Try to mimic a style you like for a bit (pro tip, if you're worried you'll stay in that style, you wont. You can't steal a style AND improve your art. It'll naturally move away from each other. An example would be I liked how my friend Irisluv draw eyes, so I tried drawing them like her for about a month, and then by about month three they looked so different from what I started with that it didn't matter. Style develops. Or you can look at famous painters if you're still concerned and try to emulate them for a bit. The best of the best has repainted Starry Night at least once. XD So can you.)
Other ways to develop style is consider this: Quality or time. Using eyes again as an example, I have decided on a style of eyes that's easier to draw quickly and color in for my comic (you can see it within the main pages) and I've got a style of eyes I can focus on more (like in Myrnin's reference sheet). The more complex a design, the harder it will be to keep it up. If you want to aim for a design, that it. Style can be helped along by aiming for what you want your art to look like, or you can let it develop naturally. Usually, art tends to lean toward the medium you consume the most of. Mines a strange child of cartoon, anime, and touch of realistic. XD

No, it's actually good advice I just put my response under a spoiler b/c it's a lot XD I just find that sometimes it's easy to get discouraged because you can't see change over night. Like, for instance, I used to never be able to draw human portraits. When I was a freshman in high school, my art teacher laughed at me because we had to draw portraits of family members and mine looked like drawings done by a child (literally a circle with eyes and a mouth). Granted, I was laughing too because I knew how terrible it looked, but it still hurt b/c I felt like, "Wow, this is where I am. I'm never going to be any better than this". I stopped taking art after freshman year b/c I didn't have any open spots in my schedule, but then as a senior I took art again. I drew every day of the summer leading up to the new school year, and my improvement was incredible. It was nothing like my freshman year art. At all. I still wasn't perfect, but I had a better understanding. Since then, I've gone from being able to draw realistic portraits that were 'okay it kind of looks like a person but I still have no idea who that person is' to 'wow. maybe it's not perfect, but I can actually tell who that person is'. I guess the problem now is that I'm so used to drawing realistic portraits and improving on that, that I haven't given myself the time to draw anything else. I think faces are the hardest part right now when it comes to drawing my characters, which is ironic because I draw portraits XD But, I think that might be why it's harder, though? Because I'm so used to drawing realistic portraits that when it comes to doing a more cartoon-y style, I have to take a step back and like break free from the part of my brain that wants everything to be 100% structured and realistic.
