I think it fits well with his personality and his evolution in the first Arc. Cloudpaw is cheeky, rebellious, provocative, and popular with cats his age. But this song could also explore his feelings of exclusion due to his kittypet origins, his guilt about going to feed at the Twolegs, and his complicated relationship with Fireheart.

I Was Wrong by The Oh Hellos (Inspired by Ashtrall’s MAP) Spoilers for excerpt (first three chapters) of Ivypool’s Heart During AVoS, Kestrelflight regrets cutting himself off from the other medicine cats on Onestar’s orders. Given permission from StarClan to defy his leader’s command, he joins Harespring to provide the other Clans with lungwort, saving untold lives. But he never truly forgets the fallen cats he could’ve treated. Later as a senior medicine cat, he discovers that Whistlepaw secretly helped Frostpaw. He severely punishes his apprentice and doesn’t believe Frostpaw’s story about Splashtail. When Frostpaw tries to warn him WindClan is in danger, he’s quick to dismiss her. But after a tree flies into camp and Whistlepaw risks her own life to rescue Leafkit, Kestrelflight realizes how wrong he was. Humbled, he apologizes to his apprentice and to Frostpaw. He and Whistlepaw reconcile, and he shows his total faith in her at the start of Ivypool’s Heart, speaking on her behalf to the other Clans about her recurring dreams. While Whistlepaw is off on her journey, Kestrelflight visits the Moonpool and meets Kinkfur and Crowfrost, the ShadowClan cats who died of yellowcough without access to lungwort. Kestrelflight apologizes, and he tears up as the elder and former deputy dip their heads in warm understanding. Cinderheart! |

Happy People by Greer. It really reminds me of how much of Tall Shadow’s life has been followed by tragedy and pain—losing her close friend Shaded Moss and having to step up as leader, her brother Moon Shadow suffering before dying horribly, similar for her nephew and deputy Sun Shadow, not to mention the countless cats she knew for her entire life due to the strife and hardship which befell the group once they reached the forest and boundaries became guarded by bloodshed. She saw so many people she cared about become total strangers, or lost to her forever through factors almost entirely out of her control. Yet regardless of the struggle she carried on, managing to be a competent and skilled leader who protected her group and stood for what was right until the very end. Her entire story feels incredibly bittersweet to me, especially her novella.
