 Introduction
Welcome to Ashclan, the heart of the forest! This clan is part of a three-clan roleplay with Stormclan and Ridgeclan; please feel free to join however many you want, whether that's just one or all three! All three clans have been built with the intention of interacting with each other, and all major plots have been planned with this in mind. Welcome to the forest!
Rules
i. follow all forum rules, please!
ii. please keep your characters realistic in appearance. no unnatural pelt or eye colors, wings, etc.
iii. please also keep your characters realistic in description. no mary-sues or flawless cats. flaws make characters fun and believable!
iv. no god-modding or controlling other people's characters.
v. do your best to post at least once a week or so per clan. if there's something going on that's holding you up [both online or irl], just keep me looped in! i'd like to think i'm pretty understanding, just let me know.
vi. try to stick to a five cat limit per clan when first joining, and be semi-balanced about genders. i would also ask that we do not create motherless kits; please either make a queen as well or collaborate with someone on the planning page to be the mother of the kit.
vii. if you want to start a plot, whether within Ashclan or across all three clans, let me know! plots are fun, but they should also be collaborative.
viii. have fun and be kind to each other. we might all be at different roleplay/writing levels, but everybody has to start somewhere, so please be understanding with each other. that said, i do ask that each post is at least three to four full sentences.

The Territory
Ashclan's territory is situated primarily at the edge of an oak tree forest, bordered by clans on two of it's three sides. It's rather easy to tell when you've passed into Ashclan from one of the neighboring clans due to how quickly the trees go from sparse to dense. On it's last side, the forest continues, growing even more dense. While there are no other groups of cats in this area to cause any problems worth developing a firm border over, there are a few twoleg campsites not too far off that... encourage Ashclan cats not to come too close.
The Camp
The camp is located further back in the territory. While the trees in this area are quite dense, Ashclan cats have built their camp in a rare, albeit somewhat small, clearing. Walls around the camp have been formed by filling gaps between the trees with brambles, branches, and varying plant litter.Next to the entrance on one side is the Warrior's Den. This is the largest den on camp, with a roof of overlapping leafy branches and walls built through the same method as the walls of camp. The Apprentice's Den is nearby, fashioned in much the same way. Nestled in-between the two is the nursery, built by the walls of the other two dens.
On the other side of the entrance is the Tall Tree, which the clan leader makes announcements from. The Leader's Den is built among the roots of Tall Tree where the dirt has been worn and dug away. This makes the Leader's Den rather small, with room for little else besides two nests. The back of camp is the Elder's Den and the Medicine Den. The former is built out of an hollowed-out stump and a Dogwood bush, while the latter is a tunnel in the ground close to Tall Tree that likely used to belong to a family of foxes or another similar animal.
There isn't much room for anything in camp besides the dens, but there are a few other things worth note. The fresh-kill pile is located in a divot in the ground beside the Medicine Den, half-hidden behind a patch of ferns. There's a small path built off the back of camp that allows a place for cats to go make dirt without having to leave camp itself. The camp itself is usually swathed with large amounts of shade due to the density of the trees, but there are a few spots around Tall Tree that get somewhat consistent sunlight. A few of the stronger Ashclan warriors have shoved larger rocks from the area into these places to allow somewhere for elders to sun during the day.
Notable Places in Territory
The River: There's a small branch of the river from Stormclan's territory that crosses into the forests of Ashclan. This river does not often hold fish [or any prey of note] but allows a water source for the cats to draw from. The river can dry up in times of more severe drought, but this is rare. The end of the river is marked by a small pond.
The Training Patch: The training patch is an area on the banks of the pond at the end of the Ashclan River, where the roots thin out and the ground is softer. Warriors often bring their apprentices out here to train their fighting skills due to this.

ยป There was a whitecough outbreak across all three clans 32 moons ago, in which many cats unfortunately died.
ยป Around 19 moons ago, three foxes ambushed in the clan inside Ashclan camp. Several warriors and apprentices lost their lives defending the clan from this attack.
ยป Eight moons ago, Rushstar lost his last life due to some sort of infection that messed with his breathing. This was a shock, as he had lost his eighth life only a moon prior due to injuries sustained from a wild dog. Duskstar, then called Duskwhisker, had been appointed as deputy less than two moons prior to Rushstar's death.
ยป During newleaf, all three clans suffered from a rise in twoleg activity. These twolegs were trapping or otherwise catching cats and taking them to what the cats called 'the Cutter.' While the cats were released back to the clans, they had been changed. These cats all suffered from a decrease in energy, as a well as somewhat less of an interest in certain aspects of clan life. This led to several cats retiring to the elder's den far earlier than they had to, and a few cats chose to leave their clans altogether. Around five moons ago, all three clans made the difficult decision to follow the guidance of Starclan and leave their territory altogether.

Leader
Duskstar || Tom || Leader || 36 Moons || Duskstar is a dusty brown tom with much darker tabby markings, with amber eyes a few shades more vibrant than the color of his fur. The fur of his belly is somewhat more pale than the rest of his body, and while he isn't much larger than your average tom, there's clear muscle in his frame.
Duskstar is reserved but warm. Other Ashclan cats who knew Duskstar when he was younger might remember him as being outgoing, but the death of Deerpaw when they were apprentices made him notably more withdrawn. This was further reinforced when he became leader a little more than a moon after being selected as deputy, due to the late Rushstar losing his last two lives in quick succession. As a result of these, while Duskstar relishes in interacting with other cats, he often tends to hold himself at a distance-- almost like he doesn't know how to interact with them anymore. He is, however, quick to consult with and consider the opinions of other cats in the clan when in times of struggle or crisis. ||
|| Duskstar has no siblings or littermates. His father, Sedgefrost, has passed on to Starclan. His mother, Sparrowflight, is a clan elder. He has had no mate, although he did have a romantic attachment to a fellow apprentice when he was younger. The two of them likely would have become mates upon becoming warriors, but Deerpaw was killed by a fox shortly before their warrior ceremonies. He hasn't gone out of his way to form any close connections since. ||

Tawnystep || She-Cat || 41 Moons
|| Tawnystep is a cinnamon-colored she-cat with brown spotted tabby markings and amber eyes. The fur on her chest and leading down to her belly is a pale tan color, as are the backs of her back legs. She is lean and lithe.
Tawnystep, unlike her brother, has always been on the quiet side. She has always preferred to sit back and watch from the sidelines before getting involved, in order to make sure she has a clear picture of the situation at hand. As a natural observer, she is usually not the first to engage with other cats. While not unkind, especially to her own clan, Tawnystep can be haughty, and tends to value her own opinion over that of her clanmates. This can sometimes rub others the wrong way. || || Tawnystep was born to Sparrowflight and the now-deceased Sedgefrost. Her only littermate is Duskstar. The two of them are not particularly close, but they get along well when they interact. They have started to do this with less frequency since Duskstar's rise to leader of the clan. ||

Sparrowflight || She-cat || Elder || 108 Moons
|| Sparrowflight is a light brown she-cat, whose tabby markings are so close in shade to the rest of her pelt that they barely stand out. In contrast, her green eyes pop. Sparrowflight is longer than your average she-cat and, in her prime, was packed with lean muscle. The past several moons in the Elder's Den, however, have softened her appearance.
Sparrowflight, despite softening somewhat with age, has always been known to be a bit stubborn. She is smart, and often thinks logically, but tends to become a bit stuck in the mud once she has her mind set on something. This is helped by the fact that she has a strong sense of morality, and most often digs her heels in when it comes to doing what she thinks is right in a moral sense. While fierce in the moment, she is often willing to apologize once she has been able to see the error of her ways. The real struggle is getting her to see that she was wrong in the first place. || || Sparrowflight's parents have long since passed away, as has her mate. She had two kits, Tawnystep and Duskstar, the latter being the current clan leader. Around the time he rose to this position, she retired to the Elder's Den; several injuries she'd received as a warrior, especially those from the fox attack nineteen moons ago, began to slow her down to the point that she struggled to keep up with the other warriors. || Cats Outside the Clan
