Hey guys! I was thinking of a new clan, possibly a clan that lives in the desert or mountains. I'm starting from scratch here, so even the craziest ideas are welcome here! Setup, history, characters, any ideas post them here! ------ I'm new, and I'm excited to get to know you all in the process! I don't know where to start tbh so that's really it... But if this post does get noticed and you get an idea, that would be awesome! Thanks! Im looking forward to what this spark of ideas might grow into! FORMER NAMES OF THREAD- Possible mountain clan, Desert cat clan- now Sunclan

Omg I think a desert clan would be sooo fun and unique, you never see that ! and it would be a great creative outlet for some names we don't usually see in warriors. Scorpionsting X3
They could be very adept at burrowing and make their dens by burrowing in the sand, maybe living around the blooming cacti for protection !

Or maybe they could live in cliff faces that have clefts??? I dunno what they would do to survive... Maybe learn a unique way to get water? Or hunt?

This sounds pretty cool. Maybe they get water from the cacti? That could be an interesting way for them to get water in the desert.

Yeah, I was thinking that same thing! Although my main question is... how exactly? X)

Uh, they uh, like, kinda, do it? In other words: I don't know. I mean you could just say "Scorpionsting harvests water from the cactus" but that's just a way to get around it if you need. (I used Scorpionsting as an example for that cause I got no other names to use as examples)

maybe it could be a medicine cat duty to harvest water from the cacti, since they would be most adept at handling the pins and such ! I can imagine them gingerly picking the pins out, cutting it open with their claws and squeezing the water out into petals that are fashioned like little cups. Cacti bloom beautiful flowers that could be used as their "cups"!

Yeah, that might work.

Another thing you could do is have there be an oasis near or in camp for water so you don't have to deal with the cactus thing. Personally though, I think the cactus water extracting is cool and I think they should maybe use both so I am now gonna try and make an excuse for why they use both and then get sidetracked.

Well the oasis could be used for like thirst water, and the juice in cacti can maybe have health benefits And they could use it in ceremony rituals/ vigils

Yeah, like cactus juice is for medicine cats for healing and stuff and oasis water for drinking. I also had the idea that there is one oasis in the desert or that they know about (maybe some plot could be finding an oasis) and that oasis is their way to communicate with Starclan so they don't drink from it.

I think I'm gonna go look for some animals that live in the desert and make a list.

Maybe they can be semi nocturnal because I know that's what some other desert mammals do to keep cool. I also know a type of cat that lives in the desert wild called the sand cat.

Antelope Jackrabbits (basically their version of rabbits) Desert Iguanas (might be too big, not sure) Fennec Foxes (they aren't much bigger than cats so maybe they are like scavengers? Kinda like wolves and coyotes maybe) Gila Monster (venomous I believe, just don't get bitten or the medicine cat will have to deal with you) Jerboas (so cute, I would feel bad hunting one) Kit Fox (might be more of a threat than fennec foxes?) Lappet-Faced Vulture (maybe just a generic vulture cause that name is too long) Meerkats (Hakuna Matata!) Mojave Desert Tortoise (flip them over and get the underside?) Mulgara (never heard of them, kinda like mice and voles?) Red-Spotted Toad (like frogs for them) Roadrunner (they go vroom!) Sandgrouse (a grouse, but with sand before it) Sidewinder (like and adder I guess) Southern Marsupial Mole (I don't like the name) Thorny Devil (they look spiky) Water-Holding Frog (okay, this one is actually a frog)
I found these on a website and I skipped the insects/bugs and big things like antelope and camels. I can go back and put those in if needed.

Just another thing to add, living in the desert might make finding herbs difficult and for some herbs may be impossible. Maybe they have different ways to treat things, like other than the normal way.

I also think that the camp should be pretty shaded or have a lot of cave dens. Or both.

Yeah something like a cliff or rock side that has like those holes in them. A sandstone arch would be cool too

That is a super cool idea but if we need an alternative we can do burrows underground.
