““Hi, Goldenshade! Yes, I’m ready to give hunting a go,”she paused briefly at his advice. “I’ll be careful. No marsh can stop me!” She ignored the fact that she hadn’t been to one yet. Her passage hadn’t been in that part of the territory, and her mentor hadn’t taken her to one yet. But how bad could it be?
Cricketpaw got up, stumbling a bit as she righted herself. She was eager to see that part of the territory now and to try hunting. Maybe she’ll even catch something today! Her first catch ever. Her doubts from earlier in the morning were mostly gone now and had been replaced by excitement.
Cricketpaw is feeling better about things now.
And that’s sweet that Sunkit is partially named after her grandma.

Scorchdawn camp — accompanied by: Ashbreeze he/him - sr. warrior Of course Scorchdawn had an ulterior motive, but he wasn't going to tell his son that. He hadn't done much when it came to parenting Ashbreeze and his littermates. It was his fault that he struggled to hold a relationship with any of his offspring though he'd never admit it.
The cold yet inviting tone that came from Ashbreeze caused Scorchdawn's amber-orange gaze to narrow. Frankly, he had never tried to deepen his relationship with the white tom before him. It was surface level, a casual yet peculiar relationship. Scorchdawn had never felt like a true father nor had he acted like one., If he stuck to his aspirations, maybe he could fit his kits in. He wasn't going to try anything with Dreamfog since the two didn't bother to acknowledge each other's existence. Although it was more likely that they didn't care for each other anymore as it had been a very long time.
"I was out on a walk and I wanted to see if there was any prey hanging around here. It looks like I missed Faunastar's announcement. I'm surprised she even came out of her den," he responded, glancing at the calico leader quickly before staring at the fresh kill pile. It wasn't full at all– no wonder his son was hungry. "There's not much prey left, at least nothing fresh. I think we can fix that though, don't you?"
Scorchdawn's amber-orange gaze lingered on Ashbreeze's, wondering if bonding with his son would be a normal thing to do. He never bonded with his kits too well before, but who's to say he couldn't try despite his motive? "Do you want to head out and catch some prey of our own? By the time these patrols get back, it'll be dusk," he mewed, letting out a scoff. "They are wasting time by just standing around, waiting for each other. I'm sure you and I can hunt faster than them."
[ tags: Dew | image credit: best-wallpaper / pinterest ] Wasplight camp — accompanied by: Dreamfog & Quickcreek they/them - warrior Wasplight didn't know much about Dreamfog or Quickcreek except for the fact that they were both clanborn. They didn't have much to say to Dreamfog, especially without Quickcreek here– maybe he was more talkative than Wasplight themselves. Nonetheless, the fawn ticked tabby listened to the older she-cat closely. "O-Oh, I don't mind getting my paws wet, but that sounds like a good plan," they mewed, nodding towards the senior warrior.
At the mentioning of Quickcreek, the feline's ears perked up and their pale sage green eyes began scouring the camp. Where is he? Shouldn't he have shown up by now? they wondered, their gaze moving back and forth. "I don't see 'im right now," they mused, glancing at Dreamfog briefly. It appeared the grey and black she-cat wasn't able to find Quickcreek either. Were they going to have to go on without the young conceited tom? Wasplight wouldn't mind that though it was rude to think that way. They knew better than that. "What do we do...?"

BreezewingBreezewing nodded. He expected as much. Cricketpaw was the first cat he had interacted with that had a limitation in that way. While he had been a warrior for many moons and had seen plenty of warrior injuries in his day, none of them had been permanent like Cricketpaw's. But he wouldn't let something like a leg get in the way of clan duty. "Don't worry," he told Cricketpaw, standing up as he saw Goldenshade approach. "The exercise will be good for your leg. I'm sure it will strengthen it."
Breezewing found it very amusing that Crticketpaw gave a sarcastic retort just as Goldenshade approached. Apprentices, he thought, ears twitching. He gave Cricketpaw a light thwack on the ear with his tail. "Here they come."
Once Goldenshade addressed their apprentice, Breezewing gave a nod. "Alright, we've all gathered. We should head out now, so we can make it back before the sun is gone from the sky." He looked around him at his patrol as he gave the orders. With a wave of his tail, urging them to follow, Breezewing trotted out of the camp, only stopping to make sure the rest of the patrol was following once he was a few tail-lengths from the entrance.

Sandyfox with Greyfoot, Sparrowflare, Shroudpaw Hawkeyes258 aquatail busybee She opened her jaws to reply, just as Faunastar exited her den. Their leader looked tired and unkempt. Unprepared to take on the task of leading the clan at such a young age. Sandyfox pitied her; she, among others, hadn't been too happy when Dragonflystar promoted the then Faunagrove to deputy. There had been plenty of other, better choices. But no cat could go against their leader's judgment. And no one could have predicted such an untimely death. The ginger tabby nodded her head to her denmate's farewell before rising and going to join her patrol. Sandyfox may have been strongly opinionated, but she was not proud. There was nothing wrong with being a senior warrior who was not the patrol lead. It gave her more room to add her criticism wherever it was needed. She refused to be led by a mouse-brain, after all. Luckily enough, Greyfoot was a fine youngin' and he'd do nicely. Sandyfox would keep it casual and step in wherever she saw fit.
The plains. Greyfoot decided on the location, and Sandyfox grunted. It was an interesting choice for a hunt. But she would not interfere, this was his patrol after all. "Well, we're all here. What are we waiting for?"
Rippleleaf with Finchpaw [X] . VeniVidiVici . [X] Rippleleaf chuckled, keeping his eyes on the path ahead. Finchpaw showed much enthusiasm at the thought of hunting. Usually, Rippleleaf wouldn't have allowed them to hunt without bringing any back to the clan. But, they would be gone a long while and he wouldn't let his kit suffer until they returned near nightfall. "Well, we'll keep our senses alert for herbs and prey. I'm a tad hungry myself, I've been awake clearing the storage since before dawn." It was strange. Being so distant with a cat he shared blood with. A cat he and Stormlily created together. There had never been a dull moment with the black-furred she-cat like there was whenever he was around his kits. It was as if there was a wall that appeared whenever they had to indulge in conversation. Deep down, he hated it. But what could he do? He'd abandoned them at a vulnerable time. Last leaf-bare when Stormlily... He cleared his throat. "What other herbs do you think would pair nicely with treating greencough? Other than catmint."
Quickcreek with Dreamfog & Wasplight busybee Sand "We don't have to do anything. Because I'm here." The tabby tom mewed, his tail twitching in mild irritation. He hated waking up to last-minute outings. It had been yet another day that one of his clanmates came to rouse him from his peaceful slumber due to Faunastar's late calling of patrols. And he'd been having a wonderful dream too! On a warm greenleaf day, he trekked through the forest and came across such a beautiful molly. Of course, he had to show off to her by catching her the juiciest piece of prey in the whole forest. But he hadn't come to achieve his goal because that's when he was shaken back to reality. He nodded to Dreamfog, she was his superior. Wasplight he wasn't too sure. They were quiet and often kept to themself. Perhaps this would be Quickcreek's opportunity to peek inside their mind for the first time. ----- (Sorry, I am late everyone! I'm finished this semester of uni this week. Lol, I also I love how Cricketpaw is everyones sweetheart and Quickcreek doesn't even acknowledge her existence xD)

Beesong in camp open
He was out of his nest early today and waited for their new leader to awaken. He waited for ages! She finally woke up and started asigning patrols. He frowned when he wasn't on one. So instead he found a nice patch of sun and lay in it sighing.

Firehawk on patrol with Breezewing, Cricketpaw and Goldenshade [X] . VeniVidiVici . [X] tumblepaw Firehawk slowly trails behind the others annoyed that Faunastar decided to suddenly remember to be a leader and organize the patrols. He hoped this wouldn't last to long so he could get back to napping. On top of that, Cricketpaw was being way to cheerful for his liking. Least, he had some decent cats in his group. He could be in the group with Sandyfox or Scorchdawn. The mere idea made him shudder. Greyfoot: On Patrol with Shroudpaw, Sandyfox and Sparrowflare aquatail 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢 and busybee "I couldn't agree more." Greyfoot gives her a nod before turning around and makes his way out of camp. He was a little intimidated with Sandyfox on his patrol, but he could handle himself just fine. Would take more than a few harsh words to get him down. I could use this time to show Shroudpaw off a little. He was proud of his apprentice even if he didn't say it much. Once they were out of camp, he starts heading in the direction of the edge of the forest.

Bittermeadow Bittermeadow couldn't help but roll their eyes, but for once didn't say anything. Stormfur could be a candidate for deputy, and they didn't want to get in trouble right after the ceremony. Whenever that is!
"The fox that was scented a few days ago? There's a small chance it's still there" Bittermeadow scoffed. This patrol was practically useless! Well, maybe not, better to know it's gone then worry about it.
"So we're just waiting for Coastivy?" They asked, scanning the camp one last time. Still no sign of the tom, but Bittermeadow could just not be looking hard enough. They didn't know the mackerel tom very well, as he kept to himself mostly. Quite the opposite of me! Coastivy was a hard nut to crack, but Bittermeadow was determined to succeed.
They/Them - Warrior 𝓡𝓸𝓬𝓴𝔂 𝓑𝓮𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 , ladylantsov
Dawnspirt Dawnspirt pondered for a moment, flicking her tail back and forth while she thought. "Are you stressed about something? Possibly the fact that we have no deputy?" She asked, although a warrior as young as Coffeefinch couldn't be that stressed about that, right?
"I know when I have bad dreams there is always a cause, and when I find that cause and confront it, they usually go away" Dawnspirt offered, her mind wandering slightly. She saw Beesong hanging around in the sun alone, but he seemed to be fine. The two cats were good friends, a strong bond they had formed in their early moons.
"I don't know if that helps, but I can help you find the cause if you want, but if it's the deputy situation, you might want to talk to Faunastar about that" Well, really the entire clan should talk to Faunastar about this problem, but maybe they would get a deputy today? I hope!
She/Her - Warrior busybee Ashbreeze Ashbreeze felt a little happy to know that Scorchdawn hadn't expected to reaction that he had recived, but it didn't really matter in the grand sceme of things. It was strange to him that Scorchdawn was spending time with him instead of Howlpaw, his apprentice, but that was a question for another day. Or, never. Ashbreeze didn't really care what Scorchdawn did most of the time anyways. Maybe Howlpaw was taking a day off.
Ashbreeze all but ignored his father's comment about Faunastar, it was true that she should have been up earlier but it was not fair to say that she wouldn't get up at all. "I think she's trying her best, even if it isn't that much. She could do more if she picked a deputy though" An icey tone greeted the words picked a deputy, a small hint that he wanted the role. "We could go hunting, I wouldn't mind"
Ashbreeze got to his paws, arching his back and glancing around camp. Clan life seemed to be at its peak, cats were gathering for patrols or otherwise just talking. "Ready?"

StormfurWarrior * 52 moons * He/Him * tagged; ladylantsov Dew --------------------------------------------------------------------- A twitch of irritation managed to breach his prideful exterior as he considered Bittermeadow's statement. Sure, maybe it wasn't there anymore but what kind of (maybe but probably not) future Deputy would he be if he didn't make sure? After all, if it was still running about territory, it could be taking precious fresh kill or even worse, injure someone! He took a second to reapply his confidence as he joined the other in looking around for Coastivy. He struggled being close to any cat in the clan most of the time, probably due to his over inflated self importance. He had no clue where to even begin looking for the third member of their patrol. "Whether the fox is around or not, we can never be too careful." He proclaimed. Coastivy where are you hiding? He wondered internally.

I’m glad everyone likes Quickcreek’s little accident! XD He and Cricketpaw’s mom had a fling when they were younger, and Cricketpaw and her brother were the result. Now he avoids all of them like the plague. So she’s not close to him and doesn’t really care much about that right now.
I don’t know when I’ll be able to add more for Cricketpaw this week. She’ll just be tagging along on the patrol and asking questions until someone shuts her up in the meantime… unless I get inspired by something else. I have a few things typed out for later during the patrol though.
Can’t wait to see where all the plots go!

COASTIVY
Sprawled out in the warrior's den, more moss visible in his fur than his tabby markings, Coastivy is dreaming. About what even he won't remember when he eventually rouses, but in the moment he seems to be quite enjoying it. Hind paws making little cycling movements, as though pummeling the underbelly of a beast only he can see.
Something outside the warrior's den jerks the tom-cat awake, and he bolts upright. The realisation dawning with all the speed and elegance of a ill-tempered badger that the den was now empty of any cat but him. Oh I'm in bother. He brings his paws beneath him and sneaks from the den as quietly as he can, hoping no one will notice he was among the last to rise that morning.
In all likelihood Coastivy was somewhat unique among his clan - chances were he was the only one quite content about not yet having a deputy, a choice he did think was peculiar, but he of all cats wasn't one to question it. As that minimised his chances of having the cat in question chew his ear off about awaking so late that morning. But as he comes trotting from the warrior's den, he realises he wasn't the only one. Faunastar stood, looking perturbed and dishevelled, while several patrols were slowly streaming toward the camp exit.
I... might be safe. The hope hardly has the chance to settle.
But when he spots Stormfur and Bittermeadow, watching him withdraw from the den, his hopes are quickly dashed against the rocks. As are any beliefs he might be free from an ear-chewing, Stormfur had been quite transparent in how he'd been eyeing up the deputy position. Frankly, Coastivy had seen more subtlety from birds of prey circling a dying animal. Pompous mousebrain.
"Sorry! Sorry!" His tone is somewhere in the deeper pits of sheepish as he trots over, tail high and lashing. Shaking his coat out one last time for good measure, sending moss flying like droplets of water. "What are we doing today?"

StormfurWarrior * 52 moons * He/Him * tagged; ladylantsov Dew --------------------------------------------------------------------- Upon seeing the tabby warrior exit from the warrior's den, Stormfur gave a head nod to the both of them, leading them across camp. "We're to check up on the fox scent." He repeated for the latecomer. Stormfur had half a mind to scold Coastivy for their tardiness, but even he knew that was a fruitless endeavor. He was trying to keep everyone on his good side for now anyways, in case it came down to a vote for Deputy. He was deeply unsure what Faunastar was planning. If she was planning anything. All he knew was that every cat in the clan was anxious for an answer. As Stormfur clawed his way across the log, it consumed his attention. He would love to tell you he didn't struggle with the log after all these moons, but he would be a liar. He still could do it, but he certainly has to concentrate.

Bittermeadow Bittermeadow really wanted to get a move on with this patrol, but really only because Stormfur might be a little easier to be around if he had a task on hand - that didn't include waiting for a clanmate. But, as it turned out Coastivy was coming toward them now, if only looking a little sheepish.
"It's all good, just gonna go see if a fox is still wandering the territory" They said at the same time Stormfur replied as well. "Well that settles that" Bittermeadow commented, although in their very humble opinion their statement was more accurate.
Now they progressed to leave camp, Stormfur taking the lead and the other two warriors trailing behind. Bittermeadow had always been good at navigating the entrance log, and they did this now, balancing well on the worn bark.
"The fox scent is at the southern border correct? It should be stale by now but we can check" Bittermeadow said once they were all on their paws, taking a glance at Stormfur to see how the tom would react.

He nodded gently before reaching the end of the log, feeling his speech capabilities return to him once he was on solid footing. "We should definitely start there. I know it's most likely gone now, but we should be on guard on the off chance it is lurking around somewhere. The last thing we want is anyone getting hurt from underestimating how dangerous it could be." It was clear he was struggling with admitting it probably wasn't there anymore, but he still enjoyed the sound of his own voice too much to fully let it go.

FinchpawThe Forest // With Rippleleaf // 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢
Finchpaw nodded, telling the rumble in their belly to calm down. Food will be coming soon. They pricked their ears, listening to the sounds of the forest. While they couldn’t hope to hear any herbs, maybe they could hear a mouse scuttling along that they could snap up.
Finchpaw tilted their head thoughtfully at Rippleleaf’s question. They wanted to impress him. While their training would be longer than their siblings - regardless of the fact neither of them had passed their Fledgling’s Passage - they still wanted to learn and achieve at the same rate. This was important to them, in more ways than one. ”Well, poppyseeds would be useful. Not for treating the disease, but in letting the cat sleep so their body can heal…” Finchpaw started slowly, making sure they had reasons to back up each of their suggestions. “Coltsfoot. It can be used to treat coughs.” They said decisively.
After a moment of thought, another one came to Finchpaw: “And fennel!” They had said that one a bit too loud, and they heard the undergrowth near them rustle as some tantalizing piece of prey ran away. Mousedung. “Fennel can be useful, it can also treat coughs and the pain that greencough can cause.” Finchpaw finished, quieter this time. They looked up at Rippleleaf expectantly, hoping to be praised. Or at the least, to have gotten the question right.

Scorchdawn camp -> leaving camp — accompanied by: Ashbreeze he/him - sr. warrior Scorchdawn hadn't forgotten about Howlpaw just yet; his apprentice could wait. Seeing that she hadn't shown up anyways, he would find Howlpaw later for some training. For now, he was going to spend some time with Ashbreeze. As if it hadn't proved difficult enough, Scorchdawn was going to have to put a lot of effort into this relationship.
With a sigh, the ginger classic tabby tom listened to his son intently. It didn't bother him yet that Ashbreeze had ignored his comment about Faunastar. Although it seemed bizarre, he would try to not bicker with him so quickly. He needed to portray himself as a decent father if he wanted things to go his way. After all, Scorchdawn didn't want Ashbreeze becoming deputy just yet. If anything, the senior warrior believed he deserved it more. He had more experience and more ambition.
At the sound of the white tom's icy tone, Scorchdawn did his best to not roll his eyes. Ashbreeze's petty pokes and prods weren't going to get to him, not like this. "If only she had chosen one by now, maybe they would have taken care of patrols already," he remarked with a smug smile, implying that he too wanted to be deputy.
The senior warrior got to his paws smoothly before stretching his limbs out. "Ready," he replied as he began padding away from Ashbreeze. "By the way, where would you like to hunt?"
