x- Lore -x
Long ago, during a harsh leaf-bare, four rogues banded together, protecting and hunting for each other. They trusted one another, until one day, one of the rogues became agitated and ambitious, becoming dangerous and hostile towards the others. There was no clear reason for such change, however once this had begun, the other rogues became alike him, showing hostility toward one another. They fought for days, until they decided it would be best to spilt up.
They became fair with each other, dividing the territory into four parts, each given to a rogue. After careful consideration, each rogue created a clan based of their skill. The rogue named Jay decided to name his clan JayClan, after himself. He invited only those with his skill. The other clans, TigerClan, AspenClan and StemClan, set boundaries and came up with the now well known "Code of the Stars."*
The 'Code of the Clans' began when the stars above requested there be peace among the clans. During this time, blood was spilled from every clan. Even a slight skirmish or act of aggression could lead to days of war which would quickly turn into a bloodbath. The stars went down to the land, declaring peace and violence only when necessary. Every clan created reasonable and rational rules of their choice to be added into the code. The code helped plentiful, and although there were still plentiful wars, the dark times before had left.
*See below.
x- Territory -x
JayClan's territory are mainly created on plains. However, the territory isn't big enough to be fair to the other clans, so at the TigerClan border, there are a few trees and woodland on their side. Counting on their swiftness, they hunt on the moor chasing rabbits and the occasional bird. It's unlikely that they will catch much prey on a hunting patrol, however a rabbit alone could feed plenty of cats.
In JayClan's favor, apart from the lack of prey, leaf-bare is not very harsh towards them. The cold does not affect their water supply, as at the edge of the territory, the border between StemClan is a gorge, in which a secret until leads toward the edge of the gorge, perfect for soaking moss or drinking from as long as the current isn't too fast.
landmarks
Ancient Oak.
The ancient oak is in the little woodland part of JayClan territory. It is a tall, elderly oak tree, in which an owl had previously nested. During this time, the owl would hunt prey on their territory, creating a minor scarceness in the area. However, after learning of this, warriors were sent out to remove the owl. The Ancient Oak also provides a good look-out into TigerClan territory and has been used many times during expected war.
Rabbit Place.
Rabbit Place is a hill, close to the two-leg barn, in which there are multiple rabbit holes, home to plenty of rabbits. This particular place is a hot spot for hunting rabbits, and the main place hunting patrols head towards. This place is also used a lot to hunt during Leaf-bare, as when it rains the holes will flood, forcing the prey to flee.
Ideas?
x- Prey -x
JayClan prey is mainly consisted of rabbits, mice, rats, voles and birds. However, the occasional fish is caught at the gorge, however this is quite rare.
x- Herbs -x
Most herbs are easy to find, however most commonly found are borage leaves and goldenrod.
Passed down for centuries, a secret herb stash can be found in an old two-leg barn. It's easy to harvest juniper berries, catmint and cobweb.
x- Code of the Stars -x
The Code of the stars, formed to protect the clans from further bloodshed in dark times, consists of the following rules:
^ No hunting on another clan's territory. ^
^ During wars, a cat is not allowed to kill anyone, but merely attack. ^
^ Respect the other clans as you wish to be respected ^
^ Gatherings do not permit violence. ^
^ Put your clanmates lives before your own. ^
^ Do not eat your prey before bringing it back to camp ^
x- Camp -x
Camp, much like the WindClan camp, JayClan camp dips at the top of a hill centered in JayClan territory. For their protection, they had enforced a bramble wall, and the camp entrance is well hidden.
The camp consists of the classic dens: Medicine den, leader's den, warriors' den, apprentices' den and such. However, the nursery and elders' den begin in the same tunnel, however separate deeper down, and the entrance s enforced with brambles making it the safest den in camp. It's also the dryest, sheltered by the tunnel roof. And, JayClan had enough room to create a deputy's den, which takes place next to the leaders' den.
For meetings, there is a large, smooth stone the sticks out if the edge of camp, and with a few stepping-stone-like rocks that lead up to it, a leader would be able to make a meeting on top.
