"Yeah, my paws are starting to feel how much we walked today," Pinepaw said, lifting one up and giving it a shake. "It was fun though."
"And what is this now?" Wolfspirit asked, pausing by the apprentices in his walk across the camp. He looked down at them, clearly suspicious.
"Nothing Wolfspirit!" Pinepaw blurted out, eyes wide.

Aspenpaw looked up at the deputy and gave him a beautiful, innocent smile "Nothing Wolfspirit! We were just talking about how they were helping me train because my previous mentor died." She said, her tail waving back and forth happily.

Wolfspirit narrowed his eyes and frowned. He glanced at all three, and after seeing Pinepaw and Robinpaw both nodding decided to let it go for now. "Fine," he murmured before heading into the warriors den.
"THat was close," Robinpaw whispered after the deputy was a decent distance away.

Aspenpaw gave them a look at her words before shaking her head fondly "You need to learn how to lie better than that" she mused, letting out a yawn despite the anxiety fading from her. For a moment, she thought that it was tick duty for sure..but she wouldn't let Robinpaw or Pinepaw know that.

As she ate her mouse Emberleaf watched the giggling apprentices from across the camp. She didn't know what they'd been up to but she enjoyed seeing her clanmates in good spirits.

"Oh, ok," Pinepaw meowed, continuing to look at her before closing his eyes. They didn't stay closed for long, though, as the silence was interrupted by his stomach growling. He jumped to his paws and padded over to the fresh kill pile, taking out a small mouse.

That noise broke Aspenpaw out of her miniature funk and she smiled, giggling slightly. She shook off the traces of the dark thoughts and turned to look at her friends.
