"We need the leaves, meowed Emberleaf, "Try and be selective about how many leaves you strip from a plant. We don't want to kill our supply." Emberleaf then began to demonstrate what she meant by gently nipping about half the leaves off one plant, before moving a few plants down and repeating the process. Making sure not to take too many leaves or take leaves from two plants next to each other. Slowly she began to build a pile of the coltsfoot.

Emberleaf watched her apprentice as he added leaves to her pile. "Good job," she said, "Practice makes perfect, it's most important to remember to be gentle with the plants."

Emberleaf chuckled at her apprentice. "That's enough," she said, "Do you remember what else we needed?"

"Jealous? Of what?" Pinepaw asked, his head tilting to the other side.

Emberpaw shook her head at the tom's obliviousness and gave Aspenpaw a sympathetic look.

"Oh," Pinepaw said simply.

"It's ok, I don't have a mentor yet either Aspenpaw," Emberpaw spoke up, stammering a bit in the beginning of her sentence.

Emberpaw smiled and gave Aspenpaw a small nod.

"Can't you just ask to come with us? I don't think our mentors would mind," Pinepaw meowed. Then he perked up suddenly. "Or we could teach you what we learn when we come back! It will help you, and will help us review things!"

Emberpaw couldn't help but giggle a bit at Pinepaw's focus. Everything always came back to training.

Pinepaw looked at Emberpaw, who nodded, before looking back at Aspenpaw. "Yeah!" he said.

"I don't think the warriors will have a problem with it," Emberpaw mewed.

Emberpaw smiled as well after seeing how happy the suggestion had made her denmate.

Pinepaw was also grinning. "This will give us practice for when we're mentors," he said.

Pinepaw nodded, feeling very proud of his incredibly brilliant idea. "Want to start now?" he asked.

"Sure, I don't think I have anything else to do right now," Pinepaw said with a wary glance over at his mentor.

"I'm free right now too," Emberpaw mewed.

"We also needed some alder bark and poppy seeds." said Emberleaf, "Do you remember where the alder trees grow?"

"By the river?" Timberpaw guessed, hoping he was right. (Sorry for short post)

"We can do this wherever you guys think is best" Aspenpaw mewed, feeling embarrassed.

Timberpaw purred and grabbed the leaves in his mouth, gently enough not to break them and began padding down towards the river cheerfully, pausing to wait for his mentor.
