Eh, if they execute it well. Make Sol act like an old man and secretly destroy a clan from the inside.

Only if he dies lol.
Or comes back as an old (and maybe sick) cat asking for shelter as an elder. He gets accepted and still tries to lowkey influence the Clans but fails.
I feel like WindClan would be the Clan to take him in (mostly based on Harestar's overall lack of agency and backbone as leader despite WindClan having a bad experience with Sol when it came to the tunnel thing in OotS). ThunderClan still has cats in it that were alive when he tried his bs in PoT and OotS, SkyClan has Leafstar and others who remember the crap he pulled while being with them in the gorge, ShadowClan has Tigerstar II (who either would be written to remember what happened with Blackstar in PoT when he was an apprentice or the writers forget and do the same mistake as with him in TBC were he acts as if he did not fight in the Great Battle during OotS when talking to Squirrelflight about it) and Tawnypelt probably remembers Sol as well. As for RiverClan, they were never much affected by what Sol did and did not get involved in the situation aside from Leopardstar going with Blackstar and Onestar to demand Firestar get rid of Sol in the final PoT book. So I suppose he could be allowed to join RiverClan too but this is all just hypothetical.

Many WindClan warriors, including all three of their high positions along with several warriors such as Heathertail, Breezepelt, Emberfoot, Leaftail, etc. were still around when Sol had them use the tunnels last time. Sol’s best bet is RiverClan as he’s lived in and caused trouble for the remaining four Clans already. He has yet to do any damage to RiverClan in comparison so if Sol does return, an RC pov may be needed as well.

Guess I was moreso going along the lines of which leader would take him in based on their experiences with Sol. ThunderClan did so three times and would never again, SkyClan did so once and would never again, ShadowClan did so once and it did not go well but they might again depending on wether or not the writers remember that Tigerstar II (and also Tawnypelt) remember Sol and what he did to ShadowClan after the eclipse, WindClan had that whole thing with him in OotS but Harestar (who was involved there as well back then iirc) sometimes shows such a distinct lack of backbone and agency as leader that he may or may not take him in anyway. RiverClan is Sol's best bet, I agree. Although the other Clans would surely warn them about him and likely insist they get rid of him if he gets revealed to stay with them. Though, if that still happens in ASC, Splashtail would probably not listen to any of them. And maybe kill him later on so that I never have to think about Sol ever again lol.

Hell no. Also, wouldn't he be pretty old at this point?

Hell no. Also, wouldn't he be pretty old at this point? He would, but chances are, if he ever does reappear, it's never going to be pointed out. It rarely is for the current cast of characters and even Darktail was about seven when he died. Either that, or they do acknowledge his age and essentially give him a successor.

Isn’t Ivypool’s SE going to be a travel book iirc?? Maybe they could across him then and he’s ill or something and dying of old age idk. I don’t want him to appear in the main series again, even though I love him. They missed their window with AVoS and TBC. Pretty sure that it’ll be a traveling book or a DF book.

An article from Warriors HQ hinted at a quest, so yeah probably traveling.
