Something that annoyed a lot of people is that ashfur let squirrelflight and the three were allowed to leave the fire. Squirrelflight still clearly would have been broken if three people were killed because of her, especially if she raised them. But I thought of something. Maybe ashfur chose to reveal the secret at the gathering instead because he knew brambleclaw and squirrelflight would get kitty cat divorce and then he could jump in and do the “I’ll treat you better than he could” thing. This probably wasn’t going on in the authors head, but you never know.

Ashfur let Squirrelflight and her kits go because he believed he'd found something better to hurt her with. It's the same reason for why Hollyleaf let Leafpool live. Maybe he would've tried to still be with her (we saw as much with TBC how obsessed he still was while also hating her all at the same time), but sometimes things really are just as simple as that. Also, it's Ashfur. He's not exactly rational.

Ashfur was also not exactly rational about the whole thing, so even if he did think that revealing the secret would hurt Squirrelflight worse, I don’t know if he DIDNT believe Squilf about killing the three not hurting her.

Ashfur says to Jayfeather that he wants Squirrelflight exiled from ThunderClan for her lie, so ruining her reputation (also her being the Clan leader's daughter and deputy's mate) would probably hurt her more. And that her adopted kits would hate her. We also see that even though he "loves" her, he's more than willing to hurt her and her family out of petty spite. Look no further than TBC.
As the others have said, Ashfur clearly wasn't thinking rationally about the whole situation anyway.
